Hello everyone. I have been having some writing block issues lately, but it's been a while since I wrote a good GW fanfic (if I've ever written a good GW fanfic). I was wondering what everyone here (or anyone willing to participate) is looking for in a fanfic? Like romantic pairings (please no yaoi/incest/yuri), friendship (anything), singles, groups, the age range of the characters, alternate universe, after war, during the war, reflections, fantasy, deathfics, what types of plots, etc.
Any ideas would be helpful.

Relena and Dorothy friendship fic, possibly a college setting. The concept is, Relena decides to resume schooling in order to better prepare herself for her future duties. Due to some circumstance or another, Dorothy, whom Relena has not seen in years, is at the same college. Drama ensues.
You could involve Heero x Relena and Dorothy x Quatre romantic subplots at your own discretion.
Characters should be older than 18, younger than 22.

You know, that's a very interesting idea! I'm in college now too (a freshman), so I could definately know a thing or two about college drama...of course Relena and Dorothy are rich, last time I checked.

I'm always interested in friendship fics with Zechs and the Gundam pilots--especially when they're unlikely or difficult friendships. Think mutual respect but caution between Zechs and Heero... Quatre wanting to get to know the Lightning Count better to figure out what makes him tick and maybe help him... Zechs and Wufei trying to figure each other out...
And probably the most intriguing: Zechs and Relena really trying to make a go of being a family.

Yea, a fic focusing on Relena and Zech's brother and sister relationship and the difficulties it could bring about would be interesting, but I think that after The Endless Waltz there may not be so many problems...without the Gundams and peace reigning over all and all that fun stuff.

Duo Maxwell Gundam 02 You know, that's a very interesting idea! I'm in college now too (a freshman), so I could definately know a thing or two about college drama...of course Relena and Dorothy are rich, last time I checked. Even high-class colleges have action and drama. My biggest piece of advice for this idea is simply this: don't make it just another schoolfic. I know it might be tempting to have the entire cast tag along on such an idea, but that horse has been beaten, whipped, and murdered. If you focus on just Relena and Dorothy you can get a lot more out of the story by exploring them in greater depth. If any of the characters follow along, I could almost imagine Heero doing it in order to keep an eye on her. Of course, if Relena befriends Dorothy, then I could easily see the playful heiress inciting the princess to pull a few pranks at Heero's expense and in general just having some good old-fashioned fun.

I agree. I am not a great writer, I don't really write anything decent in the way of fanfics so my opinion holds little authority sweatdrop
But I am definitely a fan and I do my fair share of indulging in them. For me, stories are really set apart from the rest if they include a character or characters in a more or less realistic and plausible setting, keeping things as canon as possible, but still different or under different circumstances than most would think. I agree with Void; many ideas (not only in GW fanfiction but in all fanfiction) have been driven into the ground. I love long fics that are well written, so when I am skimming through some to choose, I am picky; I don't want to waste my time reading lengthy segments that won't eventually satisfy me. So if I come across something that makes me think "been there...read another like it last week" I almost immediately move on.
That's not to say, however, that people can't make newer and more interesting renditions of similar ideas. I guess that's where good writing skills come in to play. Write something well enough and you could almost get me to read anything 3nodding
