It was several days after first meeting Cha'ari ... and after that first night they had spent together ... that Layilme started to think maybe it had been a mistake to start traveling with the other male.
True, they connected well, and understood each other on a level that was almost intimate but ... she had never thought this might happen.
For yes, she knew this feeling ... remembered it quite well from when it had happened before. Then, she had been with her mate, had known exactly what to do about it. Now, though, now she wasn't at all sure what to do. And it only complicated things that Tapiwa was still with her as well...
In short, this was bad. She felt horrible, in a way, and yet ... not. As if she knew that she should feel bad, and for certain reasons, she did. But not completely ... in a way, she still wanted this ...

Cha'ari had been traveling with Layil for a while now, glad to have found someone to be with. He missed home subconciously, and didn't really know that home was exactly what he was missing, but this female had grown close to him. But lately she had been drifting awkwardly away from him. He didn't quite understand, but he knew something was up.
He looked over his shoulder with concern at the blue lionness trailing close behind him. It was dusk, and the sun cast a long, ominous shadow on her from behind his bulk. His bright crimson eyes almost glowed in the dark, but he was unable to meet hers.

Layilme sighed softly, glancing back to where Tapiwa trailed them both by several yards. She knew that the youngest member of their little group got tired easier than the adults, but she couldn't help ... but feel relieved that her daughter was out of hearing range right at the moment.
Picking up her own speed a bit, she came up beside Ari and offered him a sort of weak smile in return. Almost, she didn't want to tell him ... but ... he had a right to know.

Ari didn't miss Layil's look back at her daughter. Such a sad thing to have her follow along in this search, he thought, wondering if she was looking for the same thing her mother was. He hadn't gotten to know the young lionness very well, but neither did he really know much about Layil, for that matter. But they were friends, and that was good.
Ari grinned at Layil when she came up next to him, hoping to brighten her sad smile. He didn't like the general feeling of negativity on this night, and hoped to see someone happy. But the look on her face showed that something was wrong here, and that did worry Ari. "I know something's up," he said, willing her to answer him.

Layilme opened her mouth to deny it, and then closed it again, ears going back for a moment. He was right... and it would be wrong to hide it. "Uhm... yes... there is something," she said slowly, ducking her head and then glancing up at him from beneath dark fur that fell over her eyes.
"I ... there's something that I need to tell you, Ari," she said then, softly.
(( Even though this is still going... XD;; Did you want to start a birthing RP too? I've been really busy lately, but I should be able to reply a bit more regularly now and even more-so soon~ ))

((Ja, that'd be great! I'm also kinda busy, so I know how you feel. So start one whenever, and PM me a link!))
The big white lion frowned, unable to see Layil's face beneath her fur. He couldn't judge what she would say, but it was something big. Ari glanced back at the younger lionness behind them to make sure she was out of hearing, for security's sake, and asked, "What is it? You can talk to me."
It was difficult for him to understand what was going on, partially due to his still rather simple childish mind. He couldn't possibly guess what the blue lionness was about to say, and it was awkward for him to act so concerned and mature. He continued walking with her, but his tail was twitching uncomfortably. This is important, he guessed.

(( XD Or we could skip it since I fail and you guys are already RPing the kids ... I thought I'd have more time but school ATE me D:
It's ok though ^^ <3 ))
"I ... " Layil started, then glanced up at him, and looked down again. "Ari, I think... no ...I know... I'm pregnant.." she finally said softly.
What would he think..? What kind of lioness was she? She already had a mate, but still, she had...Why? She didn't even know for sure, couldn't answer that question. Not that Ari knew about Mor'faerion, but still ... gods.

Ari's jaw simply dropped in disbelief at Layil's words. "What did you say?" he asked faintly, hoping he had heard her incorrectly.
This couldn't have happened. Sure, they had become a bit close for a little while, to put it simply, but he couldn't have fathered cubs. He was too young for that; this meant responsiblity and patience, neither of which the childish lion had ever had.
A slight panic set in, but he tried very hard to remain calm, if only for Layil's sake.

Almost instantly, Layil felt even worse than before. Ari looked shocked, even scared of the prospect of cubs. She hadn't wanted to tell him, but he had a right to know.
"I ... I'm sorry. I'll ... go if you don't want me to stick around anymore," she murmured, ducking her head to stare at the ground.

"No, no," the white lion pleaded. "Don't leave! I-I'm sorry," he stuttered, trying to close up the awkward silence between. "It's just.... unexpected. That's all." Ari tried to purr, not wanting her to get down; he hated negativity, despite his own hypocritical outlook at the moment.
He leaned over and licked Layil softly between the ears, right behind her tuft, with a shy smile. Inside, his heart was fluttering madly and the thought of what he had done to her, but cubs were always a good thing, no matter the situation.... right?
But still.... I'm the father? He was terrified that he had hurt her, but still smiled weakly.

Layil froze at that, almost as if unsure if he meant it or not. She knew that she was a failure to her mate and her first family ... but ... a part of her couldn't help but be... Well. Not necessarily happy, but she wanted these cubs. In a way, they represented a chance to start over.
"I know... I ... didn't expect it either," she managed, a bit weakly - though she smiled faintly at his efforts to comfort her.

At the slightest hint of a smile on her blue face, Ari's mouth stretched into an encouraging grin. "Well, what would life be without a few surprises, after all?" he asked with a forced laugh, sounding stupid. He wanted to make this sound like good news, despite the unknown factors. Sure, Layil had become Ari's good friend in the short time that they had known each other, but he couldn't quite say that he loved her. Not enough to father her cubs, not that much. What am I going to do? he silently fretted, while trying to maintain his optimistic appearance.

Layil blinked, and then nodded, smile growing a bit. "You're right, I suppose..." she said softly. Of course, Ari didn't really know much about her mate and other family ...
But he didn't really need to know. Likely... by the time that she found any of them, this would be long in the past.

"Of course I'm right!" he said with a smile, nodding encouragingly. "This is a blessing in disguise; I just know it." Ari was still panicing, but he desperately wanted to lighten the atmosphere. He could save panic for when the cubs actually arrived. What's going to happen to me then? But he shoved the thought out of his mind. He took a few deep breaths to calm himself. Right now he needed to be there for her. This is my fault, after all. But the poor animal simply couldn't imagine the responsibility.
In truth, he knew next to nothing of the fact that Layil already had a mate. How was he to know that he was impeding on the other's territory? He might just have to stick around to play "father."

Layilme tilted her head at him, able to almost hear the panic beneath his words now that she was calming down a little bit. That's right. If he didn't know.... was there really any reason to tell him? At least not now...
She could save that revelation for later.
Though how she would explain this to Mori when (if) she found him again... gods, she didn't even want to think about that.
Smiling slightly she eyed him. "So do you feel blessed... Ari?"
