 ((This was a private roleplay between Toshi and Rai, but now it has been opened for free posting.))
Nereus sighed, the wind whipping around his fur. Up above, a celestial curtain had only started to fall, the sunset in the side of the scene bloody and lurid, the very sight of it sending pangs to his heart.
He didn't understand why, but he was a thoughtful, sentimental person and things like that tended to happen to people like that.
Or it made more sense when they did, anyway, he fancied. Huh.
Sitting on the edge of the cliff overlooking the lighthouse, he felt ratherfree, precarious and like it was alright to be himself.
It was a good feeling, he mused as he settled into his paws, peering out into the night.
He hoped he wouldn't forget.

 From a little cleft, tucked away down the side of the cliff, a pair of ears twitched at a deep sigh. Light blue eyes blinked open from behind a disheveled pair of rose-colored glasses and the Taestysia looked up towards the peak of the cliff with mild interest. Rising to his paws, Ceron stretched luxuriously for a few moments, then lifted a paw and rightly adjusted his glasses before climbing up to the surface of the overhand and shaking the dirt from his claws. He gazed at a lonely-looking Tae, sitting at the peak and looking out over the water, silhouetted by the sunset. "Hrmm..." He murred to himself, flicking his long tail and padding over to the peak before quite boldly sitting himself down right next to the other Tae. He trained his eyes to the view before him, admiring the lovely colors of the sunset, and without looking at the other, he spoke in a quiet, smooth tone, "What's the sigh for, fellow? Such despair doesn't quite fit with the brilliant scene laid out before us now, does it?" Ceron grinned, glancing over at the down-trodden Taestysia from behind his heart-shaped spectacles, his eyes shining with a warm glow in the evening light.(I apologize for posting so late! Ack, I said I would rp with you and then leave you hanging, sorry! XD I will be better, promise!)

((No, it's my turn to apologize for being late in the reply >: I was asked to change the setting to fit the geography of Savah Arda, therefore lighthouse no more XD If you don't mind editing that out.))
Whipping his head around, Nereus's tangerine eyes settled on an amethyst Tae with a gleam in his eye, strange glasses hanging haphazardly of his nose. Offering an akward smile, he reveled in the smooth voice that seemed to echo below in the cliffs, soothing, warm, caring.
It had been a while since he had heard such a voice, to be honest. He was fascinated with voices (and everything else, almost, but that was beside the point).
Burying his head into his paws and peering over the scenic view he turned an eye towards his companion.
"Lonely, is all," he mused as if talking to himself, airy voice light and fragile-sounding.
"I did not fancy I'd find anyone out here, either. I suppose I was wrong." he remarked, noding curtly at the new Tae. Turning his gaze back to the sunset, he shuffled backward a little as an afterthought, feeling slightly endangered with a stranger behind him and a precarious fall in front.

Ceron grinned and gave a soft chuckle, finding something about the other's mannerisms slightly comical. "I find myself here often," He began again, his giggle-fit apparently done with, "for one thing, this ridge has many a lovely sunning spot; and in the evening, one can climb up here as we are now, and watch the stars awake from their slumber in a burning ember sea." The odd Tae gazed wistfully up at the sky and gave a cleansing sigh. Flicking his tail, the amethyst and while male tipped his head in Nereus's direction and mewed thoughtfully, "I should say, however, that your statement of being lonely is a bit boggling. You came out here on you own, did you not? If you were going to feel lonely, why not invite another fellow to come out with you? Or a lady, perhaps?" Ceron's face lit up with a grin hinting at mischief, and he remained blissfully unaware of the green Tae's nervous disposition.

Hearing the sudden laugh beside him, Nereus nearly fled, memories of being pinned down onto chapped desert floor flooding his feverish mind. He still had scars from when that wound reopened in the forest. Glancing uneasily towards his partner, he offered a half-smile.
"I see. I was searching for some solitude, and I happened to find this place just as the sun had hit the horizon. I find it romantic, but there is no companion to share it with." he sighed, pawing at the groung lightly with no interest at all, looking up every so often to make sure that his partner had not left, listening closely to his lilting voice.
"Boggling, you say? I came here to think, which requires being alone. But upon thinking, I find that I am lonely here. I tend to find many things when I think. The rate that the sun falls, for example," he nods at the now disappearing fire in the sky with wonder and boredom, both melted into one cacophany of an expression.
He didn't impress himself with any of these feats. Of course not, he was lonely, after all.

For the first time since happening upon this Tae, Ceron was beginning to get the impression that something was not right with him. Gazing at the uneasy, mixed expression and the listless actions of the other, the poetic male huffed and tilted his head. "Well, that's just no good." He said after a moment with a little finality, "While I do encourage the act of thinking, I simply cannot condone it if it only leads its thinker on a corkscrew path to depression!" Ears held erect, the soft-spoken male gazed at Nereus evenly, his expression serious and firm as if the other had suggested throwing himself off the cliff. "We will have no more of this lonely solitude, my new friend!" He announced, not being able to hold up the 'fatherly' facade any longer and breaking out in a friendly smile, "We must find your happiness again, for surely you've misplaced it somewhere. Come along, this is a serious matter, and we've no time to lose now. Not with such a pressing mission." As the last rays of the burning sky faded over the horizon and the full moon illuminated where it's opposite vanished, Ceron got to his paws and nudged the green tae beside him, eagerly, to do the same. Then, adjusting his glasses, which had again slipped, the amethyst male led the way back down the ridge. "Hurry, now!" He called back with a jubilant laugh; how he enjoyed a good frolic beneath the moonlight.

Finding their quiet, thoughtful conversation like a miracle medicine to his aching heart, Nereus laid his head in his crossed paws and flicked his tail back and forth, trying to swallow himself in the sadness that proved much stronger than him. If he could drown in it, but come back intact, then he was either more valiant than he thought or the sadness itself was a lot less painful than expected.
It was a gut-wrenching way to spend the time, half of your life wasted wondering if your sadness was profound enough. He liked it, though, somehow, just waiting and watching and feeling. It had a certain rhythm to it.
By the time the moon had risen and the Tae beside him called out to him, leaping and bounding below the cliff with the joyfulness of a rina, Nereus let out a sharp laugh, finding the gaily situation quite amusing.
A complete stranger was willing to go this far for him. Smiling, he rose from his position and padded down the rocky side carefully, wondering what plans this new companion had for him.

Ceron led the other tae down and around the cliff until their paws met soft sand and the waves crashed in their ears. "Now then, perhaps you've left it somewhere on the beach?" He began, looking over the dark water and all the random debris washed up on shore, "You've got to start somewhere, don't you?" Trotting just above the waveline, the white and amethyst accented male began nosing under rotting driftwood and turning over shells and rocks in his search. "I do love combing the beach at night!" He called to Nereus, then took up a troubled expression and gazed again towards the sea, "Although... Oh I do hope your happiness didn't drift out to sea with the tide... That would be terribly depressing..." He flicked his tail a few times thoughtfully before tilting his head and continuing to go through the debris on shore.
(Think maybe we can open this RP up to allow for interaction with other Taestysia? Kind of like 'searching around the world,' They could talk to others and ask if they've seen the 'lost happiness' and simultaneously meet and perhaps make friends with others... What do you think Rai?)

Nereus tilted his head at the comment, sunshine-tinted irises blinking in the moonlight. Was he looking for something? Watching in confusion as the lavender pelted Tae rummaged through the fine white sand, he shivered into his fur, a rather cold draft drifting over the water.
Turning his head back, he chuckled at the seriousness of which the other searched, when most of his own life was simply a figure of speech. He did not even know this man's name, and yet he went to such lengths, as to turn over rocks and bits of incandescent sea glass, all to find a happiness that was supposedly intangible.
"The beach is a melancholy place. It seems to take happiness away, sometimes," he mused, closing his eyes and finding that there was a hole in his heart, just like the other Tae had noticed.
Perhaps it was just the water.
Frowning, he turned back the male.
"I'm sorry, but it seems I did not catch your name."
((That sounds excellent and like it would be a lot of fun! I'll change the title to ORP and see who drifts in ^__~))

Isis watched the two males from a far distance.
“What are those two doing?” She said quietly as she watched one go though the debris. After watching them for a few seconds she merely sighed and decided to go see what the fuss was about.

Ceron glanced at the green male and tilted his head in thought before his expression brightened. "Oh my! You're right; how rude of me!" He began, appearing to have become a bit flustered as he turned to face Nereus completely and sit up straight, "You may call me Ceron, and please forgive this slight indiscretion. Now, what might your name be? Dear.. we really did skip formalities, didn't we?"
About that time, he noticed the dark shadow of a Tae making their way across the beach towards them from the corner of his eye and turned towards them openly. As she neared, the spectacle-wearing male swiftly took note of her feminine appearance and bounced over to her with his tail held high; his mind, being as flighty as it was, completely forgot to wait for a response. "Good evening, fair lady!" He called in a jubilant meow, "What brings you out so late? And have you happened upon any happiness lately?" He took a moment to fix his heart-shaped glasses, as they had fallen crooked on his muzzle, and looked back at Nereus, flicking his tail invitingly. "You see, my friend here seems to have misplaced his and we are searching for it now! Ahm... What did you say your name was, fellow?" He took on an abashed expression as he asked his last question; remembering now that he had rushed off just as the other was about to introduce himself.

“Happiness?” Se asked confused. “Like the emotion? Sorry but I haven’t.” She answered shaking her head

Nereus sighed at his embarassment, finding it all very amusing. It wasn't meant to be such a big deal. Flicking his tail slowly, running it through the fine sediment he listening to every syllable of the male's name, every click and hiss and the smallest of wisps in his voice as he said it,
"Ceron."
About to introduce himself, he stopped mid-stutter, surprised of the usually well-mannered Tae. He had bounded out by himself to meet a strangely coloured female, blue and yellow markings? And did that look like an.... eye...? Nereus wondered if she could be trusted, but, alas, Ceron looked like they were doing just fine.
Caught off guard, he gave a lop-sided smile, half at Ceron, the other at the lady, bowing his head.
"I'm Nereus, Ceron. We had a nice chat up there, thank you. And who may this lovely lady be?"
