OK This happened to me, and its a True Story.At March 29, 2:55 P.m Cali time on Saterday. I came to the library to return a anime movie and check another one out. Along with requesting a game, something they do now here, when a Librarine I know come up to me with two books. One hard cover copy of The Alchemyst and a advanced Copy of The Magician the second book to the first. And told me that they where free and I could get them if I sign up to meet the Author, Michael Scott, and asked questions The Alchemyst,about the book at the Teen Book Group. Now I never read but I did wanted to try and read it. So I said, "Sign Me Up!" Even more, they only allowed 14 Teens to sign up and get the free books, and I was the first! But then it hit me. I haven't read the first book, and I needed to sumbit questions by May 1, Thursday, at 4 P.M when he came. So now I'm on a mission to read the book and ask the questions but also come to the book group thing. Something that I never done before in my life. So I like to know;
Have This Ever Happen To you? Did you ever get a free book from signing up at something? Or have you ever gotten a free book for doing something?

Very cool! If my library could afford to have an author speak here, that sounds like a great idea! I'll have to mention it to our Teen Librarian.
If you've got the time, you might want to read through the thread he made here on Gaia, and see what kinds of questions he's already answered.
Once in a while I've gotten a free gift from a vendor for ordering stuff for the library, but it's usually a book BAG (bleah).

The only time I remember getting free books was when my aunt from Florda brought me a few boxes full from a liabrary that had flooded out and was giving them away. I ended up only keeping a few of them.

That's cool!
My high school has a thing where four book are sent to them each year (about twenty copies of each I guess), and the head of the english department choose students to read them. If you read a lot (like I do) you could get all four books. All you had to do was once you finished them you had to write a review and e-mail it to the teacher so she could forward the student opinions to the company that published and provided the books.
I found a couple of nice ones through that program.
