Introduction Sir Black Spiral Dancer has bent my will once again. In a puppy-eyed, look-how-cute-I-am, you-know-you-love-me plea, she convinced me to make a Descendants of Darkness RPG for Second Heartbeat. She's been wanting me to make one for quite some time, and I've been beating it off by pointing out the crapload of other rps I am already Story-teller of, or just deeply involved in. Yet her cuteness-attack was relentless and knew no mercy, and so, I conceded to make this rpg for the Guild. Though I am still wondering how many members will join, or even know what DoD is. :3 She did tell me that Shadowraven okayed rping on the guild.
To Use The Devil You Know takes place shortly after the Kyoto Arc. For those of you who have only watched the anime, this is right after the very last episode. For the sake of actually getting people in here, Im not going to apply too much of the actual manga storyline after this. (Besides, it would also result in needing more people to play added characters, or me doing a load of NPCing, and thats a no-thank you) Terazuma and Wakaba, however, are definately available if anyone wants them.
(For those who have read the manga and read the plot of this rp, the case has absolutely NOTHING to do with the Gensou Kai Hen arc, nor will it touch on that. Though it kind of seems like that at first, its not :3.)Navigation:

Thread Mods
The Presidents True Power // xx-Watari_Yutaka-xx Sir Black Spiral Dancer
*Thread mods merely ensure that the rp goes as it is intended, and have no power at all in the Guild itself* Rules Everyone hates rules, but unfortunately in order to keep some semblance of order, they must be implemented. Furthermore, they must be enforced. Do not doubt that these rules will be regularly enforced by the Mods (Myself and SBSD). Its not to be mean, its to ensure the fun is for everyone.
The Common Sense Stuff:
(Though normally these sorts of things are CB only, its always safe to add them wherever you go)
1. Obey all Gaia ToS and Guild ToS 2. Do not spam or bump this thread 3. Do not page stretch or quote a page stretch 4. Do not advertise 5. Keep OOC to a minimum. If your OOC chat starts to overtake your roleplaying posts, use the PM system 6.Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Be courteous and do not flame members, godmode their characters, or tell them that their writing 'sucks.' this is also a no-no, and you will be punished for such conduct.
The RP Stuff
1. Literacy is a must. While I don't expect everyone to write novel length responses, I do expect a little more effort than, "Hello everyone!" Right now the current minimum length is three to six sentences. Its longer, and gives us a little more to work with.
2. All of your posts should be grammatically correct and spell checked. I don't care if you use British spelling or American; I use a bit of both myself. Just make sure that you spell it correctly. l33t and chtspeek will NOT be tolerated. Repeated disregard of these rules will result in a warning and a removal of your character. If English is not your first language or you have trouble spelling, there are spell checkers available. Also, if you inform a crew member of your plight, you can be certain we will grant you some more slack.
3. You will never, I repeat never godmode in this RPG. For those of you who don't know what godmoding is, I shall tell you. In my many years of roleplaying, I have seen godmoding described in two ways:
A.) Having an 'uber' character who is overly powerful, and absolutely rules the combat zone. If your character is a master at every form of combat there has ever been, is the fastest person on the planet, the most intelligent person who ever lived, and their hair is never displaced while performing a triple flip on the tip of a ship's mast and juggling one handed... well, let's just say we need to discuss some things. Not only is this a character who will be a superbly powerful godmoder, they are also what is called a Mary Sue (Or Larry Stu). I will cover that in the next rule. Not even Jaladar and Conrad are this bad :/ [though some people have mentioned they're getting close xP] Every character must have weaknesses. For example, most Pirates have a weakness for rum. Give them rum and many of them are reduced to blubbering piles of mush on your kitchen floor. No one is perfect in real life, and no one is perfect here, either.
B.) Controlling another person's character without their permission is a no-no. This is the other type of godmoding, and is the most common kind. If you absolutely have to control another person's character, make sure that you have talked it over with them, and state so in your post. Otherwise, there will be disciplinary action taken against you. We do not look kindly on godmoders, because it is cheating. This rule is in effect to ensure that people do not kill other characters without the permission of the character's owner. The characters owner gets to decide if the punch / spell connects, and he will decide if it sends him flying across the room, or if it just knocks him down. Then, he has a chance to retaliate in the same manner, allowing you room to decide how you will react in turn. However, NOT EVERY BLOW WILL MISS YOUR CHARACTER. Refer to secion A.
C) Clairvoyance. Now, when you read a persons post, you obviously know what their character is thinking. BUT YOUR CHARACTER DOES NOT. Responding to a characters thoughts is a no-no. Unless your character possesses a mind reading ability, this won't be happening, so watch for this.
4. ROMANCE is permitted. Straight or gay, I don’t care. But remember PG13. It starts getting graphic and its a very big warning. Repeated offenses will have you removed.
5.. Have fun! These rules are very easy to follow, and if everyone reads them carefully and follows them, we should all have a good quality RPG!Backlist:
No One!!!!

The Storyline: Things have been fairly quiet in the JoOhCho since the Kyto event. The Count ad been his usual overly charismatic self while Tsuzuki had still been hospitalized, but Tatsumi had stared that down enough for it no longer to be much of a concern for anyone. Now, Hisoka and Tsuzuki have both been released and have, for the most part, been lounging around the bullpen with very little to do. A few easy cases here and there, some fights with Terazuma, a pissed Tatsumi screaming about damage reports....everything was as perfectly 'normal' as it could ever be in Meifu.
Until Konoe received the fax that came straight from the Hall of Candles. It was an investigation request, and it specifically asked for Watari ad Tatsumi to take the case. Confused, Konoe actually read the full report. Tatsumi hadn't done much fieldwork in the last twenty years, and neither had Watari, save for this recent event. So the request being for them instead of the obvious Tsuzuki and Hisoka roused his interest.
What he found disturbed him. A demon had been living for the past ninety years in the area where Tsuzuki had once lived, and now there was a sudden increase in mysterious cases of longevity within patients at the nearby hospital. Specifically, women and children. The investigation at the hospital was to be taken by Watari and Tatsumi to keep Tsuzuki from learning of the demon near his home village.
Just as he finished soaking this in, a second fax from the Hall of Candles arrived, this one calling for Hisoka and Tsuzuki. An investigation of similar longevities was to be undergone at the hospital in Kamakura, where Hisoka had died. A side note, written in the Count's hand claimed it had been a difficult choice to make, but considering where Tsuzuki's state of mind was after the Kyoto affair, the Count deemed it wise to go about the investigations this way.
The rest will come into play....
