Have you ever taken a concept known by people all over and twisted it? (Like the biting fairys in Jim henson's 'the labarynth'? or the ugly fairys in Pan's labarynth?) Have you created something in your world that is completely new? (aliens, words, governments etc) Have you even created your own language? Are there terms/notes/history etc unique to your rp? Well, you creative people, come here and display your cretaivity! biggrin I thought it'd be cool to complie a little encyclopedia/dictionary of thsi stuff. Just post yoru enteries and I'll put them up. If your enteries are going to be bigger (eg a set of info unqiue to a world you created, then please say what world it's unique to.) Catergories [Please post if you want/need more] eg, is your unicorn comepletly different to other peoples? have you come up with new races? Quote: Worlds/universes/dimensions/places names and descriptiosn of strange and fantastical new worlds XD is your language the next Tolkien's elvish? have you come up with slang that coudl better clockwork orange? postie ^^ Name that item/event etc! What is it? eg Quidditch Important encyclopedic info you might wnat to expoud upon ^^

I might as well say something. I dont know how it may help but its a good try...
Inspiration-
People, we need inspiration to work. Was your Idea out of the blue or spongtanious? Or did you read the Book of Revelations and got so scared you began to dream and dream and got inspired? Face it, it had to come from somewhere your thoughts.
Characterization- By this I mean how your character's personality and manner of acting. Writers always try to give life unto their characters by making every aspect of their actions beleivable. Do you have some son of a....gun badass? Or a real nice guy that is a regular pushover. Also, REALLY important to also focus on the orgins. We dont want a hero that came out of nowhere... at least me.
Style of writing you excel at- I dont know if I should write this here but Im gonna do it... All writers have their own unique style when they write. Making descriptions so damn good is a main style for writers like Patricia Mckissack and Stephen King. But that is how they excel and grab attention. You can also be like one of my favorite authors Roger Zelazny and work on characterization and action for the most part and describe only key parts only once. Or talk to the reader, like Edgar Allen Poe does in the Tell-Tale Heart. Whatever your style and manner of speech(fancy, regular, or slang) if you excel at that, you will impress people.
Theme- Many fiction writers have a theme to their writing. Wether it is a growing experience or a problem we are going through or something we need to take heed of, many wirters add it. I shouldn't use myself as an example, im still learning and have been writing for only a year, but If I were to add a theme to my work, It would be something like the learning of respect and equality. And I have that as a hidden theme in something ive been thinking of. Make sure readers are able to see and feel what you are talking about, or else your efforts are hopeless.
Im just showing ideas I had when I read that Dragontamer wanted us to add our own ideas if we wanted to. And My advice is advice from a guy that rarely reads books, is young and feeble, and has been writing for a year now. And i barely know ANYTHING about Stephen King, I read some article on his horror stories and how he disturbed the reporter with his writing. But I have read Zelazny and Poe. And also Patricia Mckissack. SO maybe my post wont be useless...

I know Poe, and barely know who Stephen King is. I know nothing else of those writers. I read fantasy authors ONLY. xd Well DT here will know this idea I came up with. I'ts a sport I made from scratch, but recently found out it had some similarities with lacrosse. rolleyes PORTAL Ok, this may be slightly confusing, but pay close attention to the diagram. That diagram is the playing field, and all the stuff listed. I shall now resume to explain the list. Quote: CENTER - The starting point of the game. This is where the ball is popped up from the ground and playing resumes. When the ball enters the goal, it travels down one of two underground passages back to the center, ready to be deployed once more. GOAL - This is where you score points. You hit or throw the ball into the goal to score one, three, or five points. A door is located behind these, where the players enter the field by. This is sealed during gameplay. UNDERGROUND PASSAGE - Though only 3 are listed, there are nine total under the playing field. Six of these transfer the ball from the goal to the center. The other three transport the ball to 3 different locations. This enhances the gameplay, making it fun and challanging. Quote: GOALIE - the man whose soul purpose is to defend the goal. It is possible for them to secure hold of the ball and hit it as far as they wish, without interference. WATCHMAN - This man defends the 3 portals, in which transfers the ball to 3 random areas. The game is named after this. STRIKER - The main player of the game. The Striker is able to freely move about the field. Quote: ONE POINT LINE - The line closest to the goal which you are aiming for. If you make a goal from this point up, you recieve one point. THREE POINT LINE - Three lines intersect each other in the center of the field. Each one of these, from that point upward to the one point line, offers 3 points if you make a goal from that point. FIVE POINT LINE - All three walls and up to the three point line offers five points, if a goal is made from that point. *NOTE* When I speak of making a certain amount of points, it is only directed to a one specific goal. If I am on the left wall, and I hit the goal on the bottom right, that is five points. However, If I am on the left wall and I make a goal in the top goal, this is most likely only three points. The field is split into thirds, basically. Keep this in mind carefully. Now, for a few minor details. This will include a single picture, which I will put up now. The image above is what players use to carry or hit the ball with. This piece of equipment is called the Rod. The overall object of the game is to score as many points possible in an hour. The winner is the team with the most points. Penalties are listed, but because we're kind roleplayers, none of these will be broken, will they? Quote: - Intentionally hitting, especially the head - Kicking the ball: use only the Rod! - Hitting ball in own goal - travel more than 10 feet with ball in cup. Soooooooo to sum it up: - 3 teams: 3 players on each team, totaling 9 players on the field - 3 players run around with the ball, 3 players gaurd the goal, and 3 players protect the "portals" - score as many points as possible in an hour - winner is the team with the most points - a few penalties and rules, but not many - rediculously planned out out of sheer boredom and spare time

And B10, he does do fantasy (I belive he has a big fantasy series called Dark Tower or something. But he also has sci-fi and fantasy) i'm just gettingr elaly into steven king. I must buy/borrow more books. I've been a Dean Koontz girl uptil now ^_~ As for themes....in my stories I'd say it's family mainly. And feeling safe and finding your place in the world. I've also got into Christian/Judaism style angels in my stories. My current novel's got them in teh background (with one or two demons in the foreground), and my next book I plan to do is all about a modern reincarnation of Jesus. I have a feeling that's part of being brought up a christian and wnating to belive in all that, even though I find I can't belive in it I weave them into my fiction and make up my own versions :3
