It had been quite a fight this morning, getting rid of Altair for the day. Finally, she'd managed to convince the alicorn that he'd be shot by the security if he tried to sneak into where she was going. Of course the colt didn't fancy hot metal in his perfect flank and had, finally, relented on the condition that Khalindra use their mental link if anything happened.
Happy to get away from the horse for the time being, Khali had readily agreed, gotten dressed, and promptly informed her father that she was going out. To her surprise, her Author didn't protest, gave her all the money he had - which was about five dollars - and told her to be careful. Something had to be in the water as she was, most definitely, expecting an argument.
But now the blond, dressed in a long pale blue skirt and a white and silver embroidered peasant top with her hair flowing freely down to her mid back, stood inside the planetarium and was trying to see if there was an admittance fee. Hopefully, if there was, it wasn't more than the money in her pocket.
After being told that there wasn't, the female made her way toward the nearest dome, determined to see if the constellations she saw in her dreams were displayed here.
She wanted answers. But what was different about that?

"You've got to do something to broaden your horizons!"
"Broaden.. what are you talking about?!"
"You've been home too long! Get out there already!"
It was true that Adonis had been spending a bit too much time at home since he had grown. Perhaps the growing amount of mirrors in his room were to blame; nonetheless, when his father had argued with him to go out and see something interesting, he had been reluctant. Nio had convinced him to go, however, once he'd mentioned what a planetarium was and what he could see there. It did sound wonderful, after all, and Adonis was always up for seeing beautiful sights.
Therefore when Frey landed on the steps of the planetarium, Adonis was almost immediately disappointed. From the outside, the building looked decidedly.. plain. He could only hope that inside was a different story.
He dismounted and patted his pegasi, who turned towards the greens nearby to graze there and wait for his friend. Donny pulled his wings up tight to keep them from brushing against anyone else, since the place looked rather busy. He walked in and took a critical look around.
Several domes loomed ahead, and he looked towards the larger one.
"This better be something special." He announced to no one in particular, though a little girl nearby looked up at him when he spoke, and scrunged her face in a smile. She lifted her arms up at him, but before he could notice it, her mother had scooped her up into her arms and whisked her away.
Oblivious, he headed into the dome. He blinked in the darkness, waiting for his eyes to adjust. There were people inside, but it was too dark to see any of them well yet.

Khali was not seeing what she wanted to see from where she was standing and it was annoying the Tale. With a sigh, the blond started moving toward another section of the dome - luckily there wasn't too many people. Apparently, it wasn't the most popular place in the world. Still, she did have to weave her way through a few groups of people before getting to where she wanted to go. Thankfully, she had excellent night vision and she didn't bump into anyone.
She was about to get to where she was trying to go when her silver eyes locked onto a familiar person. He was bigger, he was prettier, but there was no other person that could have those stars, that hair - and the minute she saw the blue star now floating around the boy's wrist she knew. "Adonis?"
Softly, as not to break the atmosphere for everything, but loud enough for the other Tale to hear.

There were tiers of seats in the way of the ceiling, Donny had realized after a moment, and he had taken a few steps in to get a better view of what was hidden behind their darkness. The sudden image of an open sky filled with stars made his eyes widen in surprise. Wasn't he inside a small building dome.. thing..? How was this possible?
"Adonis?"
His name whispered from the stars, and he eyed them speculatively. It was only a moment later when he realized that the voice had not come from the stars, but from behind him. He turned and looked; no one. With a blink of confusion he began to turn back, when a flash of gold caught his eye and he looked down. There he saw a familiar sight that had him smiling in a moment, and he put his hand on Khali's shoulder.
"Khali, what a nice surprise."
And further to his surprise, as his eyes started to adjust he realized she was no longer a little child. "You've grown, you look very pretty!"

"The stars are beautiful, aren't they?" Khalindra said, tilting her head upward toward the dome where the stars were projected in a startling likeness to the actual night sky. It was amazing...and the star in Khalindra made her beam in pride.
The mention of her growth sent a splitting smile across her face, "You have too," she commented, reaching up and patting the hand on her shoulder lightly, "And the same could be said for you. Thank you."
It was a pleasant surprise, indeed - she'd been expecting quiet contemplation in the solitude of her mind and had instead found the boy she'd pondered the reason of stars in the first place with.
"You're more shiny." There, there was a glimmer of the giddy little child she'd been last time.

As always, recognition of the inevitable loveliness that Adonis knew himself to be was both welcome and expected. He smiled down at her, that charming, knowing smile, and turned his hand palm up, wrapping around hers.
"Yes." He responded simply to her last comment, and then turned back towards the stars. His hand tugged against hers as he headed in. "So, what brings you here? Have you been here before?" He questioned quietly as he led her further inward, looking for wherever it was they were supposed to sit or stand for the best view.

"Seeking answers from the stars seems to be somewhat of a habit for me," the Tale answered, a bit cryptically, taking a seat in the center of the room (or as close to the center as one could get) and leaned back in the chair, hand removing itself from Adonis', "Though they've been silent to me, as of yet."
She'd found that she really didn't like silence a whole lot when she was seeking answers. Be it from a celestial body or from a physical one refusing to respond to her questions.
"What about you?"

Adonis could relate to searching for answers in the silent twinkling of the stars. It was, after all, everything that made him. It was even the very words that had spawned him, though he didn't know that. He sat down next to Khali and laid his head back on the seat, staring up at the view above.
"I don't know. I've been home too much. I basically got kicked out for a while. It's just.. I've been having so many strange dreams lately, and they all feel so real. They feel as though they're trying to tell me something. Something I'm supposed to do."
He laughed emptily and put his hand on one eye, looking up with the other.
"There's even one where I-"
A flood of memories came rushing back, of dreams he hadn't remembered until that moment, and he turned his head and looked at Khali. His night vision had adjusted enough that he could see her features clearly, and his eyes went wide. He remembered her. He remembered her. At least he was relatively sure he did. She was in that dream.
Despite how very wrong it seemed.
"Khali," He whispered hoarsely. "I think my dreams are telling me that we're supposed to, uh.." Wait, no, stop and think about this for a second Adonis. Dreams are dreams, and no matter how strong they might be, they can't make you do something morally questionable unless you actually wanted it.
Grasping to that knowledge with a desperate grip, he lay his head back down and thought quickly. ".. actually, I can't remember.. nevermind."
He was pretty sure he was sweating, and despite the fact that his body position looked relaxed, every muscle was tensed. This was worrisome, to say the least.

"Dreams have a tendency to do that, Adonis," Khalindra reassured him, reaching out toward the projected night sky to trace her fingers over the stars, an unseen constellation that she vividly remembered, yet at the same time the memories faded as soon as they showed themselves. It frustrated the girl to no end.
The sudden change in atmosphere dragged silver eyes away from the display, gold-covered head turning to look at the young man beside her, brows furrowing, "What's wrong, Adonis?" the words generally didn't make much sense to the Tale, and the feeling she read from him was something she couldn't much explain.
"If it has something to do with dreams, I can help. Most of the time, I've found, dreams aren't just dreams. They are, indeed, a way for communication. Be it your subconscious or something else."
Something else, of course, being the unnerving part. Her dreams she remembered far too well.
She'd yet to find answers.
Her friends sudden change in attitude worried her, though, and she'd offer her help as well as she could.

"Noo no nono no no. No." This last no was emphatic, while the first few were a little more desperate. "Not something to talk about."
He closed both eyes and squinted them hard, trying to forget the images that had shown up in his mind. Instead he thought of pretty things, like himself. That thought, however, only led to himself in those dreams, and started the train of thought all over again. He opened his eyes quickly and focused on a single star.
Well, this was awkward!
"I mean, dreams can sometimes just be dreams, right? They don't always have to indicate something." He looked over at Khali as he said this, but quickly looked away, blushing. Awkwaaaaard.

"No, they don't always mean something," the Tale soothed, tilting her head to the side to study the blond beside her. He was acting very odd, all the sudden, and she didn't like it. "Am I making you nervous, somehow?"
How the hell would she be doing that?
Sigh.
"Well, no matter. We can talk about something else, if you want." Her eyes drifted back up to the stars, "Do you see that star, there? The one that looks like it has a slight blue-green hint to it, even from all the way down here?" Her finger moved to hover over it, though it was difficult to point to something so far away so someone else could see it. "I think that's my home."
Her eyes kept drifting to that star. Even under the real night sky.

Donny was only too happy to change the subject, and when he looked up to the stars, he searched with vigor for the one she was pointing out. It took quite some time, but eventually he thought he had found it. "Oh, there.. I think I see it!" He looked down at the girl, this time with curiosity masking his previous embarrasment.
"Your home? What do you mean?"
He looked back up, this time at all the stars. Sure, there were probably other worlds up there. It was hard, however, to think that perhaps one of his friends were not from this one.

"It feels...I've seen it before. In my dreams." Back to the subject of dreams, were they? "The constellations, they are different than the ones that I've read in books. The ones I remember. That one...That one just makes me feel strange. Like I always need to look for it, even in the daylight."
Khalindra made a face, though it was difficult to see in nothing but the starlight and the newly grown Tale sighed, shifting backward in her seat. The trip had brought her nothing of clarity, though she had bumped into an old friend and that alone made it worth it.
"Do you ever feel like you don't belong?"

Donny tried to wrap his mind around what Khali was saying. It was difficult, however. It seemed that despite how much the two may have physically had in common, there was much to them that was different.
He smiled down at Donny, almost sadly, and shook his head. To feel like he didn't belong? That would be inconceivable. Donny belonged everywhere. "No, not really." He answered simply, and patted her head softly.
"The trick is," he continued as he looked around to survey the others in the room "to make whatever place you are at, your home."
A very pretty girl had been writing notes in the dark, and rubbed her eyes as they ached in strain. One eye opened to catch Donny looking at her, and she smiled. Donny winked in response, and returned to gazing up contentedly.
"Besides, you always have a place to belong with us Tales. Right?" Donny took Khali's hand and squeezed it, then smiled at her.

Those words actually struck something in Khalindra. Make wherever it was you were home. They were familiar, very familiar, and a peculiar look came over the gypsy's face. "You're right," the Tale murmured softly, staring up at the sky with a perplexed look on her face, "Someone said that before. But I only just remembered it because you said it."
And that, somehow, made it special. Because it was said by a friend and not by some phantom memory that she couldn't place.
"And I do always have a place among the Tales, you're right about that too." Khalindra squeezed Donny's hand in return and gave a soft sigh, turning her head back to look at him and tearing it away from the galaxy above.
"You still have my star," she noted casually, looking at his wrist, "I'm glad."
