Akira is an orphan who comes from the Valley Buried in the Snow, his father died when he was 1-ish and his mother when he was 6. His mother gave him a slightly-feminine influence and so he does not treat women inapropriately.
Akira went to the NInja Academy since he was 6 1/2 years old; he thought that his parents died, and so to honour them he would not waste his life.
There is no real story to his parents died, except that his trainer has something to do with it (she didn't kill them, it was just someone they knew).
