Is where I'm heading. I've decided I need to sculpt my insanity and that I'm not doing anything else the next couple of years, so why not get paid for it?
I don't know if this is a good idea or not, but the reward outweighs the risk- I lose weight, get a lot of money, travel the world, and get free school. I hope I can get some support from you guys, because I'm going to need it.

My parents were in the Navy- there's really not as much risk involved as many people think. The Navy almost never sees battle- it's the technological branch of the military. They're the ones with the weapons research, technological advancements, and whatnot. Hell, the two petty officers that came and spoke to the class about the Navy had beer bellies XDDD
Now, don't get me wrong, they will train you and what not, but not nearly as much as you might think. It's mostly 'How skilled are you, and is it enough to work 'x' amount of technology without screwing up.' At least, that's how people have explained it to me.
Good luck though, man, either way. We're behind ya. ^__^

I wasn't speaking so much about YOUR risk, just about the risk people associate with the military in general xD
Also, another fun fact- the guys that came to speak to us, middle-ranked officers mind you, had never stepped foot on a Navy sea vessel!
