User ImageKialio was doing what he could almost always be found doing, which was sitting on his favorite rock, the one that jutted up into the sky with a huge smooth surface that he spread out on and sunbathed in. He loved the night, and usually slept on the rock during the day. He was there now, his striking eyes closed and his legs crossed over one another.

Lio was in that strange gray place between sleeping and waking, his consciousness hovering on the line between his surroundings and his imagination. His imagination won and he slipped into dreams, as a butterfly landed on his nose unnoticed.

Her slender white form crossed the land quietly, really in a land of gold and bronze she stood out like a sore thumb, she didn't seem to mind. The sunlight danced over her pale fur reflecting from the white and making it shimmer with health. Since her return to the pridelands, Radi had once again become a picture of health though something haunted those watery green eyes she smiled alot.

Today she had asked her mother to watch Ghilt for the day, a day with his grandmother she felt would do him good. It also meant she could go out in search of her siblings and the few friends she had made before her time away from the land she called home.

The sight of the bright blue male then made her stop and tilt ehr head, she had never seen someone so brightly coloured in her whole life. She giggled in a rather girly manner as the butterfly landed upon his nose. "I guess she thinks you are a flower hmm?" She whispers, approaching cautiously, ust incase she was interupting something important.

Kialio was unaware of the butterfly that had made a perch of his nose, his mind elsewhere. He drifted out of sleep slowly, his ears twitching. His orange eyes opened slowly, and he blinked a few times, staring at the butterfly with a confused look on his face. He jerked up, letting out a gasp, and the frightened butterfly flapped its large wings and flew off.

Lio shook his head, glad no one had seen his fright at a bug. But then his eyes landed on the white and black lioness that was watching him, and he felt his cheeks grow hot. She must have seen that, how embarrassing! He sighed, but he smiled in her direction, not wanting to be rude at all. "Good morning ma'am." He said in his slightly high-pitched voice. Females didn't make him feel quite as awkward as they used to, but he still felt nervous as she approached.

Radi couldn't help but laugh lightly, though it wasn't a mocking laugh it was quiet, tinkly, cheery. "Oh please, don't call me ma'am I'm not old enough to be a ma'am" She smiled sitting before the male with her ears flattened lightly against her head. "I suppose that butterfly didn't think you were a lion. I was quite surprised my self, your colour it's so bright."

She looked away shly for a moment. She couldn't remember the last time she had come out and spoken to a complete stranger so bluntly. "I'm sorry I hope I didn't offend you." She whispers to her paws, her pale green eyes fixed upon her dark marked toes.

Lio smiled, pleasantly surprised at how shy she was. His former embarrassment at the butterfly sitting on him was gone, and he admired the lioness's markings for the first time. How interesting, she reminded him of lightning on a warm summers night. It made his smile grow a little more.

"Oh I didn't mean to make you feel old, I apologize." He said, now it was his turn to be embarrassed. "But yes, most people are a little surprised by my coat. I use to dream of having lovely markings, like your own perhaps, but I finally realized that my lack of them was what made me who I am." His smile softened and he glanced away, but quickly brought his eyes back up to her with a surprised look.

"Oh my manners have left me, I am Kialio. It's a pleasure to meet you, ...?"

The pale lioness laughed lightly, a sort of soft tinkling sound almost like rain upon the dry grass. She lifted her pale eyed gaze once again smiling as he watched her. "I think it's a very interesting colour, you certainly stand out." She smiled, her gaze nothing if not full of gentle praise and perhaps even a touch admireing. She truely had nevers een anyone so brightly coloured as hima nd she couldn't help but look on in an almost dazed manner.

"Oh!" She flushed a little as he called her markings lovely and that pale coat of hers showed the slight glow of blush on her cheeks. She felt most flustered by his kind, gentle words of praise. "I'm nothing special. I look very much like the rest of my family." She paused and looked up, "I'm nothing special, i wish I was unique, but my coat is very like alot of others." She whispers shyly her gaze turning back to her paws once again,s he didn't want to stare for too long,s he would give him a complex she was sure!

"I'm Radi, for obvious reasons." She laughed a little, lifting a paw to point at the lightning mark on her cheek, for that wafter all was what her name meant quite literally.

Lio smiled at her again, and he hopped down from the tall rock gracefully. He landed with a heavy thud, causing some dry dirt to fly up around him. It settled back down again upon the grass softly, and he shook himself off before walking closer to her. He thought it rude to be so high above someone you're speaking with, and he felt much more comfortable face-to-face with the lovely lioness.

He looked at the marking on her cheek, and smiled again at her, nodding. "Oh yes, that's quite distinctively a lightning bolt." He said, looking back to her eyes. He found her eyes the most stunning part of her; although her coat was interesting, her emerald eyes entranced him. He found himself unable to look away.

"Oh don't say you're not special." He said, a small frown crossing his lips. "Everyone's special in their own way. And you must have a very interesting family, if you all have those markings." He was reminded of his own siblings, he used to be rather jealous of some of them, with their bright colors and swirling markings. But he accepted everything for what it was, and he didn't mind when others stared at him anymore.

"But I ramble. It's a pleasure to meet you, Radi." He said, bowing low to the older lioness.

The older lioness' tail flickered a little nervously at his words. He was such a nice male, she had never really been spoken to in such a way. She felt so plain compared to most, her pale coat blank in comparison to many pridelanders whom ranged through all the colours of every spectrum imaginable.

Her glassy green eyes gazed back shyly, a shiver ran down her pale form and she let a tinkly giggle roll off her lips, she was young and trouble free again. It felt good.

"Thankyou for your kindness." She puurrs her ears flattening softly against her head, she felt ever so bashful before this male, he was such a striking, handsome looking beast and yet he spoke to her like she was something wonderful, something truely special, it made her heart beat that little bit faster.

"It's very nice to meet you too." She whispers lifting her pale eyed gaze once again. "Very nice indeed."

Lio smiled a charming, half-smile, his eyes glancing to her ears. She was so bashful, so unlike the females he had met in his time in the prideland, though there hadn't been all too many he had encountered. Her shy way intrigued him.

"The pleasure's all mine. And my kindness is but honesty." He said with a nod, smiling once more. He found himself once again lost in her eyes when they me his, and for a few moments he just sat there, gazing into those emerald pools.

He blinked, shaking his head a bit, another, slightly ashamed half smile on his lips. He cleared his throat, "So, have you lived here in the pridelands your whole life?" He asked, knwoing that a lot of the lions there had been rogues at some point, or had traveled away and then come back. He for one had never had wanderlust, though his mind was a different story. His mind wandered to the far reaches of his imagination, and that was enough adventure for him.

Radi nodded a little dazedly, she couldn't help but feel shy around the large lightning blue male. He was handsome and sweet natured and he spoke to kindly of her. Noone had ever really spoken so kindly of her.

"Oh Yes, I was born and raised here by my mother." She paused for a moment a slow tired breath escaping her lips. "I did spend a little time away...But I don't like o talk about it." A shiver ran down her spine hten her pale fur standing on end down her neck though it quickly settled.

"The pridelands are my home." She smiled. "I would never wish to leave them again." Her pale eyed gaze smiled up at the large male then. "And you? Were you born and raised here? I'm sure you must have been, everyone is so kind in the pridelands, though you, well you are the kindest I have met in a long time." A puurr echoed off her lips at her words, she truely had never been so suavely spoken to by anyone, even he who was the father of her only child.

Lio watched her as she spoke, his eyes darting back and forth between hers. He wondered briefly what had happened to her in her time away from the pride lands, that would make her fur stand on end so. He had noticed it, but he was glad she changed the subject. He wouldn't push her for any information on it.

"Oh, yes I was raised here. I've never left." He smiled a little, "I never had the urge to leave, suppose wanderlust just isn't in my genes." He said with a slight chuckle. "I don't see how anywhere else could be better than here, and I certainly don't want to go somewhere worse, so I'm going to stay put." His smile grew bigger.

"Where did you go when you left, if I may be so brash as to inquire?"

Radi smiled a little, the question wasn't exactly unusual for her to hear. Considering how shy and quiet spoken she had always been, it hadn't been in her nature to leave, it was promises that had pulled her from the lands she loved.

"I went in search of my sister, a large male came and told me he would help me. He just lead me to a land of slaves and flames." She swallowed hard her soft, emerald green eyes looking up in to those rose coloured orbs.

"It took me a long time to come home again, or it felt like a long time." She looked away for a moment, her gaze becoming distant. "I would never leave again, it's so, so very frightening out there." She whispers returning her gaze to the male plasidly.

Lio had an overwhelming urge to comfort her, nuzzle her close and protect her. He pushed the urge away, but it lingered in his bones. "That's terrible." He said softly, watching her with sorrowful eyes.

"It can't be all bad out there." He said with a crooked smile, trying to cheer her up. "And even if it is, we have our own slice of heaven here, eh?" He said, motioning around. "And at night, when the stars shine brilliantly down, you can travel into their depths and never need to wander from here." His eyes met hers again, full of kindness and understanding. "So if you ever get the wanderlust, just look to the stars. They can take you on journey's you could never experience any other way."

Radi smiled at the young male her pale, watery green eyes gazing up at the big blue lion. She couldn't help but giggle a little, his words, were just so lovely. "I wouldn't want to leave again, even to travel to the stars, this place, this place is a heaven as you say, this place of beauty and peace. There os nothing more in the whole world that I could want than to spend th rest of my days in this peaceful haven."

She smiles weakly. "If I could fight I would fight to stay here, The world beyond these borders is something I don't wish to know about." She paused for a moment looking embarressed. "I'm sorry I suppose these ideals are a little raw, I know the whole world mustn't be bad it just feels like it sometimes." She lowers her ears her body tence. She didn't want to upset the big male, he was after all, very nice, he was being so kind to her, so complimentary.

"I'm sorry if I have burdened you with my fears Lio, I did not mean to."

Lio smiled at her warmly, standing he walked over towards her. "Please don't apologize, you should never feel sorry for speaking your mind." He gazed into her emerald eyes, his mind spinning with thoughts. He wanted so badly to comfort her, to make her feel safe. He wanted to take care of her.

"This place is a paradise in its own right, and I'm glad we both know it. Many creatures don't see how good they've got it, until it's gone." He said a little sadly, sitting down close beside her. "I'm very glad to have met you, Radi." He said softly, watching her closely. He smiled warmly, feeling a bit bashful for saying what he felt.
