Sister Lucentas: Wewt!
KK's on Gaia right now.
Elder Garcia: Is he?
Sister Lucentas: Should I send him a PM?
Elder Garcia: Sure
Sister Lucentas: 'Kay.
Hey Sister Gryph!
Sister Gryphex: Hi!
Elder Garcia: Okay, so I've been thinking about this when I've been talking to Sister Lucentas and I'
I'm going to have a special meeting next Sunday
Not this coming Sunday but the Sunday afterwards
One of my friends is going to join us as he's going to pretend he's a nonmember and we're going to teach him the gospel
Sister Gryphex: That's clever.
Elder Garcia: So I highly recommend that in that time, we try and get as many people on here as possible
Sister Lucentas: Sounds cool.
Okay, I'll let my friend know about it.
Sister Gryphex: So, everyone?
Nonmembers should come too?
Elder Garcia: They can be here too
They don't have to participate if they don't want to. They can just watch
But if they want to ask questions, that's okay too
Sister Gryphex: Just now to figure out who to invite.
Hm...
Sister Lucentas: Ah, KK can't come.
He's at a friend's house.
Elder Garcia: Okay
Sister Gryphex: Puppyluver won't be here because she has her activity tonight.
Elder Garcia: Another thing I want to bring up is that I want to make a goal to invite at least one nonmember to a meeting
Sister Gryphex: You know, I know someone who might be able to make it even now.
Elder Garcia: I'm sad to say that I don't know any nonmembers
Sister Gryphex: I know one. He's online now.
Elder Garcia: Invite him
Sister Lucentas: Another friend of mine might be interested.
I'm not sure what his schedule is, but I'll let him know about the meetings.
Elder Garcia: That's good
Sister Gryphex: Invite him? Alrighty then. Hold on.
Never mind. He just logged off.
sad
Elder Garcia: It's okay
How does everyone feel right now?
Sister Lucentas: I'm awesome. xD
I'm in high spirits.
Brawl + friend over = teh happy
Elder Garcia: What about you Sister Gryphex?
Sister Gryphex: I'm feeling well.
Elder Garcia: Right now, I feel spiritually excited
I'm excited to branch out and share with others
Sister Lucentas: Awesome.
That's a great feeling.
Elder Garcia: So today, we'll be talking about Truth
Or more precisely the Bible vs the Book of Mormon
Now, out of the Old Testiment, how much of it is true?
Sister Gryphex: Is that a trick question?
Elder Garcia: Nope
I'm totally serious
Sister Gryphex: Last I checked, it's all true.
Elder Garcia: Now is that because everyone has told you it's true or because you've found that out for yourself?
Sister Lucentas: It's true except for the parts that were tweaked by either unscrupulous or ignorant people.
Yes, I'm still here, I just got momentarily distracted.
Elder Garcia: Okay, that's a good answer
I'm not here to question what you two believe about the Bible, but to open your minds
This is what Elder Drake did to me
Let's start near the beginning with Noah's Ark
Was that true?
Sister Lucentas: Basically.
Some aspects in our KJV have been altered from the original account, though.
Elder Garcia: Like?
Seven of every kind of animal instead of two?
How many of each kind of animal was on the Ark?
Sister Lucentas: Most sources say two.
But I don't think we'll ever know for sure the particulars of the story until we can hear it from Noah himself.
Elder Garcia: That's true
Would you agree that the logistics of the Ark according to the Bible would seem unbelievable?
Or disagree?
Sister Lucentas: Hm...
Elder Garcia: Let's say that there were two of every kind of animals on the Ark. How many animals are there in the world?
How long were they on the Ark?
Months right?
How much do animals eat?
A lot
Sister Lucentas: We just don't know all of the details yet.
That's no reason to disbelieve.
Elder Garcia: It's reason to wonder
I don't disbelieve
Sister Lucentas: Well, wonder and disbelief are two different things.
But basically, finding something hard to believe doesn't mean it can't be true.
I mean, if you had told someone just 100 years ago that people would walk on the moon, they'd call up the nice guys in white suits.
Elder Garcia: I know that
Crud
I have to go help out with the cleaning
Sister Gryphex, are you still here?
Sister Gryphex: Yeah.
Elder Garcia: Can you two carry on without me for a bit
Sister Lucentas: Sure thing.
Elder Garcia: Just discuss the stories in the Old Testiment for now
Sister Lucentas: Okay.
Elder Garcia: I'll be back in a bit
Sister Lucentas: 'Kay.
So Sister Gryph, what do you think about the stories in the Old Testament as far as scientific, historical, and logistical plausibility?
Sister Gryphex: Forgive me because I'm really bad with words. It all just makes sense to me. There are a lot of people I've spoken to about the scriptures and they say it just couldn't have happened. It all just... fits.
Sister Lucentas: Yeah...I think the events in the Old Testament are essentially true.
Some particulars of the events might have been skewed or even misinterpreted over the years, but at the cores are real events.
I think the Pearl of Great Price does a great job conveying the events more clearly.
As do several recently discovered apocryphal works such as the book of Enoch.
Sister Gryphex: Yes, the Pearl of Great Price does make it more understandable. There are some times when I really wish that it was explained that way in the Bible. It would make it a lot simpler to explain things to people.
Sister Lucentas: Indeed, it would.
I think it's because the Bible tends to explain events in a relatively simplistic way.
I mean, just compare the story of the Fall as documented in the Bible with the one in the PGP.
The PGP account is vastly more mature in its recount of the events, I think.
Throughout the years, scribes had a tendency to misinterpret things, or even replace things they couldn't understand.
Sister Gryphex: I'm sure things were added as well.
Sister Lucentas: Quite possibly, yes.
I'm not really sure where Elder Simetra was planning on going with this lesson...
Wonder when he'll be back...
Sister Gryphex: He was telling me how they're fixing up the house. One room effects another and another... it's a big project, or so it sounds.
Sister Lucentas: Ooh.
Yeah...I kinda ran out of ideas. xD;
And I really don't want to bore you with my crazy lectures.
Sister Gryphex: It's not that I'm worried about.
I'd rather just listen anyway. Maybe I'd actually learn something.
Elder Garcia: Back
So what went on?
Hello?
Anybody?
Sister Gryphex: Nothing much.
Sister Lucentas said a lot of great stuff while you were off though.
Elder Garcia: I bet!
Sister Lucentas: Oh, hey, yeah, welcome back. xD;
Sorry, got kinda distracted again.
Elder Garcia: So what's one thing we can say about the Bible?
Sister Lucentas: It's a book. razz
Elder Garcia: Though it holds many truths, some of the things within it have been changed and can be inaccurate
What about the Book of Mormon?
Sister Lucentas: It's tremendously true.
Like Joseph Smith said, it's the most correct book on the planet.
Sister Gryphex: I'll second and third that.
Elder Garcia: So why do we have the Book of Mormon?
Sister Gryphex: So it can help us understand the Bible better?
Sister Lucentas: It's a second witness of Jesus Christ.
Elder Garcia: Let's say that you know the Bible
And because you know it, it's firm
So you put a nail in it
And you hammer it down, but with time, you can slowly twist and turn it
If you get somebody who knows that Bible a lot, pretty soon they can twist and turn it anyway they want
Soon, they're turning the truths any which way
Well, with another book, you get another nail
If you place the Book of Mormon on top of the Bible and hammer in that nail, you can't turn the words anymore
It's firm
Immovable
And the words will always point to God
Sister Lucentas: Wow, that's a cool analogy, Elder.
Elder Garcia: Elder Drake taught me it
Sister Lucentas: Nice.
Elder Garcia: Are you here Sister Gryphex?
Sister Gryphex: Yes.
Elder Garcia: Okay
So there's the Old Testement, the New Testament, and the Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ
And because we have these books, the word of God cannot be altered any which way
Elder Garcia: Sister Puppy?
Elder Garcia: Aw, she left
So what did we learn today?
Sister Lucentas: That the scriptures are awesome.
Sister Gryphex: smile
Elder Garcia: lol
Break it down
Sister Gryphex: That the scriptures are solid, and strengthen testimonies.
Elder Garcia: Yeah
Can we go even smaller than that?
Sister Gryphex: They're TRUE!
Elder Garcia: Pure and simple, but explain it as though I didn't understand
Sister Lucentas: Do you make these questions difficult on purpose?
Elder Garcia: If I didn't would you grow?
Sister Lucentas: Lol.
Touche.
Sister Gryphex: The scriptures are books that teach us what is right and wrong. They were written years ago by people who the Lord himself chose, and they're for us to help us learn and grow, and live lives like the Lord wants us to.
How's that?
Elder Garcia: That's good
Sister Gryphex: smile
Elder Garcia: I believe in the Bible just as strongly as I believe in the Book of Mormon. I also believe that both books work hand in hand. We cannot have the Book of Mormon without the Bible. They teach the same principles. I know that both of them were written my prophets of God
Sister Lucentas: That's true.
Elder Garcia: Bear your testimony on what you know is true
It's one of the greatest tools that we have
Does anyone have anything else to add?
Sister Lucentas: Nope, what you guys said was great.
Sister Gryphex: So was your stuff, Sister.
Elder Garcia: Yeah, I can't wait to read what you two talked about
Sister Lucentas: Lol.
It's boring.
And filled with large vocabulary words.
Sister Gryphex: I don't think so. And I understood. Don't worry.
The bigger the words, the better!
smile
Elder Garcia: Boring is only a state of being where one doesn't care about what's going on
We're never bored during these meetings (at least I'm not)
(I can't be)
(Cause if I'm bored then our meeting would go downhill)
Sister Lucentas: Lol.
Well, I'm glad nobody thinks these meetings are boring.
Because I don't, either.
I really enjoy them.
Sister Gryphex: Same here.
Elder Garcia: So does the Spirit
So if there's nothing else, I guess I can close the meeting
Will everyone please join me in singing the club alma matter
Sister Lucentas: Um...
Sister Gryphex: The... what?
Elder Garcia: Come along and sing this song and join the jamboree
M-I-C
K-E-Y
M-O-U-S-E
Sister Gryphex: Oh boy.
smile
Sister Lucentas: Lol.
Elder Garcia: okay
I'm heading to Institute
Later all
Same time, Same email on Sunday
Spread the word
Later
Sister Lucentas: Will do.
See ya!
Sister Gryphex: Talk to you later.
Sister Lucentas: I've gotta go too.
Thanks for coming, guys.
Sister Gryphex: Right back at ya!
TTFN.
Ta-ta-for-now!
