This is a wonderful prayer which calls on the many aspects of Tara for blessings. Any Buddhist can perform it, however, if you're familiar with the Kabbalistic Tree of Life, then this prayer has a bit more meaning to it. I thought it was beautiful and I'd like to share it.

Quote:
Star Tara Invocation
By Aion Nu Moon Sept 01 (for NYC)

Tara of Kether

I call forth the infinite shining Light of Lights
White, incandescent- illuminating All
No words or sound or any sense- beyond, beyond
Pure Tara Shine as a Star
The secret Dream
Bring all to Omega Point
One- pure and Being
Om tare tuttare ture soha

Tara of Chockmeh

Tara- Daughter of Swirling Stars
Supreme Shakti & Yogini
Of energy & creation- Spinning!
Send forth stars and galaxies and particle/ waves
As we awake to awareness
Bring Consciousness of Waking
Be-coming More
Goddess of flashing eyes and electric grin
we feel now- life energy,
a flower opening, a galaxy
With knowledge of you
healing minds
Om tare tuttare ture soha

Tara of Binah

Ture, Dark Mother of Bones & Blood
Silent night and smoldering ruins
Teach us the Sorrow path of letting go
Of howling pain & rage and releasing
Wheel always turning
Black heart Center
Of understanding
Grant us the Letting-go
In the still silence
of your dark smile
Om tare tuttare ture soha

Tara of Daath

Goddess of the After Tower.
Cremation Guardian
Silent
Show us the Mirror of all horror
all peace
All
Illusion- and you are gone
and so we go...
TAM.

Tara of Chesed

Blue Tara of Alabaster vase and gentle laughter
O Azure Tara- Tam!
Rippling waves of healing balm spirit
Flow from your heart lotus
Blue petals scatter, each healing one Being
Cool, delightful- Tara!
Pour upon the dead and damaged
The nightmare-tortured & entrapped souls
Release them & cradle them in the warm waters
of your Merciful embrace.
Om tare tuttare ture soha

Tara of Geburah

O Red Tara! Om! Glittering & feiry
Ruby flesh, your smile a flame
With thy sword cut the chains of fear
With your admantine gaze,
defend the weak and innocent
In your red heart
Absorb the fiery pain & suffering
Of those who have been inflicted
Protect their souls & grant peace
Reflect fire
Re-balance
Grant wisdom, revelation and Hope
Through action.
Om tare tuttare ture soha

Tara of Tipereth

Tara of Gold
Heart a rising sun, sparkling flesh
Manifest as Joy
As rays of the Sun
As a golden heart of
Tara! HA!
All is dancing golden light
All is Will.
Bring pleasure O Tara
Release from pain,
Grant warmth and comfort
& Beauty
Transform suffering & horror
Into growth and Healing
As the Sun
transforms the Storm-toppled city
Into a field of sprouting flowers
May beauty be before us,
behind us, to either side of us
Golden Tara
Shine within us
Om tare tuttare ture soha

Tara of Netzach

Emerald Green Tara-
Tam! O Lovely Naked one!
Goddess of sensations, healing and calm
Grant Orgone healing and adjustment
Help us all remember the thrill of life
through the Temples of our bodies
Bring the Splendor of living Earth,
Trees, Grasses and flowers
May we open to Love
O Devi of Loving
Cast the Arrow of Love
unraveling & dissolving the Fear & Pain
With the green emanation
of
Love
Om tare tuttare ture soha

Tara of Hod

Quiet Goddess of Sunset's glow
Send words of healing, helping & harmony
Blunt the sharp words of hate
weave together the Empty Words
to form a tapestry of Peace and Healing
O Tara of Magick
Flashing Opal Dakini
Bind evil doers
Reveal secrets & twists
Grant clarity to those with Power
Grant Knowledge to all who seek
Grant Dreams to those who suffer
Sing the Words of truth
Om tare tuttare ture soha

Tara of Yesod

White Tara of Full-moon Glory
Ancient one, silver Faery Mother
A White nimbus pervades you
You bring the comforting mist-
the inner dream work
Heal psyches, the nightmare-scars
The deep wounds and fears-
free them with the subtle flows
the quiet tides of your meditation
White Tara, mother of pearl skin
Jasmine and silver upon you
We sigh with relief at your coming
you gently wake us from nightmare
With a kiss of silver
Om tare tuttare ture soha

Tara of Malkuth

Green Tara of the World
Green of leaves and grasses
Forests and fields
Aglitter in the vastness of space
Tara- Great Mother Goddess
Bring forth the Feather of your Self
In your two Lotuses
Balance the upset energies of this World
Reach down your lotus foot
And touch the Earth
And so ground all our fears and horrors & pain & sorrow & hate
Leaving
Only peace

Peace

Peace.

Om tare tuttare ture soha

If anyone is not familiar with how to chant Tara's mantra (om tare tuttare ture soha), then you can download, listen and follow along to this MP3 from the Venerable Thubten Chodron's website. When she first chants the mantra, it's the long version, so you can listen until she switches to the shorter version.

In which tradition are mantras most often recited?

I would have to say Tibetan, but I could be wrong.
