Acquired: Recieved from Twizted and Lat, because they're nice and they rock like that.

Name: Wistaria

Name Meaning: Variant of 'Wisteria', a lovely purple flower.

Color: Dark Violet

Acquired: Ushi made a pair of lionesses which she sold off to whomever rolled a certain number first. I got lucky and got the right number in time for this pretty purple one.

Pride: Cyan Serenity

Likes: Teasing, flowers, swimming, cubs, being with other lions, honesty, playing, the occasional practical joke.

Dislikes: Manipulators, backstabbers, lions who pry where they shouldn't or make assumptions, those without a sense of humor, boredom.

History: While it's unknown as of yet exactly what took place at Wistaria's previous pride, or the cirumstances behind it, this much is known: she was left to her death by one of her closest friends. Convinced she'd been betrayed, the violet lioness escaped by the skin of her teeth and promptly set out on her own, never once looking back. As a result, though her basic personality remains intact, Wistaria is extremely wary of allowing herself to grow too close to any given lion. Trust was given freely once before and taken advantage of; she won't make the same mistake twice. (to be expanded on later)

As time passed, she found herself at the brink of a new pride by the name of Amethyst Waters. Though it was still small, consisting of no more than two brothers seeking a home of their own, it seemed to suit the violet lioness quite well. She came to like and respect both, though she often spent her time wandering from the pride's borders. It was on one of these excursions that she came across one of the single most charming males she'd ever had the chance of encountering: the crown prince of Cyan Serenity, Ferrian. Several meetings and many sweet words later, Wistaria found her affections for the male growing ever-stronger... and when he asked, she readily agreed to become his mate and join him in his home pride.

There was still the matter of speaking to Ajani about leaving his pride, but Wistaria was confident he would be reasonable about it. The king did not dissapoint. He allowed her permission without a moment's hesistation, and they parted on good terms. Now with her love beside her, she made her way towards her new home... only to find a disaster in wait. The queen had been murdered. By whom, no one knew; but the pride itself was in ruins, torn apart at the seams by the tragic loss.

Name Meaning: Japanese for 'flower'.

Color: Light Blue

Acquired: Won from Yakobi's special birthday auction.

Pride:

Likes: Hana's fond of many, many things. Sugar, the color purple, her goggles, seeing people happy and laughing, and nice lions top her list though.

Dislikes: Spiders, reeeeally high heights, seeing others hurt, upset, or crying (especially if she feels like it's her fault), not being able to help, crocodile feet.

History: Once upon a time, Hana lived in a happy little pride. She loved her mother dearly, and she had many wonderful friends. Even one who was nice enough to provide the clothing she wears today! (At least, Hana's pretty sure that's what happened.) However, long story short, she wandered off one day, and got lost. Oh, certainly for the average lioness, it would have been easy enough to find their way back again.

Unfortunately for Hana, her directional skills are... lacking, let's just say. She never did manage to find her way back again. So since then, she's decided to roll with the punches and take up a life all her own!

Name Meaning: Named for the mythological Greek goddess of the hunt, and the guardian cat of the Sailor Moon mythos.

Acquired: Won from Angel Yuna-chan's Sailor Moon Guardian Cat auction.

Pride: Moonlight Destiny

Likes: Goofing off, the moon (particularly when it's full), fish, being the hero, having his ego stroked now and then.

Dislikes: Being teased, being as clumsy as he is, eclipses, dreary days.

History: As of yet unknown; though despite what he may say, the moon does seem to play a role in Artemis' past...

Name: Aislinn

Name Meaning: Gaelic for 'inspiration'.

Color: Indigo

Acquired: Bought from Lat. Much luff for the Lat. <3

Likes: Naps (in moderation), birds, intelligence, solitude (even if she is known to enjoy some company), sunshine.

Dislikes: Stupidity, laziness (particularly on the part of males), hyenas, lions who underestimate her, making herself look like a fool, mass egotists.

History: Aislinn originally came from a pride where the king was little more than an arrogant, lazy fool who did nothing for the other's benefit. He flaunted his power, treating his pride members more like servants than anything else, and had little to no respect for any given one of them. Frustrated both by him, and the fact that no one was doing anything about it, the kitten struck out on her own. If that was what a pride was like, then she wanted no part of it.

Now an adult, Aislinn had firmly established her ability to live and thrive all on her own. Though she does crave for company now and then, she has no intention of settling into a pride and having it turn out like her former home.

Name: Tipu Aohd

Name Meaning: 'Tipu' is Hindu for 'tiger', while 'Aodh' is the modern form of an older Gaelic name meaning 'fire'.
Color: Dark Orange

Acquired: Bought from the 1st anniversary flat.

History: Tipu was born to a happy young couple, the new king and queen of a far-off pride, as the sole male cub in a litter of four. When he was old enough, it was decided he would be passed along to the pride's advisor to be groomed for the day he would inherit the throne. The advisor, as it turned out, was none other than Tipu's own grandfather; a rough lion, but Tipu's father respected him deeply and trusted his judgement. What better paws to place his precious son in than those that raised him?

So the young cub began his lessons, learning what should be expected of any prince. It wasn't an easy process. Tipu was to begin with an unruly, playful little kitten, and his grandfather was far from the world's most patient lion. Not to mention he was one tough teacher; his standards on how Tipu should act were extremely rigid. But the elder's persistance eventually paid off, and the firey little cub began acting in a way he saw as truly befitting a royal.

His grandfather took special pains to hammer one lesson in particular into the kitten's mind, a lesson he found himself wishing time and time again he'd taken the time to teach his own son: 'As a king, do not allow yourself to be blinded by the feelings of others.' He taught Tipu to keep a cold front where other lions were concerned; to be curteous as expected, but to keep a wall between himself and others at all times. Do not make friends, do not care about others. Do what was needed, and nothing beyond that. Only then could he be a true, fair king.

That was a lesson he only truly took to heart when his father, and the pride as a whole, met their end at the claws of what was thought to be their oldest and truest allies. Few survivors remained, among them Tipu and his grandfather. 'You see, Aodh? It was his foolish compassion for them that led to our destruction. Now you are a prince without a pride, all because your father allowed feelings to blind him. Do not make the same mistake as he.' Those were the elder's words to the kitten after the massacre. Not a tear was shed by either one.

A short time afterwards, his grandfather passed away, and Tipu found himself scrounging up a living as a loner. It was then that he found himself at the fringes of Heliopolis...

He found his home there, and grew up fully respecting King Re and Queen Analae. But he still strove hard as always to live up to his grandfather's expectations of how a king should rightly behave, whether or not he was to actually become one someday.

Name: Galatea (AKA: Fae)

Name Meaning: Taken from Roman mythology, she is named for the statue a great sculpter (Pygmalion) created, bought to life through his prayers to the goddess Venus after he fell in love with his creation.

Color: Gold

Acquired: Fanta custom won via randomization on page 300 in the 1st Anniversary thread. <3

Pride: Le Roi de Sorrow

Likes: Heights, Niobe, peace, water, flowers, stars.

Dislikes: Anger, violence, loud noises, thunder, rough housing.

History: Galatea was born into what had once been a warm pride, what should have been loving, doting parents. But by then, her father's growing insanity had already begun to take its toll. Their family was alone, and Atrum was only getting worse. The outbursts grew worse, and he began to lash out at both Galatea and her mother. Though she never stopped loving him, she quickly grew to fear her father's wrath. When, one day, a simple misplaced word from the kitten accidentally bought an attack on her mother, she became too afraid to speak, even make a sound for fear of hurting her (or anyone else) again.

It came to the point where her mother, in what was truly her last stand, secretly drove Galatea from the pride. Inept, sheltered, terrified of everything from the grasses to her own shadow, she may well have died out there if she hadn't stumbled across the lands of Le Roi de Sorrow and into Niobe's caring paws. Unable to speak her own name, she was dubbed 'Fae', and with her new name began her new life.

She's since grown into a beautiful lioness under the pride's care. Though she still struggles to find her place in the world, and her pride, she's come a long way from that shaking little bundle of fur in the grass.

Name Meaning: A name of Arabic origin, meaning 'city of the moon'.

Color: Dark Blue

Acquired: Won through the Pride Lands 1st Anniversary Paid Raffle.

History: The result of a forced mating, Jericho didn't have a clue when he was born why the other lions of his pride hated him as much as they did. They called him the spawn of a demon -- but Blackjack, his dear father, said they were simply jealous. He was the only one that stood by him through it all, and Jericho loved him to pieces. That is, until he overheard Blackjack and the pride's elders debating over whether or not he should be allowed to continue in the pride. He learned the truth of his birth, how his mother had died to give him life, and how foul his real father was. Having Blackjack falter in his moment of weakness was enough to drive the kit away without any prompting. No one followed.

Alone, he shoved his hurt aside in favor of pride; Blackjack was simply jealous, just like everyone else. That's all there was to it. He found himself a new home in Dawn's First Light, at least until the pride dissolved... and in that time he met his most hated enemy in Keely. That is, until they grew up and his greatest hate became his greatest love. They didn't join a new pride, settling together in a life of wandering and starting a beautiful little family of their own.

But between Blackjack's reappearance shaking the walls Jericho had built so strongly around himself and the disappearance of his daughter, when he went off in search of her, his and Keely's relationship didn't survive the strain of his own vanishing act. Though he found London again, briefly, she slipped away into her own life. Once again, Jericho found himself alone. Until one moonlit night, he stumbled across something - someone - that should have never been a part of this world...

Name Meaning: A card game.

Dislikes: Cubs, restrictions, clingy lions, violence, rainy days -- so depressing.

History: Most of Blackjack's life is like Blackjack himself, an enigma waiting to be unraveled. What is known is that once, for the first time in his life, he gave his heart away. True, he never gave up his flirtatious ways, even then. But he had a home to come back to, a lady waiting in the wings whom could truly call him her own. They were happy together, truly, and Blackjack found himself willing to settle down. Maybe even entertain thoughts of starting a family.

Then disaster struck. None of the lions of the pride, isolated, had encountered a lunar lion before. And after Atrum struck, none of them ever wanted to lay eyes upon one again. So the creature was simply labeled 'demon'. He attacked Blackjack's love one night while she hunted, forcing himself upon her. Blackjack flew to her aid at her cries, but before more help could arrive to drive the beast off, the struggle left its mark upon him as well. His mate was severely injured and, upon birthing one living cub, she died.

So the master of the games of the heart found his own broken. In spite of the pride's wishes, he took in the cub, Jericho, and cared for him the best he could. But even if he cared for Jericho as though he were his own, he was never given a real chance to heal. Every time he so much glanced at the cub, all he could see were his lost mate and the monster that had stolen his eye.

The elders eventually cornered him to get rid of Jericho, pouring salt into every open wound in his chest to make him comply. In a moment of weakness, he faltered, wondering if it really had been such a good idea to take him in. It was then that they realized Jericho had been listened, and when he ran off, they kept Blackjack from following. "It's better this way, " they said. He almost wished he could have believed them.

He didn't stay on the pride long after that. Really, he'd only stayed for Jericho's benefit; the life he lived wasn't meant for a cub. With nothing holding him there, he wandered the lands anew, throwing himself headfirst back into the game that he'd lost so miserably.

Name: Kiyoi

Name Meaning: Japanese for 'noble' or 'pure'.

Color: Dark Red

Acquired: An all-male flat, the very first run by Doodle.

Pride: Dragon Lands

History: Kiyoi was born to a small (hardly more than his own family and a few stragglers), close-knit pride. So small that their neighboring pride got the idea in their heads to try and claim the lands for themselves so they could expand their own territory. In the end, the rest of the pride had been obliviated; Kiyoi was alone. He grieved for a time, feeling immensly guilty for being unable to help his family fend off the invaders. Would things have been different if he'd only been a little older, a little stronger?

It was from that guilt that his resolve was forged; he wouldn't run and hide like a coward the next time. Kiyoi would train to become a warrior, same as those noble heroes in the stories his mother used to tell, and keep everyone safe.

Name Meaning: Does this name really need an explanation? XD He just struck me as citrus-y, and for some reason, that was the name that stuck in my mind and wouldn't go away. <3
