 A soft meow came from the tall grass bordering the small pond. In the pond was a row of stepping stones, perfectly lined up in a row. Small, shiny colored glass, beads, and fake jewels adorned the stones. It was obvious that someone, or something had set them there.
And that Something was poking it's head out of the grass, looking at his artwork. Well, he didn;t make them, but it took a lot to steal them! That was for sure!
His home was near complete...but he just couldn't figure out what was missing!

Hiromi swam happily through the water in the pond. It was such a warm day, and the water felt wonderfully cool. She was sleek, built for swimming, and to say that she was enjoying her newly evolved form would have been an understatement; she loved it!
Surfacing for air, something sparkled on the banks. Curiously, she dove back under the water and swam closer, surfacing and even climbing out of the water to investigate.

Thief's sharp eyes spotted something rippling in the water. It was a different hue of blue than the pond that bordered his home. And naturally, he was curious.
So, he padded up to the edge of the lake, lapping up some water, while keeping his eyes out for anything. And then, something hit his tounge, and it was sharp to.
"Ow!" He yelled, rolling back from the shore. "Tha' really 'urt!" He whined, stroking his tounge with his paws. After opening his eyes, he didn;t see a thing.
"Musta' been a rock 'r somethin..."

Hiromi slipped through the water all the way up to the stones. Upon hearing the cry of pain, she looked over to see Thief. "Are you alright?" She tilted her head, clearly visible now, and her finned ears twitched. "Did you cut your paw?"

Thief noticed the Vaporeon slipping out of the water, and jumped in surprise. He didn't expect another Pokemir to be around. Quickly pulling his tounge in his mouth, he cringed slightly as it still stung, and blood entered his throat.
"Nah, I think a rock mighta 'it mah tounge." Thief told the Vaporeon.
"M'name's Thief, how 'bout yers?"

Hiromi blinked, but didn't say anything and bowed her front half. "Hiromi!" She moved closer to inspect his tongue.
"Wow, talk about taking 'cat got your tongue' to the next level.... And how did you manage to hit your tongue on a rock?"

"Good ta meet'cha Hiromi!" Thief said, giving a little chuckle at her bow. "Ya don' hafta be all fomal like with me, jus' listen ta mah voice." He added, chuckling about his accent.
"I really dun' know how I hit mah tongue on tha' durned rock. 'Urt like a mother, though." Thief whined, sticking out his tongue for affect.
"Say, ya live 'ere?"

Hiromi smiled brightly. "It's really nice to meet you too, Thief! Why do you talk funny?" She tilted her head to the side.
She giggled when Thief stuck out his tongue. "Uh oh, we might have to amputate it!" She joked at him, then shrugged. "I don't really have a set place... Though there is a pond a few miles off that I really like being around."

"Now tha's jus' mean!" Thief mock cried, acting hurt. "Nah, I'm fine wit' it, really. I grew up in a strange place...there was a lo' of shiny tings fer me ta nab. An' every year, they'd throw these flashy beads, and I loved it. I was a yungun' back then, though. Anyway, the people thar had this accent, an' ah picked up awn it. It don;t bother ya, does it?" Thief rambled, enjoying his memories of being a Meowth.
"Bu' then ah couldn't clean maslef!" Thief gasped, laughing afterwards. He loved a good joke.
"Really? Woul'ja like ta show me?"

Hiromi listened intently to Thief's story. "Wow, sounds like you grew up in the city...." She smiled a bit, rather enjoying the Persian's accent. "I didn't mean to offend you with your accent, I was just worried it was cause you were hurt."
At the interest in the pond the frequented, she smiled and nodded. "Ok!" Getting up out of the water, she shook herself, starting from her front and rippling to her mermaid-like tail.

"Ah, thanks fer the concern." Thief nodded, giving her a toothy smile. "Yeah, ah thin' tha's what is called, a city..." Thief trailed off, looking of to side. He'd like to visit that place again, it'd be fun!
And then, water was sprayed on him, waking him out of his stupor. "Argh!" Thief yelled, flailing around. He hated getting wet, it messed up his shiny coat!

Hiromis blinked, tilting her head in confusion as Thief made uncontent noises. "Are.. you ok? Did you get hurt?" She really didn't understand that he was unhappy about getting wet.

"Ah Jus' hate getin' wet is all. It musses up mah coat, and stuff." Thief told her, shaking himself.
"But if I git it wet all a' the same time, I don; mind." Thief assured her, nodding his head.

Hiromi blinked, then smiled and used her finned tail to splash enough water on Thief to soak him. "Heehee, come play with me!" She let out a happy squeak, then lept into the water and started prancing around in the water.

"Oi! Tha's not fair!" Theif playfully shouted, jumping into the lake now that his fur was wet. He swam after her with feline grace, yet letting her stay a little bit ahead, to encourage her.
