Tukutu was pissed. Why? It was raining. It didn't rain too often in the Graveyard, but whenever it did, the lands got really gross. With a lack of real plants and the ground usually covered with a grey-coloured dust, it was hard to tell just how muddy the hyena was, as it blended in with his coat so well.

"Cursed Alpha," he thought. "She can go inside her skull and keep dry, but there's the rest of us that have to keep watch just in case those stupid lions that she hates so much invade." He highly doubted that they would, as he hadn't seen very many in the past few months. Maybe a good thing, but if Mafa ran out of an area to fuel her anger, he was sure that it would turn to him. It always seemed to, didn't it?

He sat next to a busted skull, huddled next to the side of it so at least part of him wasn't soaked to the skin. He watched the lands that were outside of their borders. Sentry watch was boring, no wonder he usually made others do it.

Ahsante also wasn't happy but then again that was no different to any other day. Most days he would sit sulking wondering whether life was even worth living. He was a strange thing, moaning about his life but yet wanting nothing more then what he had. Oh how life was very strange.

Today however it was indeed raining and so he was soaked. His fur was sticking to his body like glue and it was the worse feeling in the world. There was nothing worse then fur sticking to you, nothing! Ahsante should have been watching out for lions as well but instead he was trying to find some sort of shelter, grumbling as he walked about the Alpha and females in general. He really found the whole female gender to be somewhat annoying and really not worth the time.

He had stopped talking, only for a brief moment when he saw another hyena. He wondered for less then a second whether the other male had heard anything he had mumbled about but then shrugged it off. In the end Ahsante wasn't that bothered if anyone had heard his ramblings, he would just blame it on the rain putting him in a bad mood.

He didn't say anything to the other hyena, in his normal fashion he tried to avoid conversation with anything living. He had very good one way conversations with plants and bones but conversations with talking creatures always needed someone else to participate and he was incredibly unsocial. He hoped for now though that he wouldn't have been seen, after all he was suppose to be on sentry duty in a completely different part of the packs lands.

Tukutu's ears picked up on the sounds of another. It couldn't be relief, since it was too soon for someone else to take up his post. So who was it? He pulled his eyes away from his duty, peering through the dark to see that indeed, it was another hyena. He didn't have any symapthy for any of the hyenas that he was 'in charge' of. He just never took the time to care about any of them. Hell, he didn't even care that much about his son. Of course, he was a bumbling idiot, so it was no wonder that he wasn't kind to him.

"Hey, you!" he called out to the other, wondering what he was doing out here. It wasn't a good time to hunt, but maybe he was trying to get some food? Food....Tukutu was hungry. But he was always hungry, so that was no surprise. He tried to steer his mind back to the duty at hand, as well as his curiosity of the other hyena. Must be a packmate, or he wouldn't be out here in the rain, right?

Ahsante stopped in his tracks. Damn it. He turned around trying to avoid any eye contact with the other male. He didn't say anything after all it wasn't like the other male asked him anything to begin with so there was no reason to talk. Ahsante did recognise the other male but he didn't know why. He couldn't recall ever meeting the male, maybe he was making it up. It was quite likely.

He slowly decided avoiding contact with the male would create suspicion and so he turned to face the male and looked straight at him. Not in a dominating way, his body language was rather submissive so to avoid much of a conflict.

"Hello."

He spoke in the end, after all he wanted to know why he recognised him or whether he was just making it all up in his head.

Pleased, the spotted hyena motioned the other to get just a bit closer to him. Whe was he so far off when the rain made it just a bit hard to hear? Crazy, dumb rats. He shook himself and moved away from his beloved skull, letting the other part of him get wet. Next time it was raining, he was going to refuse doing this duty.

"What're ya doin' 'ere?" he asked, curious. He shook his rump and tail a bit, brushing off water from his coat. While it wasn't raining as heavily as it had been earlier, he still wasn't going to be dry for at least a week! His coat was so soaked through. "Ya on sum kinna duty tha' Mafa putcha on?" It was always Mafa, making everyone miserable, wasn't it? Seemed like she thrived on that fact. Stupid females.

Ahsante was glad that the male didn't seem to be in any way threatening and so he moved a little closer. After all sometimes it wasn't that bad an idea to talk was it? At least he was male and not some stupid female.

"Finding somewhere dry." That was his reply, as for the second question he didn't really want to say and admit he had wandered from his position but then again at the same time, punishment he could deal with, the rain, he couldn't.

"I was suppose to be on sentry duty, there is no one around though and I was getting wet. Lions seem to have some sense, there aint any out there." He was telling the truth, he also hadn't seen lions around these parts for a while. Mafa must be paranoid.

Tukutu could understand. Dry was something that was going to be difficult to find when most of the other members were probably curled up in the skulls that would provide some sort of shelter. "Aye, ah dry place ta be would be great, whudinnit?" He seriously felt like a drowned rat.

Maybe he sould start calling himself a rat than the members that followed around Mafa. He still couldn't believe just how large the pack had grown since they started it together a while ago. It was good, sure, but they really didn't have much to do with the lion's numbers shrinking in that 'pride' they had set up for themselves just outside of their lands.

"Ah dun blame ya," he said with a shrug, water dripping off of his nose. "Ah've 'erd of lion's bein' sneaky, but it's just too damn wet ta do anythin' 'round here." He sneezed, since a bit of water had creeped into his nose. "If'n ya do abandon yer post, jus' make sure Mafa dun 'ear. She'll bite yer ear off ah'm sure of it."

Ahsante nodded at him they were both soaking wet but this male had at least stuck to his post.

"I am sure she would but I can survive without an ear the pain would only be temporary, this rain might last for days or weeks and that is worse, at least it is at the moment." He wasn't going to pretend that he wasn't scared of Mafa but he avoided her and so he wasn't really bothered much by her. In fact the only time he had ever spoken to her was when he had asked to join the pack and that was a very long time ago.

Tukutu was surprised. Oh? He didn't seem that intimidated by the female. That was very different from what he normally came across. She was mean, that was true. He was just about the only one that knew what she was like when she was younger, though, so he knew that half of it was true, though half of it just had to be an act. Life was hard, sure, but you didn't need to get that crazy! Tukutu was pretty lazy, though, so he let a lot of things slip by him with little more reaction than a blink.

"Relleh? "Freshin' ta hear. She's not that bad, jus' gotta stick up fer yerself 'n you'll be fine. Jus' do what she asks 'n ya'll keep outta trouble. Trust me, 've known her for a while. She's easy ta get around if ya know where to place yer paws, if'n ya follow meh." He winked at the other with a mild grin. It was fun, plotting against Mafa, but in a harmless way. The most she'd do is get frusterated and yell at him. No big deal.

Ahsante was starting to like this other hyena, this was a rare thing indeed. He nodded in agreement. He let out a small laugh as well.

"It seems you know all the way around her then. Whats your name anyway?" Names are always a good thing and Ahsante was sure he hadn't heard the males name mentioned, or if he did he had completely ignored it. Something that was indeed very much possible!

He wondered though just how well this male knew Mafa. He would have known if he knew that this male sired her first son but this was information he did not know. Even the males name would not bring any recognition for Ahsante had never been told the fathers name, he was sure in female fashion they wanted all glory for the child even if he was a rather slow and stupid one.

"Eh? Name's Tukutu," she said, shaking his head to brush off more water away from his face and mane. "Ah've known Mafa since we were jus' little pups. Dun tell 'er, though, she might jus' freak out a little bit." He laugh, just trying to picture her face if she ever found out that he told anything deep about her to anyone else. He knew a lot, but most of it he'd never share. It wasn't his style.

He shrugged. "But yah, she's not too hard ta read if'n ya just keep yer wits 'bout ya. 'Sides, she's usually too busy with alla the other members to worry about one slackin' a bit." The pack was pretty big, actually. He assumed Mafa would only want it bigger, but hopefully she wouldn't get too antsy about them having nothing to do. He didn't mind, the lazy fool he was, but he didn't want to deal with her talkin his ear off when she was bored.

Ahsante nodded while awknowledging his name. However the information he then got from the male was interesting and something he would keep to himself. You never know when something might come in handy after all do you?

He nodded as he listened a little more about Mafa. "She sounds interesting then, much more then I would have originally thought." He chuckled a little. "Well I haven't been caught slacking yet and I seem to be far too good at it. i get bored patrolling when there is no reason for it. It's so stupid it really is!" He chuckled again feeling rather proud about himself. Slacking - his number 1 talent"

Tukutu nodded. "Jus' look like yer busy 'n yer good." He liked this hyena, if only because he had a similar mindset as the spotted hyena. Slacking was fine, as long as you had a place to sleep, water to drink, and food to fill your stomache. Worrying about anything else seemed like a waste of energy. He only kept up with it for Mafa because he told her he would. So here he was, drowning in the rain.

"Y'know, I think I'mna take up yer way of thinkin' fer now. Wanna try ta find somewhere dry to take a break? 's long as we're out here by the border we should be fine. Whatcha think?" It was damn near time to get out of this rain. Rain was never good in the graveyard, it didn't bring anything but misery (ironically).

Ahsante nodded in complete agreement. He was rather tempted by the males offer as well but he knew it was roughly the time that if Mafa did check his are, she would be soon. She didn't often but he knew it would be his luck for the one time he wasn't at his post for her to check or get someone else to.

"Nah I love the offer but better head closer to my post just in case. You never know with her what she is going to do!" He looked up at the sky, stupid rain.

"I shall have to catch you about though. It was interesting talking to you. At least someone here has some brains!" He chuckled as he turned to leave. "See ya!" He then moved off. He had to get back to his post just in case. He didn't really want his ear ripped off.
