(Spoiler)Itachi passed his eye techniques on to Sasuke before dying, and it seems that Madara is beginning an explanation of how Itachi was... Heroic?
That's pretty much the last word I would have ever pinned to Itachi prior to this recent chapter.
So what are your reactions/opinions?(/Spoiler)

I've lost some amount of respect for him. I liked him as a cold, badass murderer type character, why must they justify his killings? Dx

I do like him as a bad guy, but I also like him as a good guy too, cause I love him! I know about Itachi passing on the amaterasu techniqur to Sasuke, which is set to go off when Madara's Sharingan is activated, and that it was in fact Itachi' mission to kill the entire clan, and no one did anything to stand up for him, stuoid elders! Gah! They suck...maybe he left Sasuke also as a way to make up for having to kill the entire clan, not just a back up plan

{Spoilerific!!! XP} I just finished reading chapter 399 and it turns out the the Uchiha clan had plotted a Coup D'tat against Konoha and Itachi was their spy, of course to spy on the Uchiha Clan. Darn Elders! And the Third Hokage didn't believe a word of what they were saying, that moving them to a corner of the village was wrong and thats why they plotted against tham

Itachi was a spy for the elders and was also a "spy" for the Uchiha. he was a double agent and his father was the leader and Itachi saw people get killed left and right during the 3rd ninja war, so he took it on himself to take out the Uchiha the keep the peace, cuase if the Uchiha did attack Konoha, then it could have started a 4th war and he asked Madara Uchiha to help him. There was only one thing, he couldn't kill Sasuke, so he gave hima reason to be strong, to help him and he begged that Sasuke never be told or harmed or he would tell other countries everything he knew about Konoha

Itachi was never evil in the first place he killed his family because he wanted SASUKE to be loved. Yes he loves Sasuke to peices. He killed them so that way the Village would love Sasuke Uchiha the only Uchiha who left who still lived in the village. So he acted evil and joined the Akatsuki to exude his being evil he wasnt he was just a DAMN good Actor....He acted horridly towards Sasuke so Sasuke would kill him when he was strong enough. When Sasuke found out from Itachi why he did it he wanted to get revenge on the Village for making ITachi Sad .....PRETTY Twisted isnt it.

Itachi is NOT evil.He only killed his clan because the Hokage ordered him to do so because the Uchihas infact hated Konohagakure and were planning to start a war.The reason of why he spared Sasuke's life is that,basicaly,he couldn't bring himself to do it. Then,he joined Akatsuki because Madara Uchiha,or Tobi as some may know him(yay,Tobi! heart ),sort of forced him to.
