I've been stressing for the past few years with my hair. My hair is wavy and dry. It used to be up to my buttocks and actually looked quite nice (specially when dancing wink ) when I straightened it, but all the damage was adding up, so I decided to cut it to my shoulder. My hair is still pretty bad. Whenever I let it air dry, the top is perfectly fine and straight, but the bottom becomes frizzy. I want to find a way to get smooth, frizz-free hair. Are there any hair care products that have given you good results? Any advice for me?

there's this hair serum called 'frizzez' i think its spelled right. it works pretty well for my mom

another product is Sunsilk anti-poof shampoo and conditioner. that worked for me also.

don't wash your hair every day, let some of the natural oils come out once in a while.

i perfer 'Super Skinny' i forgot who made it but when i remember i'll tell.

Oooh I've never heard of those. I don't wash my hair every day, never have. I wash it like every 5 days to a week (I'm lazy Dx). I'll see if I find those products around here.

My hair is long, straight, thin, and fine. I hate it. rofl

I want my hair to have a curl to it... or some kind of wave, but my hair just doesn't take perms. My hair is almost to the bottom of my back, and I let it air dry after washing. If I scrunch it with gel or mouse, I can get it to wave a little, but it gets matted and looks bad, so if I then brush it out, the waves goes. *sigh*

Want to trade?? LOL

RaqsSharki:
paul mitchell creates super skinny hair serum. you may want to only get it at a professional hair salon

amethyst:
the same advise i gave to raqs. sunsilk have a set for every kind of hair. i think they have anti-flat. some shampoo sets have a special formula to create a chic look

I have tried Paul Mitchell; my mom uses it for her hair. I tried it on mine but it leaves it frizzy (just like all the other products that I've tried).

yes, but this one is oil. ment for friz.

you see, oil added to your hair makes less friz. when you wash your hair the oils lift and the poof is back.

Paul Mitchell's Super Skinny is great. i've had it, and loved it. it may work for you

Frizz-eeze works for my sister. Or Aussie is a nice moisturizing brand. But also, when you straighten or use any heat styling tools on your hair, try using a heat-protection lotion. It'll help your hair from getting damaged. I use Chi silk infusion, but that's expensive stuff. ($14 for 2 oz. .... But it works.)

Got 2B also has a heat styling lotion, (on sale at Walgreens this week, buy one get one free) and so does L'Oreal, I believe.

These all can be found at Walgreens or any drug store... but I would suggest getting the Chi, if you try it, at a Salon. Sometimes they have really good deals. (I got a 20 oz. bottle of Chi Silk for $30. The silk can also be used for hand moisturizer and to shave your legs. rofl But you only need about the size of a quarter to work into your hair before using a heat styler.)

Sorry if that was too much info for ya... But I hope you find something that works. (I'm a beauty advisor at Walgreens. *^.^*)

my mom uses that stuff.

for my senior portriats, she damped my hair really good first, then rubbed in paul mitchell's super skinny, really really well towards the scalp and then rubbed in the Chi Silk and let it dry in really really well. She blow dried it again to a nice dry and used her Chi iorn to straighten my hair. it worked so well!

*_* Lovely!

There's definitely one thing I've noticed about the Chi, and that's that it just makes heat styled hair look smoother, shinier, healthier.

My poor hair has undergone a strict regimine of styling products since I was an idiot and tried to dye it one month too early after my last color. (My hair decided to frizz up and break off. ;-; ) (I've been using Chi Silk, organic shampoo and conditioner, Redken anti-snap, paul mitchell or pureology hairspray.. D: )

Step #1: Never, EVER dye your hair with chemicals. Don't let the salons talk you into this "fabulous hair color that would be so cool on you...". my mother dyed her hair both in salons and at home for decades and it always looked frizzy no matter how expensive the haircare products. Another friend with very thin hair nearly lost what little she had getting it red enough for her. And my sister with beautiful wavy curls gets constantly talked into getting hair color (she really doesn't need it) or streaks and it always damages her hair.

As soon as my mom let her dye grow out, she discovered she had more hair and that it wasn't old age making her hair fall out. DUH, I've only been telling her the hair dye was bad news for 30 years! rofl

I dye my hair but with Surya Henna and unless you do it at home, you will be hard pressed to find a professional to do it for you, I got lucky and have a gal who has been doing my henna for 12 years. Why are professionals so reluctant to use it? It takes a little longer and is a bit messy but mostly they've been brain-washed into thinking it's bad for your hair. (No, seriously. When I got my nail tech license, I watched and listened to the bullsh--!) Sure you can't get a perm with it but the color and condition results are breathtaking! When my sister and friend get their hair hennaed (yup, by me) they are crazy over the results. My sister's curly hair actually behaves! There's a reason the women in the middle east have been using it for thousands of years! it's a natural conditioner.

Another consideration, at least in my case, is vitamins. If I don't get my Super Omega 3-6-9, my skin and hair suffer. I am 45 after all, and the hormones do wreak havoc on hair skin and nails.

I had professional a few times and what seems to work for me is cutting the dead ends and doing hair masks and using color treated shampoo (biologe)

when i went to sally's, i got the clariol something like that. my hair felt all streaky and such!

but then i got my hair layered and it felt healthy and new.

people called my hair the 'mirecle hair' because i take good care of it.

maybe what also helps is that i don't use the blow dried or hot iron that often.

for a performance one every two months or so.

Lady- that picture of you is awesome! You're so pretty. biggrin

When my hair was shorter, I used to use this stuff you sprayed in that made your hair appear thicker. It worked a little bit, but it also made my hair feel sticky, so I stopped using it. I've been playing around with mouse, gel, and foam rollers the past few days... I love the look I'm getting... nice and curly!

While your hair's damp, /Preferably after a shower/ put moose in your hair.

From root to tip but not too much your hair will look dirty.

Then blow dry you hair on HOT while your hair is flipped upsed down. Consentrate on the roots for more volume.
Also use a huge barrel brush.

The heat makes your hair expand making it seem thicker and more voluptious.

It's not the healthiest way to treat your hair but if you want it for a special occasion once in a while you'll be alright.

@ amethystrain24 - Up until recently (I dreaded my hair), my hair was also fine and straight. To get it to curl, I'd wash my hair the night before and put it in rag curls the night before. Then when I woke up in the morning, I'd take out the rags and my hair would be in super tight sausage curls that would relax as the day wore on. It's really nice for you hair, because it doesn't require any product, blow drying, or heat. I've done this for dancing at a Ren Faire and the curl stayed all weekend - though I brushed them out on Saturday morning, so I had super thick-looking, wavy hair. I looked a lot more exotic than I usually do, because it gave my hair a lot of body and texture.
