None of that is true! I am French-Japanese so I look Caucasian, but I was only bullied once in my life, and it was only because I was the smallest in my class! I moved here when I was 2, and no one has ever picked on me for those reasons...

That person is lying about Hawaii... I have plenty of friends who are native Hawaiian. They're being really... mean.

It seems to me that this person has probably come in contact with a few (for lack of a better word) "bad" locals, and they have generalized and stereotyped Hawaiians.

Honestly, they're over-exagerating everything. "99% of haole's get beat up"? Seriously, WHERE did she get those statistics? And honestly, most of the murders and assault cases down here aren't haoles.

Not only that, but I've heard of "Kill Haole" day. My dad experienced it growing up on the Waianae side. He was half haole himself, but you know what? He told me he never got beat up. The ones who did get beat up were the snotty military kids who treated the local kids like the military kids were superior.

If this lady feels so strongly about how she and the haoles she know always get picked on no matter what, then she a) Doesn't know very many people, and b) she and her friends must act like total *bleep*s for the locals to hate them that much.

watching these gave me a huge amount of emotions. first i was really mad at how this person was making Hawaii seem like such a bad place. he/she cannot say that hawaii is such a terrible place because he/she knows maybe one person who is prejudice. but then again there is no where in the world that you can where there will be no prejudice. and you cannot say that a whole population is prejudice because of a few people.

prejudism is a matter that deal with a single person and their ignorance. then it made me feel sad that he/she was exposed to those in hawaii who are prejudice because we cannot pretend that there are no prejudice people in hawaii. but it is unfortunate that he/she came in contact with these before he/she was able to meet the people in hawaii who are truly good and who are not prejudice towards haole's.

it is also unfortunate that he/she felt the need to make these videos that cast such a bad light on the hawaiian islands. we do not want to be thought of as a prejudice people because we certainly are not. i really don't like that she made it seem like hawaii was such a God foresaken place by saying "God bless Hawaii and heal them of their sin"... or something to that affect. i am a christian and i am also native hawaiian. this person made it seem like the people in hawaii are all horrible and that they don't go to church and that they are all athiests. i do not believe that God would want one of his servants (like this person claims to be) preaching about God in such a negative way.

anywayz, these videos are very troubling to me and i just wanted to share my thoughts.

I'm going to type like I'm yelling AT the person in the video, because I'm a crazy person. Please excuse me.

What? Maybe they just hate you because of your snotty prejudiced attitude. And since when is haole spelled howlie, haolie, or any of the other stuff you said? And Hawaiian people get dirty looks from white people sometimes, idiot. There's too much prejudice for you just to circle in on one or two incidences. And my MOTHER, who is haole, not only managed to find her way through this supposed horrible racism, but has my Hawaiian paddling coaches talk to her about years past when she used to paddle. I hope that's twisted comedy, otherwise...

Ill throw my 2-cents in.
ok, that video IS bullsh*t.

you need, I go to kailua highschool which is where all the kids from waimanalo go, and the only people who are rougher than people from waimanalo are lets say
..like
wahiwa maybe..
but even then. NO ONE GETS BULLIED, you get a few here and there that are so frustrated that they WILL bully white kids just to take out thier anger. but never have I experienced that. usualy locals are very warm and kind, just have to know how to get to know them

It took me 5 posts to get this whole thing but this is what I said.

Haole doesn't mean outsider at all. It means that they don't breathe. When the Europeans came they got that name because they were white (when you die you turn pale) and that's why they thought they were basically arisen dead or gods. Also most of the bosses here are white people so technically whites still are being held above any other race even here (probably cause of all the tourists) and Mitchell Crim (pure haole) was one of the most respected people in our school. continued next comment
The people you're talking about probably came over here and thought they were all bad and that it's our privilege to have them here. I have no problem with any race but when you say that you're superior to me that's when I get pissed. There is no "Kill-Haole" day here. That was completely made up and I don't even wanna know where you came up with that. The KKK does exist here (not publicly of course)
So that proves that whites still think they're superior even if they live here. If anything it's you who is being racist with this vid. I'm jap 5th generation and I get along fine with haoles and haoles get along with anyone as long as they treat others with respect. And white haters in the churches? Kinda hard to believe when the bishop of my uncle's church is a white man and they don't preach against white hatred because they know it doesn't exist here.
And though it is true that some landlords won't loan out to white people it's because they only lend their property out to people of their culture. If you got a bunch of tenants that come from totally different cultures they'll be feuding all the time. And how are we the ones filled with hate when you are deliberately insulting us by making up s**t to slander our name? And if I were to hate hatred that would mean I would have to hate you and would therefore be contradicting itself.
There is only one fact in your entire presentation that is 100% true. It is not cheap to live here at all. I believe at the moment the cost of living is about 5 times that of the mainland. So it is a fact that if you wanna live here you need money but that goes for the people already living here as well. Don't you ever wonder why people are moving away from this place even if their family had been here for centuries? It''s for cheaper living in Japan or the mainland.

The person who made this video all ready had a preconception of what Hawaii was like. I mean, you watch movies about Hawaiʻi and the first idea you get is we are ignorant people, who live on the beach counting sand. Automatically "we" are assumed as heathens and savages who go around looking for a fight. Second, for the accent, hell, I have a hard time understanding southern twang.
People who come to Hawaii have to understand that we are just like any other place. For example, when I went to Washington state to visit a cousin of mine, she lived in what I would term "redneck country". At a gas station, a cashier looked at me as though I was going to rob the place and almost refused service. But because I smiled at her and wasnʻt going to hurt her, I got my gas and left. Up there, the entire time all "the white folks" stop and stared at me. At first I thought it was funny, after awhile though, it became irritating. The funniest thing was, my cousin has more Hawaiian blood than I, but is much fairer. They didnʻt know me, but they felt it was okay to be rude.
Hawaiʻi is a special for all of us who call this place home. It doesnʻt matter what you look like, all that matters is that you respect one another.

That sounds gay. But the kinda same thing happened to me when I went to disneyland. I was standing in line then this Mexican lady came up and stood next to me and they served her first even though I was standing there for about 2 minutes before her. Then when she was done and she left and I was the only one in line the lady at the front said "Well I'm going on my break now." And then she left and the supervisor went in the back to do something and then she came back like 5 minutes later and asked if I needed help with something. I told her I lost something and before I could explain that I left it back only like 10 minutes ago she goes back to the lost&found and takes another 2 minutes looking through it and comes back to say that it's not there. Then I explain that I only lost it like 10 minutes ago and she looks at me like I'm an idiot! How messed up is that?
