Would you be willing to buy anime episodes off the internet?
Yes, it would be very helpful, as anime is hard to get where I live.

This is a poll asking wether or not you would be willing to buy complete anime episodes as downloads off the internet. Much like fansubs, only for pay, with the money going towards the licensing company.

A downloading system like this might help anime fans living in areas where anime DVDs are difficult to purchase at "meat-space" stores, such as rural areas. Or, they may serve as ways for people to preview an episode of a series before deciding to buy an entire DVD.

One question popped into my head when I read the topic title: What if the download is interupted?

I would be pissed if I shelled out virtual cash for a download that faults in the middle of downloading...

...like...uber pissed.

it would depend on how much it costs

I would say no, because I don''t like downloading stuff off the internet, and for anime epsiodes as well... never, I like to have the physical, it is so easy to lose all the episodes that you pay for if you download them on the compy. Also my computer is to slow to watch really anything so it would be a double no for me!

I'm unsure about this. I'd have to hear other people who have used it and read more about it. But I've got some questions:

1. Would we get a refund if the episode is corrupt or stops in the middle of a download?

2. Would they be BitTorrent files or direct downloads for either Windows Media Player or Quicktime?

I would prefer Windows Media. It's easier to work with and the quality is better. (At least on my comp.)

Most of the episodes I''ve downloaded (AKA the only episode I ever downloaded: the legal download of the first episode of Risky Safety (subbed) from the official website) have been for Quicktime.

I prefer Windows Media, but I gave Quicktime because not everyone has a PC. Some people have Macs and prefer not to run Microsoft programs.

If it was individual eppys I definately would. I really have a problem with paying $30 for a dvd with 1 or 2 good episodes on it, out of 4. stressed

I actually just don't like to watch things on my computer... I don't why, I just prefer the TV. Of course, it would be nice if I only wanted a certain episode or group of episodes.

I download a lot of Anime off the internet, legally of course. Personally, I think this would be a bad idea. First of all, you can''t just throw up a server and load anime onto it, it would be extremely hard to manage.

Second off, it would be useless to many people. Not everyone has a cable internet connection like I, so downloading would take forever. Setting up a torrents system would be problematic also, being as keeping hackers from it would be hard.

As well, I think it would just be useless. They would have to encode them (like MP3s) so people didn''t share them, which would mean that you''d have to watch them on a special player on your computer, which means no DVD burning, which means buying the DVDs would be so much simpler.

Nope. I'd never download any anime off of the internet. I have dialup internet so downloading a whole episode would take weeks of nonstop downloading. And then you have to add in the fact that I'd have to disconnect to use the phone if anyone tried calling and then I'd have to restart the download all over again...

But if I ever get better internet, any kind of broadband for that matter, I'd be more than happy to pay to download episodes if you could pay with a moneyorder.

I'd have to say no. For one thing, many people in the areas without the meat space might not have fast enough connections to make it worth the time. For another, while it might be cheaper (without the manufacture costs and whatnot), it seems more risky in case, like people have mentioned, it gets corrupted or deleted. Third, and possibly most importantly, it's much easier to transfer, spread around, and otherwise distribute things on the computer than DVDs. I'd have to give this one a personal no.
