so I've been interested in Lolita for a while now but I'm a guy who is a little heavy set (i have lost a lot of weight) and i was wondering if you all could give me any pointers to any of the boy counterparts to Lolita.
here are some of the things I'm interested in:
1) Making an outfit on a budget 2) the different styles of male Lolita 3) any other helpful advice for me and 4) any shops that sell Loli or boy stile cloths

Yea, I say take a look at those sites and guides posted above, and pick out things out like. Being heavyset dosn't matter, except for maybe finding clothes in a particular style is sometimes hard, but then again its sometimes hard for me too, and I'm skiny.
Not sure about stores, as I live in japan and it's much different. Maybe check out shops that sell mens buisness suits. Sometimes you can find a more vintage looking piece.
Also, thrift shops. I buy from them lots here, very helpful sometimes.
As for style. My favorites are like a victorian buisness suit, with added touches like an ascot, gloves, top hat, ect.
I also like knee pants, and then stockings. For top, maybe a mesculine blouse-type and a vest. Add in basic accessories (top hat, gloves, ect) and there is a basic outfit.
Of course, make it your own style otherwise fashion is useless (in my opinion) if you see something you like, try it.

-...quand le soleil sera couché dans ton âme froide.- Thanks, I love that blouse too. Got it at a thrift shop in Tokyo razz And no, but I am familiar with it. I have been thinking of getting one, to start writing about fashion and music news, considering I want to be a journalist, but not entirly sure...

I second what Yuki-Neko said about stores which sell mens business suits. A friend of mine got a really nice vest at one of those places, although it cost him a pretty penny. The thrift store sugestion is also great, especially for getting things on a budget. I've found vests and blouses in opshops ranging from $4 to $8. You have to be lucky and really search through everything though. Over in the steamfashion community there was a post about changing the collar of a boring shirt without sewing. You might find it interesting, so here it is: http://community.livejournal.com/steamfashion/366576.html

You find the cutest things in there. D:> American 99c stores are horrible. You should, though sometimes EGL can get as wanky as the 2ch lolita groups. But there are some posts and discussions worth commenting on in there.
