The sound of two healthy rinas breathing echoed through the air. The growing light shining through the trees heralded dawn's approach. A young Telpareon watched over them with her tail idly swishing along the ground as she watched and listened with only the protectiveness a mother could provide. Ever so silently she rose and gently pushed both kits closer to each other before laying down and providing them with warmth if they chose to seek it out.
A creature's chirp interrupted her thoughts and she scanned the tree line before smiling softly. Having Bakari acting as a second set of eyes never hurt anyone. Lowering her head she nuzzled her children before scanning the area around them. Had that been a twig snapping?
"Who goes there?"

“ It’s just me, no need to worry. ” The voice was soft, and male, coming from just a few feet away. Only a few seconds after he had spoken, Lanying slowly stepped out from behind and bush at blocked the view of the path he traveled on. His slow pace was due to a large leaf he carried on his back. It acted as a bowl of sorts, holding the water he had gathered for the female Telpareon.
She gave her and the little ones a soft smile and Bakari a nod. He’d never been a big fan of the Pandryl’s, not that he didn’t like them, but he wasn’t the type to keep his own. However he liked having Bakari to watch over Solstice and the little ones. Stepping up to her side she stopped and lowed himself to his stomach so that the water was low enough for her to drink from. “ How are they doing? ”

Hearing the reassurance of the father's words the female relaxed slightly and waited. Solstice's eyes tracked Lanying's movements before she glanced back towards the children. "They've been sleeping since you left." She sighed and watched as he gently lowered his body to the ground before spotting the leaf filled with water. She craned her neck over and lapped at the refreshing moisture.
The nod to her pandryl familiar did not go unnoticed and it pleased her that one would be civil to her companion as well.
Finishing the water that was in the leaf Solstice turned her gaze onto Lanying before speaking softly. "How are you doing with all of this? Do you find it hard to believe that these are your children as well?" Her eyes flicked down to the rinas before waiting for a reply from the white Tae.

Once she had taken her share of water Lanying looked to the smaller dragon like creature, motioning to him that there was water for him as well. He‘d brought enough for both Solstice and Bakari, there wasn‘t water close by for either of them so it was his job to make sure that they did get dehydrated. “ It doesn’t bother me if that’s what you’re wondering about. ” She looked to the male, whom resembled his mother more then himself. “ I honestly didn’t expect to be a father so soon, but I still love the little ones. I guess you could say I find it hard to believe. ” Moving his tail closer to her and stroking her back with it, her soft fur shifting and shining as it caught the light.

Solstice purred softly in response to Lanying's actions before watching Bakari descend from the trees. She could feel the creature's apprehension and she sent a wave of reassurance towards him. Her attention refocused on Lanying as he spoke and she nodded. "One never does believe it at first I suppose. Even I am having a little bit of a hard time believing it. But these are our children."
Rising to her feet brought the loss of contact between her and Lanying but it needed to be done. Idly the thought of pouncing Lanying's tail flitted across her mind but she refrained from such an action. Her gaze settled on his pelt as the sunlight caught it and turned it a dazzling shade of white. "On this fine morning should we think about bestowing names on our children?"
Bakari had been silently drinking from the leaf that the white Tae - no Lanying - he corrected himself had left him. The cool and refreshing liquid settled gently into his stomach and he chirped once in thanks before alighting back towards the branch he had designated as a lookout post. He too glanced down from time to time at the young before returning his attention to the horizon and what dangers might lurk.

Lanying watched the female as she stood, and gave a small nod to her question. “ Yes, it is probably time we name them. ” His gaze shifted from his mate to the little ones resting a few inches away from him. Rolling onto his side and allowing the mostly empty leaf to slide off his back he used his long tail to shift the young ones closer. First the female and then the boy, keeping them warm with his body heat.
The morning wasn’t particularly cold, but with the sun just rising he didn’t want to take too many chances with the Rina’s. They were still small enough that the slight chill in the air may cause them to become ill. As he held them close the pale colored female took hold of the fluff of fur at the end of his tail, nibbling on it as she drempt. He twitched, almost pulling away at first but stopped himself before he did and grinned at her before looking to her mother. “ Do you have any idea? ” He had one or two of his own but he wanted to know what Solstice thought.

Solstice gave a small sound of amusement as Lanying's tail fell victim to a nibbling attack. Her glance towards her children were full of love and affection. Turning back to Lanying she dropped her voice as to not disturb the rinas. "I believe that for the naming to be fruitful we must not debate but immediately go with what our hearts tell us are the correct names. If it alright with you I will search inside for our son's name and you can do the same for our daughter."
With that said Solstice lay down so that she was looking directly into her son's eyes. She breathed evenly before letting her eyes close in thought. A minute passed ... and then another. Had one not known one might have assumed that Solstice had fallen asleep.
Suddenly and without any warning the female's eyes snapped open and she gently raised herself to a sitting position once more ... blocking the slight breeze from her son's form. "I believe that my heart is telling me ... Mizuiro."

Laying there and watching his mate, the white male couldn’t keep the smile on his face from spreading even wider. He was glad that the scene before him was real, not a mere dream or wish, but something that had and was happened. He cared deeply for Solstice and his young ones. Though having children was actually something he had never really wanted, he now bathed in the after glow. He had never told his mate that babies were not desired. One thing had lead to another and here they where. But he didn’t regret, and he never would.
He nodded as she spoke the name she had chosen for the male. “ Mizuiro ” He repeated the name to himself. “ It’s a fine name my dear. ” Shifting his pale lavender colored eyes to the female now, he knew he didn’t have to think for her name. His hard had told him for name the moment he had seen her. “ And this little one shall be Li-Hua. ” He gazed at his plum blossom as he tried feebly to free his tail, causing the little one to wake. Her dark lavender eyes opening and looking up at her parents.

Solstice's gaze watched as Li-Hua's eyes opened and she purred softly to the little one trying to see if she would return to the land of slumber. Shaking her head at the lack of success she gently prodded at her son to wake as well. Seeing as it was already daylight perhaps her children needed some time to be awake and learn what they needed to know.
"Li-Hua & Mizuiro. I think that should work just fine for them," here she turned her attention back to the rinas and gently spoke to them, "It's time to wake dear ones. Come see what glorious surprises await you."
The young male's eyes slowly opened to see two large, blurry forms above him and one smaller form beside the place he took up on the ground. Squeaking in fright he burrowed his head into the smaller form's side. How was Mizuiro to know that the large forms where his parents? His sight was almost no help at all as he raised his nose to the air and scented what he could.

Li-Hua stared at her mother, letting out a very tiny and soft mew. Lifting out a paw she tried to reach her mother, but couldn’t reach her. She blinked when she heard the female purr and tried to copy her, but the noise merely came out as a gurgled hiccup type of sound.
Lanying chuckled softly at the male rina, pulling his tail free now that his daughter only held it with one paw and stroking his sons back to calm him. " No reason to fear us little one. " He knew that the children could not see that well just yet, but there vision would grown better in only a few days. Then they could explore all that was new to them without worry. It seemed at the moment though, that Muzuiro would be the shy one of the two.

Li-Hua's attempt to mimic her purring brought Solstice a little bit of joy. She nuzzled her daughter before watching Lanying try to comfort Mizuiro. Leaning over to look at her son she smiled softly. The sight of her son trying to burrow into whatever was nearby to hide himself brought a smile of mirth from his mother.
Gently she craned her neck to observe Mizuiro before speaking softly. "Mizuiro, darling, do not be afraid. We are not here to hurt you."
She glanced quickly up to Lanying before shaking her head. This one might be a bit of a handful until he could focus and identify the forms he needed to know for survival. Glancing upwards she noted Bakari watching the horizon.
Mizuiro continued to keep his head down and huddled against the warmth from the form beside him. He could feel the reassurance from both the two larger shapes and heard the soft voice speaking to him. Very slowly and unsure he lifted his head and opened his eyes before mewing uncertainly.

Feeling something pressed into her side, the warmth of another creature. She tuned her head to look at her brother just as he mewed and she in response mewed back quietly. Her tail flicked and her sifted soft she could stand, her young legs shacking under her for a moment. She wobbled towards her mother, rubbing her nose against her front leg and mewing again.
Lanying smiled at his daughter as she stood and took her first few steps. His attention quickly returned to the male child and he couldn’t wipe the smile off his face. He knew that he was going to love being a father now, even though he hadn’t wanted to be one at first. He continued to pet his sons back with his tail, while watching all three of the members of his family. “ She seem to want a little over her mothers attention. ”

Solstice watched as Li-Hua stood shakily and moved towards her. A moment later had passed and as a small nose rubbed against her paw Solstice could not help but feel an immense swell of protectiveness towards her daughter. Cooing softly she lowered her head and blinked at Li-Hua's markings before smiling. "I'm right here Li-Hua. If you get any closer to me you'll be burrowing into my side."
This was said with a touch of humor in her voice as Li-Hua's tiny cry reached her ears. She allowed her head to lower to her daughter's side where she proceeded to give her daughter a few licks with her tongue.
Mizuiro had heard another individual's mew just as he'd finished his. Sticking his head up from the body he was next to Mizuiro tried to spot where the sound had come from. He felt around briefly using his paws to try and figure out just where the other warm body had disappeared to. Giving a mew of uncertainly his head craned around before the tail stroking along his back was registered. Rolling over quite suddenly his front paws lashed out in an attempt to catch the fluffy thing.

As the rina felt her mother lick her side she mewed once more. She tried to turn to nuzzle her mothers face, but the sleeves she wore were just a little long and she stepped on one, tripping and falling over. She let out a small squeak of surprise but she was un harmed, just freighted. Her large kitten eyes stared up at the fuzzy figure of her mother before she leaned forwards and pressed her nose to the adults then licked it, following along her cheek and sniffing at her fur to get her mothers scent.
Lanying smiled at Mizuiro as the rina attacked his tail. He held the tuft of fur just out of the little ones full reach, tapping his paws with it. He allowed the small boy to bat at it a few times but wanted to keep it out of reach of those deadly sharp claws rina’s tended to have. “ Don’t have to see well to find joy in chasing you’re parents tail I supposed. ” He laughter slightly before glancing to Solstice. “ What should to do on there first day of moving around? ”

Solstice glanced down at Mizuiro and Li-Hua with such tenderness before registering Lanying's question. Her mind went through different scenarios before sighing softly. The thing was she was coming empty on suggestions. The children were still so young. Was it safe for them to do anything?
Suddenly it dawned on her. "Well perhaps since it is still to early for them to distinguish anything with real clear sight maybe we should try and guide them around our territory. Bakari could be helpful in being our eyes as we tend to the little ones."
Mizuiro yawned briefly as his ears perked at the sound of his sister's squeak. Now that was an interesting sound. Snuffling at the ground he found the scent of the one who had been beside him and moved in that direction. He wasn't sure if he was even on the right track. He could hear voices discussing something but his attention was locked on tracking down the squeaker.
