ok, so i was at the book store today and i was browsing around when i saw this book's side was pink and yet said, "annie on my mind"... or something like that, at least. anyways, the first thing i thought was that since pink is usually associated with girls and the title was annie on my mind, i thought it must be a book about lesbians. and i was right!!! i wanted to get it, but that would involve asking my mom for money, then she would be like, "well, lemme see the book" and since she's so anti-lesbian, it would scar her to see her daughter interested in such literature.
anyways, i am so totally wowed by the fact that i was able to find any book involving homosexuality whatsoever (other than manga, that is). i came across one or two more and was just amazed at it. so it got me to thinking, perhaps society's getting one step closer to total acceptance!!! but that's too optomistic. it could just be books written about homosexuality for the gays/lesbins/bisexuals/transexuals. but that's beyond the point.
i'm wondering, has anyone else ever stumbled across such books. if so, could you leave a title, providing it's interesting. thanks all.
ok, i'm really hyper, so if this post lasted forever, i'm sorry. sweatdrop

I remember the school libraries removing books because they turned out to be related to homosexuality. I am wondering if Harry Potter is getting pulled from today's school libraries if it is in there by chance, since Dumbledore being gay.

julie anne peters is a lesbian herself and writes beautifully. if you e-mail her she writes you back. she's an amazing woman, and so are her books.

I don't know if it counts, but to me, Anne Rice is crack. Her Vampire Chronicles characters tend to have homo- or bi- sexual tendancies in relationships. In fact, I could name the straight people on one hand...

The Rainbow books are really good. There are three novels in the series so far Rainbow Boys Rainbow High and Rainbow Road
There are three main characters in these books. It's about three high school boys...one who's out of the closet, one who's curious, and one who tries to deny his feelings. omg, i heart the books. They're definitely worth reading. 3nodding
and for all the Harry Potter fans.. there's an amazing fanfic called Irresistible Poison. It's a Harry/Draco theme.i personally didn't think it'd be good because i had a distaste for draco, but by the end of the first few chapters, i was hooked.
...umm.. i think that's all i know of...
oh wait.. there's a book called Boy meets Boy heard about it, but haven't found it to read it yet.

Boy meets Boy is pretty good.
Am I blue?- A collection of short stories, many of them absolutely amazing.
Dancing naked- gay boys in Salt Lake City
The Drowning of Stephan Jones- One of my favorite books, but I have not been able to bring myself to read it more than once. It is so sad.
Geography Club- Group of gay boys, including the school jock, start a club no one will ever join and turn it into a GSA.
The House you Pass on the Way- Girl goes to stay with her cousin and starts to question her sexuality.
That's the few I can think of now that haven't been mentioned yet.

Stone Butch Blues by Leslie Feinberg A Pre-Stonewall story about a Butch Lesbian/Transman. I just finished reading it, and it was quite heartbreaking.

Keeping You A Secret -(Julie Anne Peters) this was the first one I've ever read and an amazing book.
Empress of the world- (by sarah ryan) yet another amazing book.
Tipping The Velvet- (Sarah Waters) I just finished this book about two weeks ago, and I have to say, it's one of the most amazing books I've ever read.
The Price Of Salt- (Patricia Highsmith) haven't read it yet.
Aimee and Jaguar- (by Erica Fischer) haven't read it yet.
The Bermudez Triangle- (by maureen Johnson) yet another good book.
Alma Mater- (Rita Mae Brown) I absolutely love this book!
Rubyfruit Jungle- (Rita mae brown) excellent, but sad at times.
Breading underwater- (Lu Vickers) haven't read it yet.
Far From Xanadu- (Julie Anne Peters) my alltime favorite book. This is amazing and I certainly recommend this, as well as anything the author has published.
Annie On My Mind- (nancy garden) a really good book.
Six Of One- (rita mae brown) haven't read it, but she's an amazing author.
Venus Envy- (Rita Mae Brown) currently reading.
Fingersmith- (Sarah Waters) um... I couldn't get past the beginning, which was quite boring, so I never finished it.

"Empress of the World" by Sarah Ryan [reallly good, and there's a sequel] "Pages For You: A Novel" by Sylvia Brownigg "Dare Truth or Promise" by Paula Boock "Keeping You a Secret" by Julie Anne Peters "Girl Walking Backwards" by Bett Williams "Kissing Kate" by Lauren Myracle [has a sadish ending, not my fav] "Patience and Sarah" by Isabel Miller "The Year They Burned the Books" by Nancy Garden [a really good book]
I own some of these, and i plan on buying more. the list is longer, and i research new books often, so you can PM me if you'd like a full one.
