Ok, so my conlang is brand new. I'm still deciding how I want sentence structure, and other grammar rules to be. I'm beggining to start with developing vocabulary, but I have know idea what to do! Every time I go to make a verb, I check to see if it makes sense to me, but then I verify it with English, which in turn muddles my brain because English is so irregular! I am completely at a loss of how to make up vocabulay, let alone making it functional.
How do you make vocab, or more specifically, verbs, and how do you make sure it will work? Or do you just go with it and see if it even will work?
As you can tell, I'm new at this and at a bit of a loss. Any advice/suggestions would be much appreciated! Thanks.

Well, I usually just make up a bunch of stuff + regular conjugations(I loathe irregulars... xD) and see what happens. =)
Are you having a specific problem to deal with, or is it just that you need an approach? =)

I just wanted an approach or to see how other people approach it. I just feel like if I jus make something up it soundslike gibberish, but I suppose that is any language before you learn it. I think my mindset is narrowly set to the limitations of English. I feel like I ned to make sure every litle thing would make sense to English grammar, dspite me knowing tha it doesn't have to. But thanks for responding, I'll give it a shot.

BUT GIBBERISH PAWNS ALL!
Seriously. Most of my best words were gibberish at first. Take 'pufu-pufu'. It just sounded nifty. And then I made it the word for 'cloud'. xD
I really just come up with a neat-sounding something for my first word, then base absolutely everything off of that one single goofy bunch of random syllables. That way, I'm still basing my stuff off of something, but it doesn't necessarily have the set-backs of English grammar. =)
