It is a good idea. My hubby is planning a trip to Paraguay with his dad for two. He's commented several times that he wishes I'd come.. But due to finances, and my job restrictions, I'm encouraging him to have fun with his dad, since he lives several states away.. But I do encourage time apart, be it a couple hours, or several days. As individuals, you need time with your friends.

It always depends on your life at the time, but I like spending time apart sometimes. Sure, I miss my husband, but I like a) be able to do whatever I want with the house, if I'm home and he's gone or b) going out and feeling "single" every once in a while. And it brings us closer together when we're finally back together. Your husband should understand if you want to go visit your best friend.

I would say that time by yourselves to go out if fine. Mal goes and visits his family without me and it's ok, because I have other friends to have fun with while he's gone. I also understand that there's times that it's not all about the fact he's in a relationship but about being with someone else (in a connecting with friends or family way.) Sometimes, you just want to go and hang out with people, not as a couple, but just by yourself with some friends; and that's ok and normal.

There's nothing wrong with time apart. But PLEASE make sure you have a charged cell phone (get a prepaid for cheap if you don't have a phone), have the car tuned up and have a great time! I'm allowed to worry ... I'm old!

I think its good to have time away from each other.
I wish we were able to do that. My grandma lives about four hours away so it isn't easy to get away for the weekend to leave Sarah at home by herself.
Hopefully your husband will understand, it is your best friend. I agree with Snorkleberry, it does bring us closer together when we're back together.

Yeah, it's always good to spend time apart. Y'know, do your own thing. Me and my guy don't like spending a lot of time apart, so if one of us is away, it's usually for no longer than a day.

I don't mind at all. Ever since I started dating my husband, there's been plenty of times when he's gone for a week visiting his family. And when we moved to NY, he's gone on a few business trips, but he's always wonderful about keeping in touch with me either by email, chat, phone even work webcams.
I've been a loner for a long time and while I love being with my husband, I can manage being away from him. Unlike my mom and sister who are afraid of being home alone. There's only been one instance where I had a hard time with him being away, but other things were going on that made it crappy.
And welcome back hugs and kisses are the best!!
