He was glad for the warm weather, it would help out with the current class that he was going to be teaching, to show a student how to petrify things. As he didn't know exactly the results of that skill he went out to gather various plants and small bugs for his student to test it out on instead of another person.
He had the bugs sitting in covered jars and the planters in vases of water all of which waited for the student on a table that had two chairs pulled up to it. He looked down at his clipboard, scribbled down a quick note and then moved to sit in one of the seats to await his student.

Ai'shern was slightly late, due to no fault of his own, but rather his absent-minded guardian, battle teacher Turner Herrick. Face blank, he entered the room, his golden eyes locking onto the teacher.
Giving Orpheus a slightly apologetic smile, he took off his hat. "I apologize for my tardiness. What is our lesson today, Mr. Solon?"
Luckily, this class would be easy. Ai'shern had been petrifying things [turning them to stone] since he was a lot younger. Eating that stone afterwards, too. Of course, paralysis was something he HADN'T mastered, but that would be another class. He'd never petrified something still alive, though....
[Sorry, Rayne, completely forgot about this. D:]

"A combination of things actually. Your DNA ties in with a rather interesting creature who has some really neat skills." He said, motioning for Ai'shern to follow him over so that they could take a seat at the table, "I gathered a variety of different things for you to try these skills out on. We will then test your level of mastery over the skills as well."

Raising an eyebrow the gentle boy took the offered seat, his yellow eyes lingering on the jars of critters and plants. "What skills would you like me to demonstrate, Mr. Solon?" A pause. "I do know that I can turn things to stone."

Orpheus nodded, "I would like to see that if you don't mind." He said, reaching over to pick up one of the flowers and held it out to Ai'shern. He wanted to see what the boy had figured out on his own so that he could figure out what they needed to work on.
Orpheus was a curious man who wanted to see a skill like turning things to stone first hand, "After you try it out on the flower we will move to trying it out on one of the bugs I caught." He told him, from there they would move on to yet another test.

"I do not mind, sir."
Ai'shern had never turned anything living before, like a bug, and his gaze was careful as he took the flower. Golden eyes became suddenly brighter as he concentrated on the plant and as he stared, stone began to creep from the base of the stem to the tip of the flower. It didn't take long, and he calmly handed the stone flower back to Orpheus, his eyes back to their usual tone.
"I have never turned something alive, though." The boy frowned, unsure of his teacher's request. Was he supposed to be using his powers on others?

Orpheus took the flower and looked it over, finding himself wondering idly if there were a way to reverse the effects of Ai'shern's gaze on things. He would have to look it up later among the books he had access too. He set the flower down on the table, "If you don't want to petrifiy them you don't have to, I don't want you to have to do anything your not comfortable with."
"Instead we can discuss the other ability you have. On top of petrifying things you should be able to cause short term paralysis." He explained, "Just freezing something up where it stands instead of turning them to stone."
