Nyack lifted his head as night descended upon him. His long sleep over, he was ready, ready to hunt. However, he knew it'd be hard to bring anything down by himself.

He heaved a sigh and curled his tail around him. He was hungry again. He didn't dare ask his band for help. He should be able to handle this on his own. Not to mention he'd wandered slightly far from them. In fact, he believed Taban would move off without him. He was lonely again. He felt the pang of wanting a pride starting to rise again.

He cast his eyes upward and watched as the sun died on the horizon, chased away by the moon. Was it lonely? After all, the moon and the sun only met once every once in a great while. He just wanted someone to speak with, to understand, to order him about. He was good at taking orders. He'd never make a good leader but as a follower? Well he fancied himself the best.

All he had to do was find someone who needed following. Which, apparently was easier said then done. The green maned lion shook himself and lopped down a hillside toward where he remembered a herd had been.

An hour later, Nyack gave a loud roar of pain. Horns connected with his body and slammed him to the ground. It was instinct that made him roll just as the hooves of the large buck came crashing down. Content that he'd saved his herd from the threat, the male galloped off, leaving the lion in the dirt.

The lion pulled himself up long after the creature had disappeared into the night and favored his leg. It was bent at an odd angle that he knew wasn't right. He licked it and nosed it but it only caused more pain and he jerked his head away from it. Great, now what did he do? The pain was unfathomable. He could CRAWL but that wouldn't be very helpful, would it?

Plus water buffalo might come back to finish him off. That was a scary thought... He growled at the moon, blaming its light for causing him to be seen... only to catch sight of something his mind couldn't believe. A flying... lion? His violet eyes widened as he took her in. Was it... an illusion from the pain? What if it was a God? A mean God?

What if it was a good one? That could mean help. He lifted his head and roared a greeting toward the sky lion.

The roar pulled Sanaa out of the revere she fell into when flying a long distance, her mind elsewhere making technical plans that were then neatly tucked away till she needed them. Bottle green eyes blinked as she came back to herself and glanced down, catching sight of a lion below her looking up. Seems the call had come from him, and with the direction of his gaze, it was her he addressed with it. It amused the goddess a little, that he had the audacity to call to her like that. Most mortals stood in awe of her and her kind, wary of doing anything to draw their ire.

Shifting the alignment of her tri paired wings, the golden goddess drifted in a lazy circle, spiraling downward with the male in the center. She glided effortlessly closer, as at ease in the sky as any fish was in the water.

Finally, creamy paws touched down a short distance from the male and the goddess flicked her wings before closing them majesticly against her side. She regarded this new male with a curious gaze, the night hiding many details. Still, she was able to see he was hurt.

"You called me, Mortal. What is it you want of me? If you are looking for healing... I'm afraid I will not be much use to you." She said, her voice deep and strong.

Nyack watched in wonder as the winged lion glided around him, his head following her. He was reminded of a leaf... blowing down to earth in a gentle breeze. Her items twinkled in the moonlight and he found himself wondering if she was the Goddess of Stars.

When she landed, he realized how much trouble he could be in. He took on a stance of submission the best he could and flickered his tail nervously. She had called him 'Mortal' was that a bad thing?

Terrified of her at this point, Nyack bowed his head to Sanaa and tried to lift himself to be more polite. This landed him right back on the ground as soon as he tried to put pressure on his leg. He craned his head to look back at it. It shouldn't be bent like that; his mind kept reminding him. He turned his violet eyes to her and hoped they were enough to show her he meant no ill intentions.

"I... I saw you and I... thought I was... mistaken I've.. never met a Goddess...." He rambled, ducking his head. He was disappointed to know she couldn't heal him. He'd called her down from her important business and she couldn't even help him. Surely that meant something bad.

He pulled his tail closer to him and kept is gaze low. All of Taban's teachings slipping out of his mind in fear. "I... just... need a way to walk... Its... its facing the wrong way and I can't get up... Could you please, if you know of anything, help me? I'll do anything you ask in return!" He was desperate and it showed. "I... I'll do anything! Anything..." He repeated ears lowering further.

He wasn't sure what 'anything' he had to offer.

Sanaa shook her head as she looked him over with her critical eyes, studying and calculating, weighing and measuring. She knew something of a lion's foreleg, how could she not?, but how to 'fix' a mortal was something she had never had to attempt before.

Her convoluted mind twisted and churned, equasions spinning through them faster than light, before she stepped forward, the light of the stars catching and glinting on the cold, hard metal of her prosthetic foreleg.

"I suppose you want to keep your leg, hmm? It will complicate things, but perhaps I can do something... So that you know for the future, I don't deal in leaving things, Mortal. I create things that do not live, and if broken, can be repaired." She failed to mention that her ultimate goal was to build a living being, but it wasn't important for him to know that. "Lay still... I imagine this is going to hurt."

She bent to wrap her powerful jaws around his leg, bracing it with her forepaws. A limb was much like a simple contraption of pieces conneced by something that stretched. She'd had instances where machines popped out of the position they needed to run in, and it had often been as simple as popping them back into place... with this hope in mind, she pulled and pushed, giving her head a jerk that was strong enough to fight the pull of his muscles, but weak enough not to rip the limb clean off his body. Bone snapped back into place, but it didn't sound too pleasant. She held him for a moment, just to make sure he didn't thrash about and undo her work.

He stared at her, unable to poiletely look away. She was just too...He didn't even have a word for it! There was just a magic about her that made him want to praise her or hide and tremble like a new born cub.

The male jerked out of his trance, however, when she mentioned keeping his leg. He pinned his ears back and lowered his head. "Y-Yes I-I'd liek to ke-keep it..." He said slowly, almost edging away. He listened closely to her words, absorbing them, rollling them around in his head. So he was lucky. "Things that do not live?" He questioned curiously until she stepped near his leg. He could take pain... he hoped.

He bucked as her mouth and paws wrapped around the very sore leg but tried to hold as still as possiable. CRACK! Nyack let out a yowl that would put any cat to shape, pushing his paws over his muzzle, tail flipping wildly but keeping his leg still. The muscles in his body twitched the pain seeming to go through every inch of his body.

Holy s**t that hurt!

The goddess grunted as he screamed and thrashed, tasting blood in her mouth as a few of her diamond-hard fangs pierced through his fur. Not bad wounds, truly, so she didn't bother to dwell on them.

When he seemed to have regained control of himself, she let go and sat back to lick her jaws and her paw, making sure no blood marred them. "You should be more careful in the future, or make sure you're near something that knows healing." A green eye slanted up to study the male as breath hissed though her teeth, the great wings on her back gently ruffling. Better to distract him from the pain now, so hopefully he'd forget about it for a little while.

"Yes, things that don't live. Things like those I'm wearing." She lifted her real paw to make her jewelry dance for him, opening a wing to show the charms dangling from a few feathers. "I also make things that... do things. Like containers to hold water and store it in a place where there isn't any. Just... things to make life easier."

The male wanted to reach back and cleaning the area with his tongue until it stopped hurting but didn't want to make the Goddess mad, so left it alone. "I'll keep that in mind..." He gave her a pained smile.

He listened as she began to explain her jewelery. He was awed by such trinkets and by her explanation on the other things he couldn't see. She had to be incredibly smart. "What do you use to make them? Do you create them with magic?" He was also trying to distract himself from the pain but half of his mind as focused on it.

"Will my leg work now?" He asked wondering how something that felt that bad could opperate.

Sanaa shook her head as she set her paw on the ground again.

"There's no magic to it, only thought and care." She said as she plucked a few strands of grass from nearby, showing him how to tie the ends together, making a loop for a rough kind of bracelet. "If you can imagine it, there is a way to do it. Its my specialty to find those ways and to make them work." The goddess offered the grass loops to him as she sat back, eyeing the leg they'd 'worked' on.

"Like I said, I don't know a whole lot about how the living things work... but I'm thinking that you shouldn't put weight on it. If it hurts, its probably not a good thing. It would be best if your rested until it doesn't hurt, or hurts less." She frowned at him, her active mind assessing her suggestion. As far as she knew, living things needed to each regularly, and to eat, they needed to hunt. He couldn't hunt with a bad leg... which ment he wouldn't get the food that would give him energy. Then when the leg was healed, he wouldn't have the energy to hunt, and it would become a cycle that would destory him.

The thought made her ruffle her wings, turning her eyes away as she thought hard.

The male looked extremely surprised that a blade of grass could be looped. He took them and placed them in front of him to investigate. He wondered if Taban knew of such a use for grass. "Well you must put a lot of thought and care in. Your work is beautiful."

Nyack frowned and looked back at his leg. "I'll need to get up sometime..." He muttered giving it a once over. "There's nothing that can..." He paused searching for the right words. When two things were broken it meant that they were in two pieces. He had a feeling the same applied to his bones in his legs. "... hold the pieces together?" He finally offered feeling relatively stupid.

He too was picturing the cycle and he laid his head down, ears going back. If he was lucky maybe someone would run across him. Of course that was only chance and whither they were going to help him or hurt him was another matter entirely.

The goddess blinked at the mortal in suprise. Why hadn't that occured to her? Of course, when things were broken, to repair them she had to make the pieces stay together! Sanaa shook her head at herself, scolding inside her head.

"That's a good idea. Something to hold it together... Usually I'd take something of the same material and attach one end to each of the broken pieces. I don't think I can do that with your leg, but perhaps I can get the same effect another way." She rose and fluffed her wings open, curling the outermost golden pair inwards towards her. With a quick motion and hardly a whince, the goddess ripped a couple of the pinions free from the wing, a splatter of red drops falling to the ground.

"Come here." Sanaa commanded as she flipped her wings shut and held the feathers up to her face, a glow lighting the night as she blew onto the feathers. Fire burst from her lips in a stream to wash over the feathers, making them gleam and soften like metal. A few swipes with her mechanical leg smoothed them out and lengthened them, the gold like very thick mud in her claws. While she waited for him, she set them aside and began to rip grass from the ground, piling it beside the stretched and straightened feathers.

He shook his head, agreeing. "No, I don't think so..." He returned, looking back at his leg curiously. There didn't seem to be a way to do that.

He watched in amazement as she started to work on the feathers, changing their form. So this was the power of a Goddess. It was so amazing, so brilliant that he hardly could look away. Only when she spoke did he snap out of the trance.

He pulled himself up, making sure not to put any pressure on his leg and limped to the female's side. He stared up at her, his ears going back. Once again he was terrified of her great power and wondered what he could possibly do in return to help her. "Thank you for your kindness to me... Is there anything I can do to repay you?"

The fear of the injured male seemed to go unnoticed by the goddess as she worked, intent on the grass she wove together with unusual dexterity. Her mechanical leg helped a good deal, its digits more nimble than the ones of her real paw. She had taken a lesson from the apes with that device, though she had been loathe to make it actually look like an ape's crude paw. A small vanity she allowed herself.

A flat rope took shape, falling in coils before her. It seemed as though she hadn't heard his question, till she finally replied. "There is little you can do for me in your present state." She said simply, truthfully. "You can't carry heavy loads and you can't perform the delicate movements that would allow you to do lighter work. Until you heal, you are entirely useless to me. I'm searching now for followers to supply me with materials for my work, but you would not be able to do that. Beyond that, well... I have need for little else."

Finally the rope was done and she turned to him, moving to sit beside him though she rather towered over the mortal. Straightening his leg out to where she thought it should be, she pressed the left over grass around it, followed by the hardened feathers as support. The rope was then wrapped around the whole of it, binding it tightly together. It was neatly done, if not with much worry for how mortal flesh might respond to it. A little heavy from the gold, maybe, but now it would not bend and would stay together, giving the whole a chance to heal.

"There. I'm afraid more is beyond my domain, but it should do you well enough until you can find a true healer to help you."

Nyack watched, unable to tear his eyes away from her work. However, at the mention of not being able to do anything his ears went back. "Once I heal then!" He insisted, staring up at her with kind and eager eyes. "I can help you then! I travel with my troupe to many prides and places. Surely I can find things that you need once I can carry them!"

He had to fight against yowling as his leg was touched and straightened. He closed his eyes, unable to look back to see what was going on. Once she was done he glanced back and stared in wonder. His leg looked almost like hers to a point. It was amazing. "Wow..." He murmured and moved it experimentally. "Thank you... thank you so much. This will do perfectly. I wish I could return the favor to you."
PostPosted: Tue Sep 16, 2008 7:30 pm

Sanaa chuckled softly as she lifted an eyebrow, looking over the brown male.

"If that is what you wish, then come to me when you're healed and I'll put you to work." She said, amusement in her voice. She really couldn't see anything useful about an injured male. It was hard to imagine he'd be any better in the future... In her experience, once something broke and she couldn't fix it... well, it didn't get any better with time. If anything, it got worse, so it made sense that she was skeptical of this healing ability mortals had. Gods were different, of course, she understood that.

"Look for the smoking mountain, Nyack, and you will find my den in the side of it, where the light glows orange from the mouth of the cave. Its both my home and my workshop, and a home to those of my followers that wish to say with me. If I'm not there, chances are one of my followers will be and will know where to find me. Do you think you can remember that?" Another dubious prospect... how good was mortal memory? They didn't live as long as gods, so it would make sense that they're memory wasn't as long...

Nyack perked up and nodded enthusiastically. "I'll come find you at the smoking mountain!" He says eagerly storing all the information she gave him. He wondered what caused the orange light but decided he'd find out once he went to her home. Followers? He looked perhaps more excited then before.

"Of course I can! I'll remember it and I'll come see you as soon as I'm healed!" He promised with a grin. The aspect of having work to do to repay her made him happy. He laid his head down tired from the pain. "Thank you again."
