Agh! My eyes, they burn! scream I wandered away from the ATG just to check a line art thread in the main forums because I sometimes submit my lines for coloring. I just wanted to see the updates. It turns out some awful person posted some really violent gory sexual photos (blood and bruises, but clearly fake), stretched the page, and didn't even contribute any line art. Not that I think any one would really want to see it at that point. So I did my Gaian duty and reported the post, but was so shocked that my message was a total failure at expressing how I really felt about that post. Quote: This is highly offensive and sexual in nature and not at all appropriate for images on this site, especially considering there are minors on this site. Well, at least I gave it to them straight. Has anyone else encountered such posts in the main forums before? So far this has been the first that I have seen, but I don't go to the main forums often. Do people really abuse the main forums? I'm afraid to go in the GD after this. Discuss: Violations of the ToS Do you act on violations, or ignore them? Why do people go out of their way to violate the ToS? Edit: Was not sure if this should go here or in the IDD. If it needs to be moved, please do so.

Well, I have to say that the last time I saw such a violation of the TOS was also in the GD - some 4chaners were posting incredibly inappropriate pictures. From what I've heard, the GD is becoming a hell-hole of TOS violations. *shrug* I avoid it.
If I see the violation in the GD, I ignore it. If I had to report them all, I'd be there for an hour. But if the violation is somewhere else, I report it.
Personally, I think people violate the TOS because of the immature thrill it brings - that "Ha ha! I'm blatantly disobeying you and you can't stop me!" feeling. I don't really try to understand why .....

I'm not sure if [insert number/whatever]chan people are still upset about those Longcat, etc. items...but that sounds like they're still at it... What I would do about those things? Nothing...I just look after the ATG, that's all...and since I'm impervious to shock images (so far, anyway razz ) well...not my problem...
Why people go out of their way to violate the ToS? My guesses are: Trolling and/or being morons/attentionwhores...stuff like that... Well...can't say that I blame them...it's so much fun to pick on the name- and faceless masses...and if it's still about those "stolen" items...well... Gaia really showed some balls/stupidity to mess with the chans in such a way... Oh well...not my problem...

Kals is questing again!once something becomes embedded into popular culture, it's fair game for parody, if you ask me. Longcat is not the intellectual property of anyone, as far as I know, and Gaia breaks nothing by cashing in on an internet meme.
I report TOS violations if they are blatant and damaging to hapless Gaians who might come along and find them. For instance, the other day I found a guy who posted something like "Check out this preview for the new Gaia 3.0 tht is going to be released, it's really cool, lolol!" with a link to a fake page that looked exactly like Gaia's homepage, complete with sign-in fields.... you're not getting my password that easily, buddy. Obviously I'm not the only one who reported that one, it was deleted by the time I was done filling out the form and returned to the page. Check sig for details!

Eh, I've seen a lot of weird stuff in the main forums. . . The GCD and A/M/C got it hard with a bunch of yaoi porn once, if I remember right. . . And then there was a bunch of baby animal spam in the GCD before that. . .
Anyway, I dunno why people like to break the rules. I'd like it just for the joy of tormenting other people, but that's me.

ED-P is full of trolls and idiots that might as well be trolls. Harder to report.
For instance, we have a guy there now who doesn't think MLK Jr deserves a holiday because "he challenged the status quo" and he doesn't think we should give holidays to people just because they challenged the status quo.

I post in the Lost thread from time to time and twice now apparently someone's posted pictures that sound very similar to what you described. They had always been deleted by the time I clicked on the thread so I don't know what they were, but people had responded to the post.
I guess there's just some trolls about all over the place.

Kalstolyn Kals is questing again!Well he has a point. Check sig for details! Well, MLK Jr was the United States equivalent to Ghandi in that he was the driving force in a nonviolent social revolution that drastically changed the United States.

Eh, it doesn't really matter what he did. The US will make a holiday for almost any reason. The gift card companies and advertising agencies love it!
But what does it have to do with ToS violations?

Ah, yes. Trolling is a big issue. I pretty much ignore trollers unless they get really nasty. But I generally haven't had any problems with trollers.

TOS violations, in ED-P at least, would be less problematic if the mods and helpers there have their priorities straight. We've had problems with people getting posts deleted for sarcasm and having posts deleted for spam even though they shouldn't be. Meanwhile we have threads in ED-P full of spammers, people who post threads that have nothing to do with politics and flat out trolling, harassment and race baiting that goes unchecked. I know a great deal of the mods and helpers but the new ones don't even post in ED-P so I have no chance of getting to know them. Makes me wish for the crew we had years ago.

I wasn't talking about you; you aren't active enough for me to care about. I've been a reg there for years now and I've kept track of a lot of people. We've had two people that have gone through at least 6 different accounts after repeatedly banned, a person who advocates killing off all the poor people because he hates poor people, people who repeatedly bash non-eurocentric cultures as uncivilized and barbaric, and neo-nazis that don't even try to hide their hatred for all non-white people.
Compared to those people you're a small fry.
