As Abel Caldeira and other guild members seek to recruit new members into our fold, and as a number of existing members seem dissatisfied with the current selection of games, let us take stock.

What games would you be most interested in playing here, or better yet, what games might you be willing to run as a Storyteller? Please make a list, rated in terms of how much you want to be part of it. You can also give reasons or concerns for your choices.

Once we have a few lists from our members, we can (hopefully) decide on what new game will be made.

Also, in case anyone has missed them, Johnmcfloss is starting on a Freak Legion game, DaidojiKensuke is the ST of our Vampire: the Masquerade chronicle, and I am running a Demon: the Fallen story.

I'm far more familiar with the Old WoD, but I am also trying to learn the New WoD systems and setting. I don't understand it well enough to act as a Storyteller, though.

The following are games I'd most like to play in:
Inquisitor Dark Ages or the modern Vampire supplement
Hunter the Reckoning, or any of the mortal supplements for the other game-lines
Exalted Admittedly, I don't know how the system would play out online, but its system is a fusion of OWoD and NWoD, so it could be fun for both groups of players.
Mage: the Ascension

Games I'd be willing to play in:
NWoD Mortals I'm still learning the system, but would be happy to take part
Mage: the Awakening As above, I'm still learning, but feel confident
Changeling: the Dreaming I already have a character made up from Johnmcfloss' attempt to start a game

Games I'd be willing to act as Storyteller for:
Any of the ones I listed that I'd most like to play in, I would also be willing to ST for.

I hate being part of the problem. XD

OWoD werewolf has always been my primary interest, and I wish I had the time (and more to the point really, the skill) to set one up. I just don't.

I'd play changeling...and I apologize for never getting my sheet in. It's mostly done, I just need to find it and tweak her story a bit.

Exalted. This game is SO much fun.

I also have no idea how Exalted would work at web, but I do love the game.
I'd be also so very much interested in playing Dark Ages and werewolf too.

Old WoD is most close to my heart and I have not yet had a chance to get to know New WoD. So I stay out of those until I have familiarized myself with the system so that I won't cause any trouble. I hate to be millstone to others unless there is someone crazy enough to be willing to play mentor to new vamp for example. I'm quick learner after all.

And my apologies for the Changeling game, that seems to be a bit too unfamiliar for me and I have no one to clarify things in my native language. =/

I'm all over W:tA like white on rice.
I LOVE that game and will play!!

Sadly, I took a look at Monte Cook's World of Darkness (I assume that's what everyone keeps calling New WOD). I personally disliked what the Garou were turned into. I fell in love with werewolf because it made so much fricking sense. Monte's version is not so. To each their own.
PostPosted: Fri Apr 11, 2008 2:07 am

Actually, the New World of Darkness version of the Garou is in Werewolf: the Forsaken. The NWoD uses a modified Storyteller system, and is streamlined for crossover compatibility. Branching off the Core book are all the other NWoD game lines, including new Vampire, Mage, and Changeling games.

Monte Cook's WoD is a stand-alone D20 thing (I shall withhold my own judgements on the matter). I'm not certain that anyone in this guild has ever played Monte Cook's creation.

So, Brandi, is Werewolf all that you are interested in? It seems we can accomodate you, but I'm just curious.

Exalted, Inquisitor, and Hunter are at the top of my list, while Mage and Freak Legion are in close second. I am less enthusiastic about Werewolf, Wraith, and Changeling, though I do not despise them. As for rules, I am more familiar with OWoD though I understand the advantages of NWoD. Plus I'm a quick study.

Well, I'm willing to play just about anything, although I have most access to books and resourses for Vampire (both new and old) and I would have to say that vampire is my first love. I am very interested in Werewolf as well though - I'd just need to read up on it first. As to New versus old, I really don't mind - I'm pretty much equally familiar with both (although perhaps a little more with new) and I like the less apocolyptic feel of V:tR esspecially - instead of things ramping up for appocolypse, all you have to look forward to is an eternity of the same darkness. seems...darker stare

I'm also curious - I've never heard of Freak legion - what does it consist of exactly?

Freak Legion is the counterpart to old Werewolf (not sure about the new stuff). You play as an employee working for Pentex Corporation. It is a massive and evil organization that doesn't seem to have any clear goals but generally causes havoc, exterminates werewolves and other supernaturals, and attempts to increase its power. Most player characters are Fomori, which are humans infested by a demon-like entity that grants them powers. The cost is that the person is simultaneously tainted with various curses. The more powers you have, the more taints. So you might have a character who is twice the size of a normal man, could rip a car door off its hinges, has an extra set of retractable arms, and is laden with claws horns and fangs but he has a hostile talking head on his a** and is going to die in exactly 12 months. Not to mention the bomb implanted in the base of his skull that will be activated should he choose to defect.

What do these Fomori do?

They fill the ranks of Pentex's "First Teams". Basically they're shock troops and they are expected to fearlessly engage Werewolves, Demons, and whatever the hell else decides to get in their employers way. Of course, this is just one of the factors contributing to the Fomori's very low life expectancy.

Wow...sounds cool. I think I could be talked into to playing such a game... stare

Btw, out of curiosity, is there any sign of a V:tR game starting anytime soon. I'd do it myself, however I don't have the orginaization or patiecience for STing, so I'm just wondering if there is any sign of one in the works...

I'm afraid there is not at this moment. We do have the currently active V:tM game though, and it seems like Daidoji is always taking new members. There are so many that we could probably support a second game! It seems, however, that the next endeavor this guild is undergoing is to start a W:tA story. It has taken months though because of a series of unfortunate events (lost players, disagreement over play style, etc.) So, if you really want to play V:tR you might try posting to garner support in this thread, the Old and New WOD thread, and any other relevant place.

If you are interested in Freak Legion there is also a thread entitled "Freak Legion" in the main forum where people have been discussing the feasibility of starting a game and posting character concepts. I'm sure we can figure a way to get a .pdf version of the book to you.

Short answer: yes.

Long answer:
I've played loose-based Vampire and some really loose Hunter. Werewolf was the only thing I ever really found that I liked playing 'by the book' more than the others, and when I say 'Werewolf' it wasn't just the Garou I played. I played all kinds of shifters, and even Kinfolk.
Changeling made me cry it hurt my head so badly, and I never looked at Mage or Mummy. I've played with characters from WOD settings with free-forms before, and had a blast, and I've played the W:tA stuff to other WOD settings and again, had a blast.

Does that... help?

Oh yes, I was merely curious. As Abel Caldeira has mentioned, there was some recent talk of a Freak Legion game, and I wasn't sure if that might interest you, since it relies on the Werewolf setting and rules.

I play it all, can ST a lot of it and have not played very little. The one game I've wanted to play but never had a chance was Devil's Due, White Wolf's Dark Age companion for Demon: The Fallen. Buckets of coolness in that book, especially in why and how Demons interact with each other variety of supernatural (Vampires don't have souls to sell).

I enjoy Wraith but few people are capable of playing it successfully.

I love Exalted to death, first edition in particular (second edition Exalted, for its alleged improvement, reads very dry and boring to me). First Ed Exalted leaps out of the pages, grabs the book out of your hands, does a Fire and Stones Strike upside your head and demands you play immediately. Exalted demands coolness and over-the-top whacky kung fu antics.
