Here you can tell about fighting arts you feel should be added to the DOA series. Personally I would like to see Pancration added to this, here is a brief description of Pancration, as well history, old and new pictures as well as current fighters who practice it. Pankration is an archaic Greek word that means "total strength" and refers to a combat sport of the ancient Olympiad which was essentially an all-out fight between two contestants. Pankration allowed bare-knuckle boxing, kicking, wrestling, jointlocks, throws, and strangleholds, prohibiting only two tactics: biting and gouging out the opponent's eyes. Here is some old art that shows old school pancrationists doing their thing, WARNING: CONTAINS MALE NUDITY Here is an old excerpt from a Greek writer who describes a ground fight or "clinch" between two pancrationists Dionysiaca XXXVII 594-609 by Nonnos And having thrown the man completely spread out in the dust Aikos got on the middle of the opponent's back And sending his outstretched feet along under the spread out stomach, Binding together a bent bond around just above the knees, He pressed sole on sole and encircled the ankles to their outermost tips; And having quickly stretched himself over his opponent's back, And winding his hand over each other like a wreath, He cast a bond on the neck with his arm, having bent his fingers; He drenched the heaped up sand with soaking wet sweat, Cleaning off the running drops with dry sand, So that the entwined man might not slip through the knot of his hands While sending hot moisture down from his squeezed neck. And while he was being squeezed by the sharp palm The heralds chosen as overseers of the games wandered over, So that the forearm with the yoked-together lifting-strap would not kill him. For there was not at that time such a rule, which their descendants made later on, that when a man is overwhelmed by th strangled pain of necks being stretched by bonds he gives over the victory to his wrestling opponent with sensible silence, having tapped the winning man with a shameful hand. Here are some current pancrationists MATT "The Wizard" HUME 5'10" 175 pounds Extreme fighting and submission wrestling World champion. North American Kickboxing champion Trevor Jackson I couldn't get the names of these women, but they look tough! And here we see victory for the pancrationist. More updates will be shown!

Four Character already use Ninjutsu. I think that four ninja out of a cast of 20 (DoA3) is enough. Anyway, I have some new ideas... HapkidoA Korean art meaning "the way of coordinating energy". Wikipedia.com On the "hard-soft" scale of martial arts, Hapkido stands somewhere in the middle, employing "soft" techniques similar to Aikido and "hard" techniques reminiscent of Taekwondo. Even the "hard" techniques, though, emphasise circular rather than linear movements. Hapkido is an eclectic martial art, and different hapkido schools emphasise different techniques. Tae Kwon DoAnother Korean art, meaning "the way of the hand and foot." Wikipedia.com Although there are great doctrinal and technical differences among Taekwondo styles, the art in general is sometimes criticized for its emphasis on high kicks, which may be impractical against moving and defensive opponents. Taekwondo's proponents consider its emphasis on high, far-reaching kicks with a small, mobile stance to be an advantage in martial arts combat.

DOA has kept a fine balance between all the styles and some of these seem very interesting. Although I think one thing Tecmo wants to avoid doing is copying a type of character from other games. Tekken has (Son-chan help me...it's the brazilian girl who wore that green shirt). I think someone already mentioned that style but then you want the person using the style to be a antive of the region and you would ultimately wind up with an unused character or a rip-off. The most likely thing they will do is make up new styles for some of the characters 3nodding But although every-one doesn't know it, they can use one of the 5 basic styles of kung-fu in it. Each style was based off of an animal and an element. Actually, there's a legend telling how the styles came to be. These 5 are the root styles to all others. But although Gen-fu alreayd uses a variation of one of them, as does Christie.

Gen Fu uses Tiger (I think) and Christie uses Snake. There *are* variations, such as Panther, Leopard, and Eagle Claw. 3nodding
Oh, you're thinking of Christie Montiero. She basically is a copy of Eddy Gordo, but was also taught by Eddy.

Actually, ALL styles of martial arts branch out from the original 5 kung-fu styles. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think them to be... Tiger, Snake, Heron, Mantis, and Dragon.

They should add someone who does capoeira or Tae Kwon Do. Other than that, they should just expand on a few styles that they already have. They should break up Hitomi's Ein clone style and make her use Okinawan Karate or maybe Goju Ryu. Zack should use some more... um... "Traditional" Muay Thai moves. As it stands, I dont think he uses Muay Thai. He just does kick boxing. Brad Wong should add some Drunken Monkey to his Zuijiuquan.

I second the Capoeira! But doesn't Lisa do some? And whatever Xiaoyu does in Tekken I love her Phoenix stance.
