Past: From the moment he had hatched it seemed as though Bergen was alone. And indeed that was the case, all because of a turn of misfortune. Like all dragons he had parents, who laid only one lone egg in the nest and then had the hatching spell cast upon him. But he didn't hatch. It would seem that the magic didn't work and discouraged that they had done something wrong his parents left. Always returning now and then to see if there was any progress and then finally they didn't come at all. A terrible rock slide upon the mountain had claimed their lives.
Finally as though a miracle, Bergen's egg finally hatched. It seems that the magic cast on him was so weak that it had taken a whole twenty years for his egg to actually hatch. And though he had managed to come into the world, he was without parents and without siblings even, he had to fend for himself and learn everything himself. So he did. For the past seven years he had become nature smart. He had taught himself to hunt, to fish and to do everything that came natural to dragons. He even picked up a sort of sixth sense, an ability to read the weather like no other. When a storm was coming he would know hours or even days ahead of time and would move accordingly.
Bergen's home was the deep mountains and though he had learned to deal with the solitude that the world had given him, deep down he secretly wished for company, for the touch and feel of another dragon. Or for the very least company. Though he doesn't know how he should approach or even talk to another dragon, for he had never come across any others in his seven years of life. But he hopes to find out as he wanders, seeking signs that he is not alone.
