Pretty good, I was out when it was on, so I recorded it. The bit where they survive and the Doctor just says, "Oh, right, it was an escape pod," and leaves it at that was a bit weird. Other than that, it was good. I liked the way they were asked if they were married in the trailer for next week's too.

Excited to see the Ood again in the next episode. biggrin I liked them.
Today's episode was pretty good. I like how they (sort of) explain why some things can be changed while others can't. Goes back to what the Doctor told Jack in the last season: "You're a fixed point in time."
Also, the Shadow Proclamation was mentioned again. Do you think it might be the Bad Wolf of this season, or just a coincidence?

First impression: I think I like it.
So basically at the beginning it's sort of a comedy. Very much unlike previous stories of New Who set in the past. Some stuff was funny, some just kind of felt neutral . I liked how Donna asked what would happen if you spoke Latin since the TARDIS was already translating her English into Latin... it's actually a question I wondered ever since the translation thing was brought up back in "End of the World".
The Doctor's ability to see what's fixed and what can be changed is... well, I wasn't expecting it, and I'm not sure if I like it or not, though it does resolve why the Doctor sometimes claims he can't tamper with time, when he so often does anyway. And then there's the interesting paradox... the Doctor thinks he can't change time by trying to save the people of Pompeii because it's a fixed event, yet later it ends up that he's the one who decided to cause the volcano to explode in the first place!
What's on Donna's back, then?

I half loved it and half hated it
Donna became very hysterical, which was probably what I would do when 20,000 were about to die, but it got annoying after a while.
AJSJKASHAJSHGRAPHICS. GRAPHICS. GRAPHICS. ******** YEAH GRAPHICS. They were amazing, yay!
Also, the shadow proclaimation was mentioned in the first episode of NewWho against the living plastic.

RionaDaidouji Also, the Shadow Proclamation was mentioned again. Do you think it might be the Bad Wolf of this season, or just a coincidence?Methinks Bad Wolf. No way they'd just happen to mention it twice in two episodes - there seems to be more emphasis on intergalactic laws this season. I want the household gods panel from the end of the ep. I'd flick water at it everyday. I promise I would. Oooo... and the 'other daughter of London' thing. Obvious to us what it is, but how long do you think it'll take the Doctor to work it out?

According to RTD, there isn't a "link word" as such this year. A few things from each episode build up to get to the finale and things have been seeded right from Series One...

tennantsbutterfly According to RTD, there isn't a "link word" as such this year. A few things from each episode build up to get to the finale and things have been seeded right from Series One... 3nodding It seems likely that that Shadow Proclaimation are one of those few things though. Especially given the rumor that the Judoon have allegedly been seen in the filming block for the finale. An organisation drafting Galactic Law (as the Proclamation seems now to be) obviously requires Galatic policemen to enforce it. Put that together with the " What's in the Vault?" tease from the Radio Times, and we might guess that that's how Davros makes his reappearance - as a criminal held by the Judoon on behalf of the Shadow Proclaimation. But never mind all that! Like Hairy Priest said... what is on Donna's back? I feel pretty up on the season so far (did you all notice how every single line of Fires fits my Theme-o-meter? biggrin ) but that one's thrown me.

((Accidentally created another thread on the topic, sorry sweatdrop ))
Nice episode, nice blend of humor and plot. I loved the Water Pistol, seriously the Doctor has a Water Pistol in his coat pocket?
The Shadow Proclamation, whatever it may be, is going to play a huge role later in the season in my opinion.
They seem to enjoy reminding us about the Doctor's past a lot don't they, not that I mind.

Some cute references to the English Series in this one. A nod to The Romans was unavoidable, but the call-back to City of Death was an unexpected treat. smile

Saw it coming a mile off, but loved it anyway. smile Echoes a nice beat from the New Adventures in which Bernice complains about the number of times different cultures have created dieties based on the Doctor, only to be told that on at least one planet she's worshiped as a minor Goddess of Drunkeness.

Point taken, it was kinda obvious. I guess just about every human that the Doctor saves immediately seems to fall into some sort of Hero Worship. Though that's the one thing I like about Donna, she doesn't view the Doctor in the same way as Rose and Martha did, she allowed herself to put him in his place and she views him as more of Alien than a human, at least compared to Rose (who loved the Doctor) and Martha.
xd Minor? There's a Major Goddess of Drunkenness out there?
