In any HM game, any gender, how do you decide which bachelor or bachelorette to marry?
In HM: AnWL, I based my decision on personality. (chose Gustafa)
HM: FoMT, my choice was influenced mostly by the heart events. (First, I picked Elli because I felt sorry for the way the doctor ignored her affections. The second time I chose Ann because her eating habits and personality shown in the hearts events made me laugh and she seemed the perfect match for farm life.)
So, what are your reasons? Personality, events, appearance, spite, ect?

Lately, I've been picking based on the question: "Who haven't I married yet?" rofl
But normally, I pick on personality/events + looks + challenge (something I've recently come to enjoy). Even if looks are better for one character, if their personality stinks, I won't go for them. ::coughcoughRockcoughcough:: For me, in HM and in RL, Personality always trumps Looks. 3nodding
Sometimes I pick marriage candidates based on how much their events make me laugh.
For example:
Gray's black heart event in Boy & Girl is so incredibly hilarious that I decided I had to marry him. xd

(the harvest goddess will be the most challenging, so I'll probably try marrying her last.) I went for looks the first time I played AnWL... You obviously know who I chose and semi-instantly regretted. Not that Rock's such a bad choice, just the personality annoyed me. After trying to constantly avoid him while playing the game, I ended up restarting and basing my decision prevalently on personality. xP

Personality first, looks second for me. I married Gray in MFoMT because I like his personality, but probably won't marry DescendentGray in HMDS: Cute because he's kind of boring. Instead I married Skye, which was worth it because his red heart event is one of my favorite events out of all of the Harvest Moon games I've played (even if it is a bit creepy).

For Magical Melody, alot of the sounds when they talk were pretty bad...hahaha. But for Another Wonderful Life I chose Marlin because the kid looks cute.
It depends on their personality too though. Like for MM I chose Lyla on my guy char because she's a sweet girl.
I guess theres a lot of things that affect my decision.

For MFOMT, I chose which one I liked the looks and personality of most. Which was Doctor~
As for when I was playing HM 64, I started a bunch of games each with a different wife, just to see what it was like being married to each. xd My first one I chose was Ann because I had the most affection for her at the time... sweatdrop

Whoever's nicest to me. In Cute, though, I saw Skye and couldn't help but choose him. XD In MFoMT, I married Rick. He's the sweetest when you marry him. It seems that every else goes, "Eh, mullet." or "OMG GLASSES HE'S A NERD!!!!!!!!" or they call him girly. =/
