There has been an increase of politics in metal lately. From Megadeth's newest album, United Abominations, to Ozzy's Black Rain. Ozzy sings about mostly money in his, while Dave Mustain (Megadeth) sings about everything from the war, poverty, the UN, and the eventual fall of america.

My problem with most political songs is that they just sound so cheesy and forced most of the time (and, in System Of A Down's case, just plain stupid). There are only a few really good political songwriters out there, and #1 always has been and always will be Neil Young in my opinion.

I hate politics in music. I listen to music for the art, not their opinion.

Yeah, my biggest problem with most bands who start to get political is that they interrupt a concert to complain about how terrible the president is or whatever. I want good music with a deep meaning. None of this America is crap music. It is good that you have a political opinion, but debate it somewhere else besides your music. I stopped listening to three bands because they got too political. Just stay with life meanings and stay away from politics with music.

Even if I agree with you, that still doesn't mean I want to hear it.

I think it depends on the band. Most mainstream bands, yes that totally holds true. But I know Rise Against got where they are because of politically fueled music so it would make sense for them to talk about politics in the middle of a show.
