Violet eyes gazed up at the dark sky that just started to change color. One by one the stars would fade as the bright blue color of day started to appear on the horizon. The leopon sighed as he watched the sky. A mixture of day and night, so beautiful yet so mysterious. In some ways the dawn represented his family. So full of secrets and lies yet still beautiful relationships were formed between the cubs.

Thinking about it just made his head hurt even more. Matojo had so many questions that needed answers, and was wondering if there would ever be anyone he could ask.

Kafiri had wandered off for the night and was returning back to the area she and her brothers had claimed for their home just as the sky started to fade from darkness. Their trip was proving pointless, none of them had been able to find anything and they were just getting farther and farther away from home. Kafiri had no complaints, though. She was far from out-going but out in the roguelands she felt much freer than she ever had at home. The boys might not have understood, but she had been treated the worst, she and Mezi. And Kafiri was not as resistant to it as the others, she worried about her sisters occasionally, wondering if they were OK at home, if their mother had improved or only become worse.

Matojo was hard to pick out in the dark, and she didn't notice she was heading right for him until she was well within shouting distance of him. She put on a small smile and jogged over to him.

"Matojo," she greeted him.

His head turned when he heard paws coming for him, and a smile came across his maw when he fount it to be his sister. "Hey Kafiri." He said as she approached him, he stood to greet her. "Find anything?" He asked, a small trace of hope in his eyes. Had she found something? Was there any news of the god that they called 'father'? He hoped that their trip wasn't all for nothing.

Kafiri shook her head when she was asked if she found anything, knowing he meant something more than just the simple little things she might have enjoyed about her trip out and about the time being. When she was a couple feet from him, she took a seat and curled her pale tail around her feet.

"No, I didn't," she verbalized her gesture, "The land we're in is beautiful, but I don't honestly know what we're looking for exactly, what kind of things would help us find .. well, anything."

She sighed.

"What about you?"

He sat down when she did, and let his tail hang behind him. "I didn't find anything either." He said and looked down to his paws, his eyes dancing over the bracelet like pattern of spots around his toes.

He brought his paw up to his head and rubbed at his eyes, "This is leading us no where." he muttered as he put his paw down and looked back up to the sky. Being older than the two, he took it upon himself to look after the two on their journey, and in turn he blamed himself for not finding anything. It was times like this that he felt useless.

He knew they couldn't go on like this forever, but the rest of their siblings needed to know. He just couldn't let it end like this. He needed to at least find something. Weather it just be the smallest bit if information. He had to find it.

"Where is Mezi?" she asked when he said he hadn't found anything either. They all seemed to feel rather similar about this situation, and though Aeglaeca was around with them she was much more attached to Mezi and more curious of his whereabouts. She and Mezi always had been very close, against all odds. Even with Matojo.. it was surprising anyone in the family managed to form strong bonds with each other.

"We'll find something," Kafiri said half-heartedly, trying to be encouraging, "We have to if we keep looking, we've been trying so hard."

He shook his head again. "I'm not sure, I haven't heard or seen him since we split up." He said as he glanced around hoping he would see their younger brother. He sighed again and looked back to Kafiri. She was right. He had to keep some hope up, if he didn't, it would only hurt their search even more.

"Your right." He smiled down at her, "I just wish there was something that would point us in the right direction." He said as he looked back to the sky.

"I know what you mean," she agreed, glancing around as if hoping a sign would just randomly pop out of the grass. She did have one idea, but she was rather reluctant. Glancing down at her paws and pushing around the grass there anxiously, she decided it might be worth suggesting.

"Well, what we do know is that Mezi and I look most like him," she pointed out, glancing up from her paws, "And since Mezi is like Aunt Ajali's pattern.. and I have the markings on my back that don't come from our family.. maybe I should just ask around more? Maybe if I talked to a lot of lions around someone might have met him before, might recognize something on me.."

Matojo winced at the mention of a lion, but felt guilty after, after he was half lion. It was still a new thing for him, but after finding out, he didn't know what to think about his blood. After his mother's speeches about leopards being the best species, he didn't know what to think after he found out that he not only had lion blood running through his veins, but god blood.

He then nodded to his sister. "That might work." he said as he looked at his own pelt. Black and white wouldn't help very much, the only markings he inherited from his father were the bands around his paws, but he knew that wouldn't help them.

Kafiri had always disliked the lion side of her since that was obviously why their mother hated them so much, the small fact they uncovered about it being a god was of small consequence- it only seemed to make finding him that much less likely. She wasn't terribly keen on meeting a lot of lions, but she wanted to help, wanted to prove she could be useful. Aeglaeca and Mezi were an important color, Matojo might be, but she had colors and markings to show her heritage. She would have to get up the nerve and just do it.

"I'll try it next time," she agreed finally, "Now I think it might be nice just to rest and wait for Mezi."

He nodded, "Wouldn't want to leave him behind." he said as he lie in the soft grass and yawned. He had been up most of the night looking for clues and was worn out. He stretched his paws out in front of him, and let his white tipped tail curl around his body. "Hope he's alright..." he murmured before looking back to the sky.

Kafiri nodded enthusiastically at the necessity of making sure they stuck together, she didn't want to lose her brothers. They were all she had, and all she cared to have at that point in time. She was happier not being at home with their mother harassing them (especially her) but out here.. she didn't have anything except her brothers, and she knew that.

When Matojo lay down, she mimicked him and flopped onto the grass. It might seem odd for them to rest during the day, but sometimes things seemed nicer at night. Kafiri knew she'd been out for awhile during the night, awake when she might have been asleep.

"He'll be back soon, I bet," she said, yawning and inching closer to Matojo to watch the sky with him.

He nodded and gave his sister a delicate smile. He then leaned over and started to groom her, cleaning the fur on top of her head. Though she didn't look anything like their mother, he valued his sisters colors. He saw them as something special, something that shouldn't be taken lightly. They reminded him of the sunset, his favorite time of day.

Kafiri sighed peacefully and rested her head on her paws, content to stay how she was for now. Mezi compared her colors to a flower, Matojo to the sunset.. she knew they liked her colors, thought they were very pretty.. but then poor Kafiri always felt it was the major reason she'd been picked on so much as a cub. It was not something she valued so much until she learned how much others liked it.

"I think, I think I'll just stay here until Mezi comes by," she said, holding back a yawn. She was ready to nap, maybe.

He smiled and finished grooming her. He then started to hum a soft tune to help lull her to sleep. He could tell she was tired and would keep an eye out for Mezi. When he would spot him he'd be sure to wake her up.
