..What would happen?

(Omit global warming for a moment.)

From my understanding, we have a natural green house effect that keeps us alive. Well, rather, it makes earth liveable for a variety of animals and plants.

So, if in the case we did not have any sort of natural green house effect, what would happen to the earth as a whole? Would the plant life die out, what would happen to the animals (including ourselves) that live here?

Adaptation would take effect. Those that can adapt in time to survive would, and those that couldn't would die off.

It's as simple as that.

Cold would happen. Lots, and lots, of cold.

Adaptation would likely be extinction.

I think the current issue is more that it happens in excess more than it just happening.

Wiki says that if we didn't have it, it'd probably be around -2.2 degrees Fahrenheit on average. I bet that if the greenhouse effect magically disappeared only humans and cockroaches would be left.
