The seraphim was out of the house again, his wings fluttering as he hovered, dipped and swirled in the air, his antics hidden by the trees around him. He had somehow gotten rather bored with flying indoors, and he doubted that the others would like it if he crashed into yet another fragile item again.
Humming a soft, but catchy tune, he danced in the air, bobbing his head to the beat as he did so. None of his family members knew his passion for music, no not even his father, the one who had ignited the flame inside of him when he heard him play. Everyone thought he was too playful, too...well. Not serious. And so, Valdaglerion had kept his secret love a mystery.

Like rain drops in the night, eggs cracked down too and produced forthwith small and tiny kits that had eyes as small as jelly beans and curiosity the size of the vast sky. There was something pure and innocent about the whole thing, but this particular kitsu never quite had the time to think it through. She was questioning herself and the place she'd been born into. She didn't know who she was, and she couldn't even walk very well... let alone keep her eyes open long... but there was a keen fascination with the surrounding colors outside her eye lids. Thusly, she'd produced for herself a fairly complicated name for something so tiny, and had tried to communicate with some other worldly things, to no avail.
Shamefully, she found she couldn't squeak like them. Couldn't chirp. Couldn't hiss. Couldn't do much of anything. She couldn't make any sound at all. When she opened her mouth and tried to cause a natural reaction to occur, it wouldn't. And so, currently, little Kiwi (as she shortened her long name to when she often thought of herself in her head) was lying down exasperated beneath the trees when she heard it.
She'd heard many things in the first few hours of life, but nothing like that. There was a beautiful harmony to it that none of these things on the ground seemed to have. Eagerly, she jumped up, fell over due to balance problems, got up again and rushed forward, trying to follow the music. For something the size of a rather large rabbit, she moved pretty fast and found herself trying to claw up a tree. Could she fly like the birds?
No. Probably not. That was probably a very bad idea. But then how could she get close? She needed to see where that sound was coming from. And then, with a yelping squeak, she fell out of the tree. It was the first sound she'd ever made... and the only. And for some reason, it made her throat hurt and she was unable to make it again. Head spinning, she shut her eyes tight and curled up. This was definitely painful, and although she didn't quite know what pain was... she didn't like it.

Of course, without knowledge that anyone was around listening, his voice slowly grew louder, and he danced about, adding more loops to his dance in the air. He was so absorbed in it that he didn't even notice, or hear anyone. This was, after all, his secret place, and he had told no one of it.
Then of course, he heard that squeak as he plummeted down to the ground with a flap of his wings, pulling himself into the air just in time. Normally, he would be proud to have accomplished this hard stunt of his. If he didn't concentrate properly, he would have crashed into the ground. Frowning, he landed on a grass patch, blue eyes darting about to search for this intruder. Fluttering only the middle pair of his wings, he used the other two to glide over to the kit. "Are you okay?" He couldn't exactly scold her for intruding into his private time. She was a kit, and she was hurt.

In life, from the little she'd already learned, the tiny kit covered in music notes had realized that nothing everything was the same. Some things had a different color or pattern and some things moved while others remained still. Nobody had told her that things similar to her could fly... and nobody had told her they could be so breathlessly fascinating. One small eye opened, colorless as of yet, but still contracting and expanding to filter in the light, and stared at the winged thing before her.
If she could've, she would've most certainly cried in pain, but as it was, she couldn't even do that. Tears did form in her eyes, but they didn't fall. Quickly, she buried her head under her paws and rubbed at her ears. It was a helpless and altogether useless gesture... but it made the pain dissipate slightly, which was more than enough. The sound of his voice was captivating for one as small as she, and she did so desire a better look at this ... melodic thing. Whatever it was.
Wobbling to a stance that was an obvious attempt at standing, she hobbled a little before collapsing again. No good. Her small paws were barely used to carrying her, let alone getting up after such a tremendous fall... and her head hurt. Far more than it should. Pulling her ears back, she peered up pathetically at the angel-like kitsu. He was colorful, like her, and he was flying. A plus and another plus. To add to this... he'd been .... making noise. Hadn't he? It wasn't a kind of... speech, or the squeaking she could do on occasion, it was ...beautiful. Yes. She supposed that word fit. (She simply put her thoughts together using anything she'd picked up in the first few moments of life... and at HQ so many people chit chat that there was plenty to learn!)
Despite her injuries, she offered him a tiny smile, showing proudly the markings on her fur and her bravery. She figured this was the kind of thing you did when you met someone... of course... she had no idea, for no one had told her. All she knew was it felt more correct to look nice than it did to look sour, and since she was injured already... it would pay not to get injured more. Basic life lessons.
If they worked.

He hovered above the kit, the dark pink halo floating above his head. It wasn't hard for one to imagine he was like an angel. When she couldn't seem to speak, he simply assumed that he had shocked her. What was it that seraph had said? His kind was rather rare. It had been a surprise in their house (so he heard) when his mother got pregnant.
Blue eyes noticed the markings on her fur and he gasped. They were music notes...weren't they? He had seen, or at least, caught a glimpse of his father's music scores, and recognized them immediately. "Um...what's your name? Where are your parents?" Really, what was a little kit doing wandering around in the forest?

Captivated with him for another moment, her ears twitched at the question and then she looked down at her paws. Against the hideously dark ground of the surrounding forest, she stuck out like a sore thumb. Bright pinks, purples and strange symbols? But he stuck out more. Even his colors were brighter than her own. But even that question couldn't warrant an answer, not even with his bright strangeness.
For how might she answer? There was no possible way she could speak like he did. And she could not write. No sound, no motions. Only expressions, and this one of shame was blatant enough: she didn't know. Perhaps she knew her name, but how could she tell him? And perhaps she knew her parents... but of course she did not. She had awoken alone. Staring back up at the strange looking kitsu, she looked about to cry again, and shook her head. No answer.

Well, yes, he was quite odd, being half blue and half pink at the same time. Moreover, he was a boy, of all things! Still, Valda had never really complained about his looks. It wasn't like he could change them anyway.
"Uh..." He put his head to a side, confused. "So let's see...you don't know where your parents are? And you don't know how to talk?" It was awkward though. He himself as a kit had started out with a few squeaks, and quickly progressed to chatter about wanting to fly. So why wasn't she talking? The possibility that she was mute didn't occur to him.

If she could've groaned and whimpered, she was sure would've. Not that she really understood what those sounds were, but she understood the concept and felt they would have been appropriate. Yet... she could do none of these. No signs of life... she had a feeling this odd treatment would continue throughout her life unless she learned to write. But how?
She wasn't even sure she knew what writing was, much less if it could do her any kind of good. Struggling to her feet at last, she sat more properly in front of him, looking like a tiny kit that didn't know right from left and was still grateful to be recognized by this godly...thing. She nodded her head yes, he was correct with his questions. She couldn't talk, and she didn't know her parents. Brilliancy.

He sighed, scratching the back of his head with a paw, his wings giving another lazy flap to keep him in the air. He really was getting nowhere with this, was he?
"Well, that's weird. I mean, shouldn't your parents be around when you hatched?" His were, and Axis's too. Please don't say she got abandoned. He groaned mentally. What kind of parents were they? As for talking well...He stared at her for a moment then sighed. "C'mon. I'll bring you to my home. Someone there might know your parents." With so many kitsusagi about, there was bound to be a connection somewhere.

For some reason, she took the gesture as a sort of annoyance, and hung her head and drooped her ears. She hadn't meant to trouble the other. And this was most certainly turning into a weird situation. Parents... she really didn't even know what they were. But they certainly hadn't been there when she had hatched. Were they supposed to be? Did they look like her?
Blinking, she tilted her head at the offer, not really understanding. Her tails flicked back and forth calmly. What did he mean bring her to his home? And someone could know her parents? What did that mean? She was pretty sure if she didn't know these... parents... nobody else could. But why did she have to go? It made no sense, but she didn't know how to communicate this, and made the motion of looking exasperated but being truly unable to do so. Even her sighs didn't make a sound.

Well, Valdaglerion couldn't just leave a little kit, that had just got hurt, in the middle of the forest, could he? Besides, it wasn't as if he had anything better to do for now.
He flew forward towards the house, and then looked back when he realized she wasn't following and frowned slightly. "Oh come on, you're not gonna stay here forever." He waved a blue paw around dismissively. He liked the surroundings yes, it was why he came here often to sing and dance, but home...was home. "There are a lot others at my house anyway."

Follow him? He wanted her to follow him? To a ...house? To a home? Was that what he meant? That seemed very strange. Extremely strange. Why? She didn't know what a home was. She didn't have one. In fact, compared to the other, she seemed to have nothing. Even he had a ...no. Did he have a name? He hadn't told her. The conversation had revolved around curious questions about her up till this point.
Kaiiko'kii peered up at him, and then swallowed nervously. Others? Lots of them? This was pretty... scary enough. One of him. Were the others all kinds of colors? Or did they look like him, she wondered. Perhaps they would be nice too. He was certainly nice. So she set one paw forward, and then... because she was so tiny... she trembled and began to walk as best she could, which wasn't very good at all.

Well, she hadn't asked him his name, and well, very often, Valdaglerion forgot to introduce himself, lest someone reminded him. Besides, he didn't know her name either.
Nice. Well, the seraphim could be pretty nice; he had helped a kit to untangle his wings and fly before. It was just that he had never used that word to describe himself before. It was usually the words, active, mischievous, clumsy (well, when he was younger, that was). He looked back to make sure she was following before fluttering ahead. "Don't worry, they're all pretty nice." It wasn't long till they reached Trelweny's house and he opened the door, peeking inside. No one was about; it seemed as though they were all in the rooms behind the magic door.

Stumbling along, and always glancing up at him when she was glancing at her feet, she only tripped once or twice. This was certainly a new and interesting experience. Wandering through the woods following a strange winged kitsu. Surely she was lost now, but she really wasn't even positive of what that meant, so she figured it couldn't have mattered too much. Not really, anyway. Nice? She knew that. She hoped so. Especially if there were a lot of them...
Stopping at the door, right behind Valdaglerion, Kaiiko'kii nearly tumbled forward, but halted and looked up at him. Tilting her head to the side and flicking her ears back she wondered if there was a problem.

There wasn't much of a problem, he just needed to think about which room he needed to go. And concentrate, lest he landed up in the wrong room.
He closed his eyes for a moment, thinking and then opened them again, fluttering up to the doorknob and twisting it, revealing rows of books. The library. Yes. And it seemed like the kitsusagi he was looking for was here, luckily enough.
"Axis." He called the redhead, fluttering forward and motioning to the pink kit to follow. "This kid's lost."
