Sweeney Todd has to be my current favourite Johnny Depp movie. I mean, he sings with an accent! xd
The ending was pretty sad, but I have to say that as sad as it was, it was a great ending. Other movies I have seen just killed the movie by having a bad ending. But Tim Burton nailed it 3nodding

The ending was unexpected, but overall the movie was spectacular to say the least.

I mainly disagree your comments...
The end was quite obvious and totally expected -but still great!
Rickman is one of my favourite actors ever -the only reason I saw first Potter films, until Oldman joined the cast!- but definetively he's not a singer. Awesome actor, but he's got no educated voice. Depp's always known to have interest in music -he had a band- but he never singed, and he did it pretty fine. Anyway the youngest actors were the best singers. Great ones!
I would rate this film as a good one. I still think that my beloved Barton could have done it even better, but -hey- he already reached perfection twice mrgreen

johnny depp is, and always has been, a great actor, and has always been quite the sexy beast. I was pleasantly surprised at Johnny's performance in Sweeny Todd.

I also forgot -
One of my fave characters in Sweeney Todd: ANTHONY HOPE (Jamie Campbell Bower) The sailor with the long-ish hair who falls for Johana? As feminine as he may look, I loved him! He had such a soft, smooth voice heart
And I was pretty surprised at Rickamn's singing. After watching Harry Potter I never would have thought he could sing! whee

I absolutely LOVED this movie. I have seen it 4 times now.
I was not shocked by the story line or anything, seeing as I have seen the play...
BUT never-the-less I loved it and I felt that Johnny Depp and Alan Rickman's performances were superb to say the least

Best musical-turned-movie ever! Even though I was thinking of Harry Potter the whole time I was in the theater, I still luffed it heart The songs are fun too. *sings* Mrs. Mooney has a pie shop! Does a business but I notice something weird. Lately all her neighbors' cats have disappeared! Have to hand it to her -- Wot I calls Enterprise Poppin' pussies into pies! Wouldn't do in my shop! Just the thought of it's enough to make you sick! And I'm tellin' you, them pussycats is quick! whee

Great movie. One of the best Musicals, and Burton film, I've seen in a while.
Random trivia: Stephen Sondheim, the composer, wrote the lyrics for West Side Story.
