If I'm not mistaken, Shahid and Kareena broke up during the filming of Jab We Met or maybe after. I'm not sure who's fault it was, but during the making of Tashan, that's when Kareena and Saifu fell in love.

Personally, I don't see it working too long for Kareena and Saif. I thought Kareena and Shahid were going to stay together for a lot longer time.

There are a few rumors going around. One is that Shaid supposedly wanted to be with Vidya Balan and so he dumped Kareena and in the process Saif conforted her through the break up and they got together, that Kareena dumped Shaid (which seems kind of like the lesser of them all since Shaid seems fine with the break up and Saif made it seem more like Kareena was the devasted one), and the last one is tehy just both decided to see other people and broke on good terms.
