Kimaji yawned, blinking her eyes open. She was used to waking up like this by now, they'd been traveling together for long enough. "Hi Cor! " she said happily, though still looking a little groggy as she lifted her head. As usual, Cor was flying all over the place, and she was going with them. She'd forgot what the destination was this time, but they'd been to plenty places already. "Don't you get tired of flying around a lot? " The small lioness shifted slightly, pulling the wild dog pelt on her back more over her shoulders, afraid it was starting to slip.

Perhaps the only reason they even managed this system was the fact Kimaji was.. small. Very, very small. And it was even better now that Cor had managed to get bigger too! He was fluffy. Nice fluffy. They were used to it by now, too. Still, sometimes she couldn't help but wonder how he didn't get so tired carrying someone around!

"Its kinda cloudy.. "She commented, looking around. Very, very cloudy. she wasn't used to cloudy, not at all. "Thats odd, " To her, anyways.

Flight came easily for the druid god, carried aloft by large wings, soaring on currents with little effort. Of course, his companion's small size compared with his own towering height didn't hurt; it would have certainly been much more difficult to fly a lion closer to his own size. It was this that had allowed them to journey much farther than the lioness would have on own, to distant continent where there were creatures no other African lion had seen.

"No, I don't get tired."

A soft smile crossed his maw, echoed in his green eyes. Thinking back, he may have wondered how he'd managed to acquire such a companion. She was young and innocent, possessing a naivety he had come to cherish, growing accustomed to the questions she often asked. Now that he thought about it, it had just happened, it had been a casual meeting and the next thing he knew, he was flying her to Tibet. Not that he would have ever begrudged her company, in fact he would have found it entirely too quiet were she absent.

The god had noticed the clouds as well, his mane ruffling in the growing wind, feathers protesting the approaching storm. By the time Kimaji had commented, Corellon had lowered his wings in descent, limbs outstretched to meet the approaching earth.

A thunderstorm, they would have to seek shelter until it passed. Not because he objected to getting wet, but because he did not especially care for the idea of electrocution by lightning, and he was sure Kimaji would not either.

"We can take shelter in that cave."

"Everyone gets tired! Swaii had to sleep aaaaall the time. " He did. Though, the key difference was probably that Swaii was an oooold male. And Corellon was a god. She knew that, probably. But that was no fun to talk about, now was it? Of course not. She paused a bit once she realized they were going lower, was Cor landing just because of some clouds? That was odd.

"Shelter? From wha-- " she didn't even have time to properly finished the word before she saw a flash. no so much right infront of them or anything, but it was still a flash, and it was followed by thunder, naturally. Only, to her, this was very, very strange.

"Aah! "

Not to mention hella scary!

In a flash, Kimaji found herself clinging to Corellon's heasd, eyes wide in surprise, like a cub who's sibling had just jumped up behind it and shouted loudly. "Whatwasthat?! " She gaped, forgetting that maaaybe Corellon needed his head back.

It was fortunate that they had glided near the earth, perhaps even more so that Corellon was a skilled flier. He had not expected her reaction, unaware that she had never seen lightning, although the knowledge now did not surprise him. Unprepared, he staggered at the shift in weight, dropping suddenly for a brief moment before regaining his balance, watching the fast approaching earth through half-covered eyes.

"Kimaji, I can't see."

His voice was calm, the gentle tone of a patient teacher, though firm enough that she knew it was not a game. Paws touched the earth at the cave's edge, striding into the shelter without a break in his step.

They could not have reached the cave a moment too soon, the sky releasing its fury barely an instant after they had set paws within the shelter. Settling on his haunches at the mouth of the cave, Corellon looked out into the storm, lightning reflected in his green eyes as it was in the downpour of rain, sweet life falling from the clouds to nourish the earth beneath.

It was a beautiful, calming sight, though it seemed his companion would not have agreed. A reassuring smile, his voice soft.

"It is only rain, the life of the earth."

"Huh?.. did you go blind? " Kimaji blinked, finally seeming to realize what he meant. "Oh! Oh. Sorry! " She squeaked, making note to uncover his eyes and get back into her normal position, before leaping off as soon as he reached the ground himself, not wanting to risk doing that again.

Once in the cave, Kimaji also hadn't expected the rain, turning around quickly to watch the outside, ears perked in surprise. It was noisy! "R-rain? " She stammered, glancing to the god for a moment. "Whats rain? .. thats rain? " She gaped, tilting her head at the sight.

She'd never seen rain, born during the drought in the mistweaver lands. She'd only ever really heard about it because of Maji, prince of the pride at the time. She'd never really gotten a clear idea of how it looked. "What was that sound? " The lioness asked distractedly, taking a few careful steps in the direction of the entrance of the cave, stretching a paw outside cautiously, then leaping back as it got hit with water. the water was jumping all over the place! So odd.. the water she knew was still or just.. running. Not falling and jumpy!

The patient smile, the lion shook his head, a small chuckle escaping his maw. His suspicion confirmed, he simply remarked at her innocence, so much he had shown her, and yet so much more there was to learn.

"Mm-hmm, it is the source of all water, and thus all life on earth. Without it the forest would fade."

Such a simple thing it seemed, and yet so vital to life, to nature itself. Without the rains the land faltered, rivers, lakes, and even oceans dried, the vegetation became brittle, and life grew scarce. But with the rain there was life, the land was replenished, the forest was green and life thrived. And yet even in the harshest drought, life found a way, just as the fiercest storms brought destruction and rebirth.

"You could always think of it as melted snow."

An ironic choice of words, as he had once compared snow to melted rain.

"our forest was fading, then. " She frowned. She probably hadn't seen a nice, healthy forest untill she'd started traveling with the god. "It wfalls faster than snow, I think. " she commented, snififng about at the entrance of the cave again.

"So all water comes from rain.. " She pondered, looking at the sky. how did water stay floating up there to fall in the first place? Though, she wasn't gonna think about that now. She backed away, looking outside for a while before laying her ears back in determination. she would go outside... now! ... now. Noooow. Okay, lets try again. Now! Okay, this wasn't working. She'd just run outside and right back in! Taking a deep breath, like one would as if jumping into a lake, Kimaji let the wild dog pelt slide off her, in case rain was bad for it, then ran outside, skidding to a halt in confusion. She could breathe. But the rain felt like a thousand birds were pooping on her(not like she had much to compare to! ), and it was windy. Soon enough, Kimaji shot back into the cave, skidding to a halt and looking back, the moments she'd spent outside managing to have gotten her soaked.

"Its wet. And cold. And jumpy. " she gaped, tilting her head, not seeming to notice her wet fur. she'd felt all those droplets simply plop on to her out of thin air, and then bounce of the ground to tickle her ankles! "I've never seen rain before. I was born in the drought. Rain never came. " The prey had mostly left because of it, too. Some small groups had stayed because of how few predators remained as well.

She looked back at Cor. "Where does it come from? clouds? " Kimaji flicked her tail tip, still not seeming to notice she was starting to drip on their dry cave. "and what was the loud sound? "

The god sighed in mild exasperation, he might have facepawed were lions inclined to do as such. Running into the open of a thunderstorm was not the wisest action to take, it was one he would have stopped had he realized that was what Kimaji had intended. Enjoying an afternoon shower or even a downpour was one thing, but lightning and thunder were not something to tempt, especially on higher ground.

It was a sigh of relief that greeted the lioness' return to the cave, his large form shifting to cover the entrance in case she chose to wander into the storm again, or in the equally likely event that a more hostile animal sought to find shelter in the same den. A fitting precaution, Kimaji had often given in to her own curiosity rather than listening to his warnings.

"Of course it's wet, it is water, and now you're wet as well."

The smile had returned to his maw, ever the kind teacher, always willing to answer her questions though they never seemed to end. Eyes gazed into the storm again, the darkened sky illuminated in a flash of lightning, followed by a roll of nearby thunder.

"That is thunder, it follows the lightning, and it is from that that you should always seek shelter."

There was a firmness in those last words, perhaps to emphasize that she should not leave the shelter again until the storm had passed. He had not flown her across continents and mountain forests only to have her fall to a thunderstorm.

"It does, the clouds themselves are water as well, but in a different form."

She blinked at his statement, looking down at herself. D'oh! She took a few steps away from her friend, shaking herself.. half-dry, he fur now puffed out in all directions, spiky because of the half-hearted shake. Deciding she was cold now, Kimaji wriggled back under the wild dog pelt, before flopping next to Corellon-- on the side away from the entrance. Another plus thing of a big friend; wind shield!

"Lightning? Was that the.. flashy thing? " Good, she was putting one and one together this time! "Why? Does it hurt? " She twitched her tailtip, curling it around her hind paws as if to keep warmth from running away. Perhaps she shouldn't have gone out in a weather like this.

"Really? They don't look much like water. " Then again.. snow didn't either. "How does water change so much anyway? " Maybe it should change more back at "home"!

His head bowed in a nod, eyes fixed on the storm, watching the sky with wary interest. It was in such a storm that one could see the beauty and the fury of nature in one image. The rain was life, replenishing the land and rivers with it's precious gift, it ensured the herds survived and the predators lived to hunt. And yet it brought winds that tattered trees, ruined homes, and sparked fires that ignited the land. And yet in that rage there was new life, fallen trees allowed stronger ones to grow, fallen branches made for new homes, and fire enriched the land with vital nutrients.

"It can kill if it strikes you. But there is nothing to fear, so long as you take shelter."

He spoke matter of factly, like a teacher instructing his student. Frightening Kimaji was far from his intent, but it was important she knew the dangers of what surrounded her, and how to remain safe. For as long as he was at her side, he would allow no harm to come to her, and yet he could not watch her every moment, she had to live as all other creatures did.

"Water is a very special thing. It can change form and nature simply by the elements it's exposed to. In the sun, the oceans give rise to the clouds, and are in turn replenished as the land with the falling rain."

"That.. That flashy light can kill me? " She perked her ears in surprise, head tilted. "Wow.. " She pondered, looking at the wall for a while. So rain could be.. dangerous? Didn't sound good, nope. "Thats weird, " She shrugged, before perking her ears to listen to what he said about water.

"Oceaaan.. you mean that big salty water, right? " Just getting her waters checked-- the thing had far too many names! So.. Water could change form. It could be watery, then hard and cold, aand.. it could be clouds! And then it rained and it got watery again?.. this was starting to get maybe a little confusing, but thats fine.

"You know a lot! " she commented, smiling at the god. "So water changes. And it can be snow and ice and clouds. And.. water. Water is a lot of stuff. " She repeated, taking note of it all. "And lghtning kills and makes loud sounds! "

A silent nod, his expression kind as he looked to his young companion, an amused smile on his maw. It seemed the questions never stopped, always more she wanted to know, and though often the answers confused her, he was certain she understood more than she realized.

Yet that was how it should be, for nature was a beautiful and mysterious thing, full of as many questions as it held answers. Understanding did not always come easily, and yet the answers were always there, often hiding in the simplest place if one only took the time to look.

His posture relaxed, the god settled to lay against the stone floor, wings folded comfortably against his back. More than just a simple shower, the thunderstorm was not likely to pass so quickly, leaving them to their shelter for some hours at least. Dry and protected, the cave was as good a place to rest as any, may as well make themselves comfortable.

"We should rest here, it will be a while before the storm passes."

Kimaji blinked, tilting her head as the god settled down. "Really? It takes long? " She looked outside again, shaking her head at the breeze that managed to sneak in. He had a point; it didn't exactly look like something that'd just go away in a flash.

Sat down and leaned against one of the walls, pulling the wild dog pelt over her hind paws like some sort of blanket. "I like the sound. When its not thunder. " Kimaji probably wouldn't fall asleep so soon, rather intent on watching the rain, despite how.. boring it may seem. Maybe she'd see that lightning stuff again, too! And she'd slept on the trip, too. Like she usually did.

"So we just wait. " She said, more to herself than to Corellon. Okay, maybe trying to sleep wouldn't be so bad.
