"Dont stay out too late!"
Krinn thumped down on the street, straightening up as the door closed behind him. He dismissed Lans parting words with a careless wave, knowing he would abide by them even if it meant having to wait until the next day to get to the good part. Running along down the street, he eyed the disappearing cafe and turned a corner, smiling as he enjoyed the fresh scent of rain. The afternoon had turned out to have a slight downpour of rain, though it was hardly anything but a drizzle and townsfolk still wandered about, some with and some without umbrellas. He had recently been allowed to explore around the town, and because of that he had been very interested in getting out the door as soon as he could in the morning, or when he wasnt helping out around the pet shop. Of course, that was fun as well, so he didnt mind sticking around and helping the old man out. But today was for exploring the places Lan hadnt fully shown him, and running erands for the old man.
Reminding himself of the task given out, Krinn pulled out a small crooked sheet of paper from his pocket. The man had given him enough money to go buy more food and toys for the animals, and he would do that first to get it over with so he could continue exploring. Feeling the rain against his skin as he hopped along felt nice, and the dustchild turned down a corner and entered a small shop that sold accessories and food for animals of all shapes and sizes. Apparently the old man had connections and was friends with whoever ran the shop. A tall man with wire rimmed glasses and curly black hair glanced over and smiled. "Ah you must be here to pick up Sato's stuff, right?" Krinn frowned but nodded. He hadnt known the old mans name was Sato. "Mmhm." Grabbing two bags from the counter, he exchanged them for the money and ruffled Krinns hair much to Krinns displeasure. But he didnt say anything and instead stuck his tongue out at the show of affection but the man laughed at the show of unhappiness. Krinn would have guessed he had a brother or something by the way he was acting.
"Thanks for picking it up, if ya need anything more, just come down to the shop." He grinned and returned to behind the counter. "I'm Younka, if ya need anything more." He said, waving. "Krinn..." The dustchild stated, then waved. "I'll see you around Younka." Before stepping out onto the street and swinging the tote bags over his shoulder. How much had the old man bought? Pouting at the extra weight, he started to idle along and stopped almost instantly, his mind whirring at what extra routes there were to take.
Around the corner was a group, tightly huddled together and laughing at some stupid joke. They had been giving Krinn s**t the last few days he had been around, and the boy did not appreciate anything about it. Just showed how much of a coward they all were. They had done little to really upset him, but the boys were annoying enough to the point of yanking hair, calling him names from afar, and making faces along with tripping him. Krinn had always rolled his eyes and ignored him. It was all because of his dual color eyes and storm gray hair. Apparently it wasnt common in the town of Amies to see someone with a bit of difference in the way they looked. And of course, his skin was also rather pale, giving off the aspect that he had "lived in a cave" his entire life. Krinn didnt care that he was different, but the kids needed to give it a break.
Well atleast they hadnt seen him as of yet. Or so he hoped. Krinn stepped back and swerved in a beeline through the crowd, making for a backway, having learned the route from Lan awhile back. As long as he didnt encounter them his mood wouldnt go down. Krinn was having a good day infact, and he didnt want those cowards raining on his parade.

Having dropped off the said items at the shop - and getting a rather yummy treat to chew on as he started his exploring - Krinn stepped along, his thoughts buzzing off and his guard hanging down more then usual. He turned a corner into a back alley, eyeing the greenery that grew on the wire covering, flowers hanging down among vines with soft dew stretched on them and dripping from the sky. Krinn blinked as a water droplet landed on his face and shook it off, licking his fingers of the sugar treat he had devoured. Lan kept wondering how he could eat so much and stay at the same weight and height. With a inaudible sigh, the boy smiled, rushing along to a small abandoned courtyard. Tourists and others seemed to like coming to see all the undiscovered parts of the town, and so did Krinn. People walked past, their voices carrying across the empty air.
A fountain flowed in the center, and Krinn idled up to it, peering down into the shallow water where fish swam. Calico, gold, black, and white scales flashed beneath the surface, and Krinn watched in fascination, his reflection obsured by the droplets of rain falling onto the surface. Feeling pressure on his back, the boy didnt have time to yelp before being shoved into the water, coughing as his head went under for a moment. The fish darted away and he shoved himself up, soaking. Spitting up water, he coughed and turned his head towards the source. A boy with shaggy, untamed black hair and a smirk that said "sucker' stood before him, a group of boys a bit younger and older standing around him. Krinn counted seven, maybe eight. Jerks.
"What do you want now?" Krinn asked venemously, his eyes growing cold and hard like the desolate, storm clouds that sometimes dotted the sky. The kids looked at one another as the leader smiled and shrugged.
"Nothing. Just thought it was about time we made fun of the freak again."
Oh was he in for it, Krinn thought with a scowl. Not only had he brought his mood plummeting, but he was also the one responsible for soaking Krinn. Atleast he had gotten the supplies to the old man before having to deal with this absolute s**t. He would have been much more then just unhappy if they had ruined the supplies. This was far worse then anything else they had done before because now they were actually showing their faces about it. With a dark glance, Krinn contemplated how to get out of this new mess.

Standing up and stepping out of the fountain, his clothing dripping, Krinn glanced back to make sure his fall hadnt harmed the fish. It didnt look like they were anything but stunned. If the bully had made him harm the fish by accident he would have probably resorted to some pretty anger driven actions. Scowling at the other, he took a step toward him, his face dark and mad. How could they be so cruel? Apparently that was just how some people acted. "Go away, puh-lease. I dont want to deal with immature brats like you." He said, shaking his head and emphasizing the please with an irritating note in his voice to throw the others into an angry rage. Other then being a freak, they probably hated him for his ability to piss them off to no end.
The leader pulled back his lips in an ugly snarl and took a step towards Krinn, raising his hand dangerously. Krinn blinked and stepped back, almost tripping into the water again. Oops. Note to self, be careful when it comes to talking back to people in larger groups then yourself. "You'll pay for being a freak." the leader said defiantly. Krinn frowned and shrugged. "You'll pay for being a coward. I doubt you'd even think about trying to push me down without your possy 'round to try and back you up." Krinn stuck his tongue out childishly. "Coward."
The leader was about to lunge and bring them both to the ground when everyone stopped as a rumble of thunder shot out. It had only been such a light drizzle, but now it came down in harsh cold strokes over the boy and around the courtyard. Krinn was already soaked, so it didnt make much of a difference. The boy took a step back. He seemed haunted, or gloomy almost. "I feel really depressed...." One of the kids complained as the others panicked over the sudden change in weather. "This is all your fault, freak! Not only do you look wierd, but you make things wierd too! Come on lets get out of here!" The leader shouted, running off with his possy. As soon as they were gone, Krinn took a deep breath and sighed, flicking a wet strand of hair away from his head. For some reason, he highly doubted they would be back any time soon.
The weather lightened back up almost instantly as Krinn started on his way home for a change of clothing. Pausing, he pondered over what had just gone on. It was odd, and he hadnt even become consious that he was the real cause of the abrupt change in the downpour, and the mood in each of the boys decreasing into rapid depressive-ness. Unknown to Krinn, the boys were already feeling the heavy tug on their heartstrings lightening up as they talked about how the wierd events had played out.
Taught them not to rain on Krinns parade. Not like they were going to be doing it again anytime soon.
