The lake, serene, quiet and oh so calm, Vieno loved to look at it from time to time, especially when she was just passing by. Lowering her head, the mare took a drink from the water and studied the calmness of the water. Brown eyes followed the ripples as they made large circles around where she'd dipped her muzzle in. She'd always been amazed at how big the ripples got after a moment or too, then again... this mare was amused by simple things. Her long, flaxen, mane fell off of her shoulder and into the water as she was looking down at it. This made her giggle and step away from the side of the lake, if she didn't want to get wet she had to stay away.

The ground beneath her hooves was softer than usual, muddy if you'd like to call it that. It seemed the lake was surrounded with swampy ground, she had to be careful she didn't slip on some of the more slippery surfaces. So, careful to watch where she was putting her feet, the mare continued toward a more open and less dense area. After arriving at a rocky ledge she smiled and let the wind ruffle her mane. Vieno loved the outdoors, everything was so soothing and relaxing, she didn't understand why some animals lived in caves. Wouldn't it get dull seeing the same walls daily?

Looking at the lake made her think of one incident where she'd gone to the ocean and met a kelpie. This made her wonder if creatures similar to him lived in the lake as well. She'd heard Dante mention there were other creatures like that too, nicer ones, oh how she would have loved to meet one!

Her mind snapped back to reality as a rock beneath her hoof tumbled down the ledge and into the lake. Seeing the rock fall made her back up and grin, if she wasn't careful she'd fall into the lake too. That probably wouldn't be a good thing 'cause she didn't really know how to swim... but hey, at least she could have figured out what sorts of creatures were hiding beneath the depths...

High in the sky, a black stallion looked scrutinizingly down at the landscape below. There was a large lake out there somewhere, very clear and crystal like. It'd be a change from the rivers that ran through the murky forest he generally stuck to.

Pale blue wings were spread out far as he glided down to the lake, black tresses twisted in the wind. He looked quiet elegant, beautiful almost. Now only if his personality was the same. Touching down at the lake's edge, his mane and tail settled down after him and he dipped his head gracefully to take a cool drink from the water. There was another horse nearby, he could smell her, a sweet, pleasant smell, but he didn't care. He was there solely for his own gain, not to meet others.

It would seem the mare wasn't paying attention, but in truth Vieno was always aware of her surroundings. She often thought about anything and everything while she walked and enjoyed the scenery around her. On this particular day, she'd been staring at the lake when she noticed a stallion drop down from the sky. Seeing flying Soquili always amazed the mare, for she was born as a plain and simple creature, wingless and unable to fly. This stranger in particular seemed to have not two but four wings! She wondered if this meant he could fly higher than the average winged Soquili...

Lost in her thoughts once again, she giggled softly and started toward the stranger, it was only polite to say hello, right? He seemed to be a beautiful and friendly looking creature so she saw nothing wrong with saying hello. Of course, the poor mare was often wrong by her first sight judging but... she never gave up.

Stepping toward the stallion, she spoke softly, "Hello there... beautiful day, isn't it?"

Auster continued to drink, the only sign that he had noticed her, was the irritated flick of his white tipped ear. He drank until he was no longer thirsty, eyes closed, his hair somewhat magically staying just out of the water's reach. When he had taken in his fill, he stood, opening his eyes as he looked out over the lake.

He stood that way for a long moment before turning to look at the mare that had spoken to him. He studied her for a moment, his icy blue eyes narrowing just a little. She was a ground mare, a dull brown, with a limp mane and 'cute' decorative feathers tied in her hair. How juvenile. He was tempted to just ignore her and take off again, but he refrained.

"Yes. I suppose it is, if you like blinding sun."

Vieno felt strange as he looked her over, almost as if he was judging her by her appearance. Quickly looking down and away, she let her mane cover her flushed face so he wouldn't be able to tell she was embarrassed. Of course, that technique hardly ever worked, for as soon as she looked down most realized she was embarrassed. Not to worry, most didn't judge by appearance... right?

Shaking her head slowly, Vieno smiled as the male spoke to her, no longer feeling quite so embarrassed. "I guess it could be described as blinding... looking straight into it probably isn't smart!" she tried.

Of course, she wasn't the type of mare to hate any sort of weather, sun, rain, snow or sleet, she welcomed it all. But, agreeing with others seemed to keep her out of trouble most of the time so she did just that.

Auster's eyes widened just a fraction. Did she honestly say that? Best not to look into the sun.. Wouldn't anyone know that? Rolling his eyes inwardly, he gave a curt nod, lifting a hoof to paw at the water and wash away the mud that had stuck to it. This was followed by the other, before looking back to her, mildly amused with the fact she seemed embarrassed. The silly mare.

"No. I cannot say that looking into the sun is ever a wise idea."

Her heart sank as she watched the stranger, it seemed he wasn't at all interested in making conversation with her. Shuffling her feet around slightly, she suddenly felt nervous, only once before had she met someone who wasn't interested in talking and he'd just been having a bad day. Perhaps that was all that was wrong in this situation, and a little bit of cheering up was in order. She couldn't give up yet!

While she thought about what to say next she took a long look over the stranger. He was dark in color, black, with a white stripe on his nose that seemed to suit him. He had incredible wings that she couldn't stop staring at, they looked as if they could carry him to great heights. It always amazed her to think about Soquili flying, meeting winged Soquili was always an interesting experience!

"So do you like to fly...?" Vieno questioned, hoping he did and that wasn't a question she shouldn't have asked.

Auster flicked his mane over his back. Out of the corner of his eye, he could see her staring at his wings. With a small smirk, he flicked his wings out wide, out to their wide impressive length.

"I prefer to stay in my forest, but yes, flying is a wonderful sensation. The feel of the wind in one's mane, rushing past, flying over the mountains.." he stopped, realizing he had rambled. with a huff, he turned away, dipping his head to take another drink.

She smiled, now knowing he found his own wings impressive she didn't feel quite so intrusive with the question. Vieno was always worrying she was going to ruin a conversation by asking too many questions or being just plain annoying. Often she told herself everyone was different and some Soquili just didn't like to be bothered. This helped her to keep a smile on her face as she spoke to even the meanest of Soquili.

"Oh, I love the forest!" the mare replied excitedly, "There's always little creatures you can watch and little sounds you can pick out!" She flushed once again, "Sorry... I... talk too much, don't I?"

Lifting his head slowly, he frowned and blinked at her. "Perhaps just a little." He didn't keep the sarcasm out of his voice, he didn't think she'd notice. Shaking his head slightly, he waded out into the water, tail and mane swaying in the current. He was perhaps the opposite of her. At the very least, he certainly wasn't talkative. "I suppose in the end it doesn't matter. You seem enjoy yourself at least." With a roll of his eyes, he moved out further, letting the cool river wash over him.
