Zazel... was in a funk. She had been for a long while - ever since realizing that special something about herself. Most looked forward to such things, embraced it wholly or at least accepted it as part of themselves. Not so for this teenager. Suffering from hay fever, she found herself morphing between two forms on an almost regular basis... a foot in two different worlds as it were. It had hindered friendships as she was afraid to talk to anyone for any length of time in case her 'curse', as she termed it, would frighten them away.
It was better not to have tried at all then to lose a friend. She even kept it from her family, often wandering far from their home so she could be alone. But today.... today she craved company. But no one was around. Growling something to herself, the female scuffed her boots on the ground before stalking out.
The one time she decides she wants some familial contact and she can't find a soul. There were eight of them! Her luck must indeed be non existent. A sibling would have been nice... a father even better. They were the adults... they were supposed to have all the answers.
Bitterly, she started away, growling as she fought back tears. It just wasn't fair. Why her?

In point of fact, Cyr'uhan had just stepped out for a moment or two, to look into something ... and was on his way back. Even with such a large family as he and Ali had now, he tried to do his best to keep up with the kids, somewhat. Still, it was hard sometimes... but even so, he'd noticed how quiet and withdrawn Zazel was starting to get as she grew older.
It worried him a little, remembering his own childhood. And he hoped... that she didn't think either her or Ali didn't love her or anything like that. The way he'd felt growing up.
So when he spotted his daughter stalking away in the opposite direction, Cyr raised his head and called out, "Zazel? Where are you off to?" He just meant to ask, out of curiosity ... she was old enough now that it wasn't too dangerous, and he hoped that she wouldn't take it the wrong way.

"What!?" She barked before she could stop herself, glancing back just long enough to recognize Cyr'uhan. Biting her lower lip, she shook her head and kept walking. It wasn't like he'd really care anyways. None of them did... that was why none of them were around. "Nothing! Leave me alone." Growling, she swished her tails angrily and didn't look back.
Silently, she prayed a wind wouldn't pick up and blow dust into her face. That'd be just what she needed, a reminded of where she came from and how very confused she was. She knew very few of her peers, had even fewer friends... didn't even know if she should out companionship from girls or boys... uncertainty after uncertainty had piled on the introverted teenager, driving her to seek out advice and now that a wished for figure was actually there, she found herself calling it a mistake.
Better to remain quiet and appear strong then not. She had to put on a bold front to compensate for the perceived unbalance her ability brought.
But she couldn't help the sniffle that seemed to happen of its own accord. Cursing softly, she hoped her father hadn't heard that. He definitely wouldn't leave her alone then.
