Gun. What a generic title. Gun. Gee... i wonder if it is a western? *Looks at case* Yep! It's a western! It's got guns and horses!
...
If you're wasted enough to come up with a title as stupid as "Gun," then you shouldn't be allowed to make games. But anyway... here's the review.
Plot: Er... yeah. It has a bit of a strange twist to it at first. But then it turns out to be your generic western. Fight off the savage Indians, love interest with a hooker who has a heart of gold and a lethal aim, and guns and booze. Damn straight! But then it takes a bit of a unique twist to it! *Gasps*
...
It doesn't hold a candle to any of the decent westerns. "Unforgiven" is a lot better. Mostly you have greed and corruption... and... yeah. It has nothing really unique to it.
Gameplay: Does it make up for the half-assed plot? SORT OF!! YES! SORT OF! The gunplay is pretty impressive, but a lot of it seems familiar. Hold on... that style of horse control was in Legend of Zelda... and the shooting style was in True Crime. The gameplay is FUN! But not unique. The melee system needs some improvement. And then someone on the programming team needs to be searched for drugs. Why? The scalping system. WHAT IS THE POINT?! You spend $25 on a knife when you start the game with one and scalp a downed opponent when it is so much easier to shoot him. Or you could've sliced his throat to make it fast. Instead, you have SCALPING! You get nothing for it. All you get is some cheap blood and obnoxious shouts. You get no money or accomplishments. WHO THE HELL DOES THAT?! Sick wackos. Of course, there is also a very strange thing about bald men shouting "NOT MY TOPKNOT" while you are scalping them. Can someone please explain that to me?
Graphics: Generic. There is a low variety of sprites and weapons. Also, with how sophisticated other games have been with using the sights on your gun to aim, this game should have considered an option like that instead of having to depend on crosshairs. Especially since those crosshairs aren't very accurate for long distance shots.
Music: A joke. I think there's a total of... 3 sound loops. All three are generic. The music that plays in cutscenes is cheap. Also... a lot of the voice acting is HORRIBLE! The acting in most of it is horrible. And there are several errors about the tmieline. Good luck guessing how old your protagonist is.
Difficulty: In the easy mode, you can take bullets like a tank and can mow down entire swarms. In the extreme difficulty, the enemies can take bullets like tanks and mow down entire swarms. It is either too easy or exaggerated. The lack of a radar and poor graphics makes it a little difficult to spot enemies at times, making it very frustrating.
Overall: Is it groundbreaking? Is it a wonderful game? NO!!!!!!!!!!! It is a poorly made game! But still fun. It is worth renting if you know a cheap enough place. Worth buying? No. It's not worth it. In the end, the only thing this game is good for is a few hours of carnage, and then gathering dust. Rent only.
