"H-Hidaya?" He wasn't sure why he was nervous. Or, why he had a slight fluttering in his belly. He had something to ask, but he always asked Hidaya lots of things. Strange, but he looked to her for guidance, as a teacher. He'd never had much guidance from his parents - though that was mostly his fault - and Pekee still had a lot to learn.
"Are you here?" He wound through the rocky outcrop they had found themselves in, blinking his green eyes and twitching his nose. Her scent was certainly here but he couldn't figure out where it was freshest.
"I need to..." He lifted his head and glanced around. "Ask you something..." The last was said in a whisper.

The young cheeton had grown, quite much infact. Now an adolescent her limbs were longer, her fangs were sharper and so were her senses...and yet her innocent attitude hadn't changed one bit.
As she fished in a nearby river, she raised her head curiously at the sound of her friends voice, ears perked forward as she moved from the river and shook herself free of water.
"Pekee?" She called softly. "Where are you?"

"I-I'm over here." He pushed himself through a patch of undergrowth and shook his head to dismantle the leaves that clung to his ruff. Then, stalking forwards, looking sheepish and rather hesitant, he approached his friend with elegant, delicate steps.
"Been swimming?" He eyed her wet pelt and let his eyes cast down to the river. Water was fine for drinking, but he didn't think he'd ever want to set foot in the stuff. Crocs and all sorts lived in the water and he rather much liked his legs where they were.
He sniffed gently and moved to sit by the bank, watching the fish swirling, their scales glittering in the sun.
"You should be careful. Horrible beasties live in water. I saw one before in the jungle when I was growing up. It looked like a log but it wasn't. My mother--" He stopped. It wasn't often he spoke about his family. However, he continued, quietly. "She said it was a crocodile, that I should be careful of it because it could snap me up for breakfast."

The cheeton stared at him for a few seconds, looking into the water before she smiled sweetly like she always had since meeting him before placing her forepaws gently into the water.
"There isn't anything in here besides fish silly." She said, teasing him in a friendly manner, lifting one paw to place it atop of his before she looked at him with little more of a serious look.
If it was possible with this female.
"So...what did you wanna tell me?"

"Oh, um....yeah." He pulled one ear forwards towards her, looking undecided. "I...well...I've been thinking these past few days about what will happen when you go back to your parents after wandering." He paused, was unsure how to carry on.
He remembered his conversation with Akia distinctly and the hope it had brought into his heart that maybe he wasn't destined to be cast back into despair - as he had always secretly thought.
"I was wondering whether, when that time comes, if I could come with you." He continued hastily. "I mean, I don't like the thought of being alone again and...well...I'd quite like to meet them too."
"But if you'd rather I not then that's fine. I can understand that."

Hidaya had to think for a moment, watching him before she gave a thoughtful sound and let her ears pull forward as she thought over his proposal. Would her parents allow another to join their little group? To allow another cheetah into the group with her huge, lion father looking over everything?
After a few moments she smiled, watching him he furrowed her brows a little before moving over and licking his cheek. It was a sort of lick one would expect from a sibling or a dear friend...which she really hoped he considered her as. Her head then moving back as she looked at him.
"Sure you can! My mother and father would love to meet you!"

He waited, listening to his heart thumping. What if she said no? What if she said her parents wouldn't want some scraggly little cheetah hanging around the place? What if they dissaproved her friendship with him and told him to leave and never come back?
His ears pinned back and his eyes looekd almost pleading as she thought it over. She certainly looked like she was considering it.
And then she was moving towards him and giving him a lick on the cheek!
His jaw fell open as if it were on a hinge and the cheetah took a small step back, looking into her eyes, searching for an answer.
And then she spoke.
"R-really? Thank you Hidaya! You're the first proper friend I've ever had." When and how had he aquired such a stutter? He cleared his throat and felt the joy suffuse him. She was really going to let him come? Akia had been right! There wasn't any harm in a little hope.
And before he knew what was happening, Pekee'dunia was smiling.
