Mmm, did he have everything? Milk, bread, chicken, juice, a half dozen fruits, even more vegetables...

It was Tuesday, the usual day in which Anvion made a run out to the store to get the cart of goods needed for the week. However, today Iyachtu, the youngest, had been caught in the garden, covered in more mud than a child his size should have. While Anvion had been scrubbing the angry little cyborg clean, Flitch had offered o do today's shopping trip. It wasn't like he had anything else to do.

It was a little more crowded than he thought he would be, and hence the blue-haired sin went about the duties as quickly as possible. It looked like he had everything, but... Oh! Ice cream! It hadn't been on the list, but he thought it'd be fun to get a little thing of ice cream for all the little brothers. Why not? He had enough on him...

Pushing the heavily-laden cart to the frozen aisle, he paused to critically gaze over the rows of ice cream. Hmm. Not being fond of sweet things, this made things a little difficult. They liked vanilla, right? Or was it strawberry?

Vanilla, Strawberry, Chocolate -- Napoleon! It didn't matter. It was nice and comfy, standing right here with his hands up high above his head and his cheeks squished against the glass. Cold.Ness.

It was just a toddler and the glass. Apparently he'd managed to make a run for it from Sabrina, the guardian was no where in sight. Not that anyone could tell he was alone really, with people milling about aisle and trying to push carts around each other and little, squished toddlers that were hard to see.

He guarded his particular door too. Not nobody, not no how, was allowed to come here!! Uh-uh! He'd glare and make faces and gwararah sounds; if really interrupted, he'd yell NO! and MINE! then he'd start hitting and kicking and---well, he'd bite too if you got close enough.

So it was when Flitch showed up. The little tyke glared at his new challenger. "MINE." He informed him right off, grabby hands upwards to try to grasp the way-up-high handle.

Flitch couldn't help but crack a smile at the little blue-haired toddler who had just asserted dominance over the ice cream. He would have laughed too, but that would have been rude. Honestly. It was just too cute.

"Oh," he said, playing along as he tried (and failed) to look serious over the matter. "This is your ice cream section? Do you need help opening the door?"

Hm. Maybe giving the little one ice cream wasn't the smartest of ideas (since few toddlers had any sense of restraint), but why not play along for the time being? It wasn't like he was in a rush.

Lex's eyes went big. That---Well, that provided a problem. Did he staunchly keep his territory, or did he let the funny new guy open the door for him? He knew from experience that door-opening meant that that blessed cool air from inside would flow out and be even BETTER than just the glass, but did that mean he would get toted away super quick after that? Would he give up his spot FOREVER??

Lex's face was all twisted in having to make that unpleasant decision, "Mine---" The statement was far less assertive than before, "Who are you??"

Oh, heeee---in a different time, a different location, and a different maturity level, that could have been a sort of demand a guard would have made of a stranger trying to pass through his territory. It was certainly said with that sort of defiance.

Again, he had to work to hold a laugh back. How cute! Though, he wondered if the little boy's parent(s) were about. Not that he minded humoring the kid, but...

"I'm Flitch," he answered genially, leaning on the handle of his cart. "Who are you?"

Lex hesitated. "Open?" He finally asked, turning his attention back grabby-hands!!! At the freezer door. "S'cold!" He explained, glee entering into his voice.

He turned to look back, eyes all big and pleading. The moment that door was open, he was so going to crawl in to live there FOREVER!!

Hee. How cute. "Sure, I can open it." And with that, Flitch reached out to open the door with a sharp tug, though he was sure to not hit the little kid. "There you go. You want some ice cream?"

Well, at least that's what Flitch thought. After all, didn't just about every little kid like ice cream? Or was he just going in for the cold? Eh, either or.

Still, he couldn't help but wonder about the parents for this kid. One would think they'd swoop in when he started a conversation with a stranger. "So, what's your name?" Maybe if he got the kid to reveal it, he could get the manager to announce it over the intercom. It was only the right thing to do.

Lex let out a squeal of delight and promptly started to crawl into the freezer, "NOT Lexie!" He squealed out. This new person--Flitch. It was a Flitch.---absolutely deserved to know what his name was not.

He kicked his legs as he tried to scrabble up---up---and tried to grab something to help him. The something was entirely not stable, and he ended up falling--BOOM!---butt down on Flitch's foot, and eyes wide. The large tub of icecream he'd grabbed dropped on his leg. Lex started to scream his high-pitched squeal of hurt protest. His hands reached upwards for, for... .well, let's not admit he wanted any form of comfort. NOT Lex!

"Ah. Not Lexie. I'll remember that."

OW. Okay, toddler falling on foot=painful. Flitch winced, and winced once more as Lexie started screeching. Oh dear.

"Hey," Flitch said, kneeling down. Oh dear. How to stop the screeching? "Ae you okay?"

Lex continued to holler at the top of his lungs, "Bad, BAD, BAD!!! I hate you! Baa--aaaadd!"

Before long, the screams brought Sabrina rushing over. She'd already been headed in frozen foods department to try to follow the boy. He----had a honing device or something for this place----and she took a relieved breath as she saw the panicked child there trying to calm Lex, who was screaming his usual nonsense. All was well then.

"I'm so sorry! I didn't mean for him to get away like that---I don't even know how he managed---I'm sorry," she swooped down to pick up Lex, wincing as he grabbed at her hair and PULLED, kicked, thrashed, and denounced the whole world as being bad and hated. Oh, and pointed a few times to announce that,
itsssaflllliitccch. She kissed his forehead and hugged him close to try to make the batting and kicking less forceful, by merit of having less room to thrash.

"Are you ok, Flitch?" The question wasn't at all directed to the wailing toddler, but to the blue-haired child in front of her. "Behave, Lex. Stop being a---uh, ill-mannered!" If Lex was well enough to announce his name, he was well enough to not be panicked over or coddled.

Oh thank goodness! When Lex's guardian appeared and swept up the kid, he rose, smiling sheepishly and used one webbed hand to try and straighten his hair out in an almost nervous gesture. "I, uh, yeah... Sorry. He was climbing around in the freezer and fell. Sorry."

...Wow. What a temper! Even his brother paled in comparison. "Do you need some help?"
PostPosted: Wed Apr 02, 2008 1:50 am

"Oh, that's not---" Whether she was going to say 'surprising' to his first statement or 'necessary' to his last was lost as Lex put all his strength in a big lunge to get away. Sabrina fumbled, catching him again by his leg and shirt. "Lex!" The word was nearly a whimper itself, coming from a grown woman. She pulled him back up upside down.

Lex blinked, the surprise startling him enough to sufficiently shock him, and then being upside down interesting him enough---especially as his attention was caught by, "Icecream!!"

"Yeah, you scream," Sabrina agreed, "If you keep fighting, you will fall all the way down one day, like you fell all the way out of the freezer," she took advantage of the momentary calm to bring him toward the freezer, and then suddenly kneeled downwards so that his head just barely missed hitting the ground, "Like that, like earlier." Then she stood, "Except I'm really much further up. And it hurt to fall, didn't it? Did you like falling?"

Lex burst into fresh tears, now really holding his hands out for Fltich. That person had helped him with the freezer, he hadn't nearly crushed his head open, just his butt! Lex wanted him instead!

Sabrina set Lex right again, "Well, if your mom or dad doesn't mind, if you can prove that you can make Lex stop crying, I'll help you with your groceries and buy anything you want in the store for you too. I'm done with mine, and you can play with him." She doubted Flitch could manage that--or would even want to, so she didn't think there was actually any harm in offering.

Oh... oh dear. Flitch's mouth hung open in pure surprise as the woman exercised the most extreme form of punishment and threats he had ever seen. His hand, formerly messing with his hair, went up to cover his mouth. How... Oh dear! Was this sort of thing even allowed?

"I... uh... sure?" now he felt coerced into doing whatever this woman said. In all he didn't MIND the screechy child- plenty of that at home. Though the money offer? What? "It's-it's fine. I have enough to cover the grocery bill."
