Personality- Max is, essentially, the 'classic' gentleman adventurer type featured extensively in pulp novels and magazines through the earlier half of the 20th century. He is educated, direct, and an honest to goodness action hero. Although his constant adventuring in the early 1920s has managed to transport both him and his aeroplane into this current time frame, he has proven to be immensely adaptable, easily settling in with the technology and setting of this day and age. Although his actions and manners of speech seem to be almost laughably stereotypical and old-fashioned, he is an honest man with a big heart. Not to mention his boundless love for exploration and adventure. Things certainly are never boring around him. however, while brilliant in terms of technological devices and... adventure-y stuff, he's generally not that smart. One too many blows to the head, most like.
Background- Born in 1901 to a wealthy oil merchant in Texas, Max grew up with the expected 'high-class' lifestyle for boys in his day and age. As an only child, he was well-educated, and frequently moved between his family's estates both in Texas and England. He was originally planned to attend university, but when World War I erupted, Max went straight for the recruitment line and managed to work (read: lie about his age and credentials) his way into the newly-formed Royal Air Force.
He did well in the war, becoming an ace pilot and, perhaps more importantly for him, formed a deep friendship with several of the famous adventurers of the time. After the war concluded, Max was given numerous oppourtunities to try his hand in adventuring, in which he excelled. In the years where he was adventuring, Max managed have many successful expeditions across both Africa and South America, the likes of which can create volumes of exciting tales about cults, mystic items, poachers, villainy, and even invaders from the Moon on two occasions.
However, while on a dangerous trip in Africa to collect a supposedly mystic artifact for the British Museum in 1924, Max had... quite the interesting surprise. The mystic artifact was indeed imbued with magic, and while attempting to escape the angry natives, he somehow activated the item and managed to jump almost 90 years into the future... and in Gaia no less. Shocking, but Max has managed to adapt reasonably well. His adventuring days are now over, and he is currently using his old plane to earn a living as a stunt pilot.
