This is a desert of rock and dust, where the sky is heavy-laden with dark clouds and everything is washed in a grey-blue light that seems to issue forth from nowhere. There is always a cold, almost damp wind stirring the granules of powdered stone, but the air itself is bone-dry, and what few trees grow seem already half-petrified. Occasionally, ruins of buildings rise from the ground, but no-one seems to live there; amidst the rubble, one can catch sight of the occasional headstone, each somehow obscured by the skittering debris.
Although there are mountains in the distance, they never seem to move any closer, and wandering through this area seems endless, as though the very scenery is repeating itself. In truth, the Drifting Wasteland is nothing but a dark illusion, and the "wanderings" of those who wander in are usually a source of amusement for those who reside here, often unseen.

Personality: Sideways is an "interesting" case of many facets, "facets" here meaning "bipolar to the extreme." Capable of swinging drastically from unflappable gunslinger to maniac psycho, Sideways has been affected by a long stretch as Unicron's servant, which has been known to have a corrosive effect on one's psyche; some question if Sideways even has his own personality anymore. He spends most of his time as a Deadpan Snarker who finds other people hilarious at best, tiresome at worst, but he has a tendency to shift without warning into either of his "other" moods; this seems to be triggered by emotional upset, but since this is Sideways, it's hard to pinpoint exactly what set him off.
History: Neither Autobot nor Decepticon, Sideways is... or was... one of the few remaining Transformers of Planet X, whose real name is now forgotten. Once part of his planet's plan for ultimate power (heh-heh), its subsequent destruction drove Sideways and his fellow survivors to swear allegiance to Unicron, the legendary Planet-Eater, in their quest for vengeance. Sideways traveled the universe strewing chaos, feeding the fires of the Autobot/Decepticon war in order to feed Unicron and rebuild Planet X, but finally pushed his luck too far when his two-faced (ahem) behavior was unmasked (no pun intended), earning him the enmity of both Transformer factions. Although he had the remarkable ability to elude death, he was eventually caught up in a clash that destroyed Sideways' physical form for good; just short of achieving his goal, the disbelieving Transformer found his Spark inhabiting a very different form...
