 Before the walls fell, the screams echoed the streets and blood soaked the ground of Rome, the Empire thrived. Business, art, music and strength were held in high esteem, men were valued by their ability to do work and provide, women for their skills in the arts and house keeping, and children in their training to become a Roman citizen or solider. Lands were conquered and captives kept as slaves for years in the homes of wealthy Roman loyals, doing day to day work and struggling to gain freedom, though many died in the process. There were several ways for a slave to earn their freedom, the easiest being that their Master set them free, maybe even gave them a spouse and schooling their children. The most common way was that they served for most of their life and eventually bought their way out. But the most famous way to earn ones freedom, was the be a champion on the field of Gladiators. Bloody battles to the death between men who had nothing left to loose, but everything to gain. Men from other countries held as captives and criminals from cities all over fought for their freedom in front of the Emperor himself. Only his word could save a losing man, and the crowd influenced his word. A thumbs up, sparred his life and the competitor is claimed the victor, thumbs down and the victor must slay the loser to truly win the match. When your Life hangs on one mans thumb, you give it your all, and hope the crowd likes you, or you'll be sacrificed...

Field of Battle:
The area in which Gladiators battle, blood, breath and brains, to the end, is the Colosseum. Seats surround the sand covered battle center, rows upon rows of spectators piled on top of one another cheering for their favored Gladiator. Their cheers at the end determining the life span of the pinned fighter, are what one will fight for. Weapons line the walls, walls almost 12ft tall to keep the tallest of the gladiators inside, and the lions when they are let lose to clean up the bodies, spears, swords and shields alike hung up for the fighters if they are to lose their weapon in the heat of the battle. But the most important section of the battle field is the Emperor's box, directly in the center of the furthest side on the Colosseum. The purple fabric draped box, set off by several burly guards is where the Emperor sits, as well as his assistant. It is she who will consult with the Emperor to either follow the crowds cheers to kill the losing Gladiator, or spar his life. And it is not uncommon for Gladiators to attempt to appeal to her likes while they fight, in hopes they she will spare their lives.
The Cells:
The Cells are where each Gladiator must wait for his fight. Directly under the arena, the crowds cheers can be heard, as sand slips through the cracks in the wooden ceiling, showing the efforts and positions of the Gladiators above. The drip of blood through the ceiling into the hallway is usually the symbol of a battle ended, a friend lost, and a victor named. Each of the eight cells are no larger then a 10 by 10 room, one side made of iron bars, just close enough together to keep each man in. A single wooden bench that reaches from one wall to the next across the back is all the Gladiators are given to sleep on, sit on, and await their deaths on. The central hallway leads up on both sides to opposite sides of the arena. Competitors are lead down separate sides of the hallway by guards and enter then arena as announced by the Emperors Assistant, but never before embracing one another as warriors down below first, "For The Gods, My friend."

1: You will not behave improperly. This means that you will not start flaming anyone should you not be accepted into the roleplay or if you should receive a warning. You will not insult anyone else in OOC, PM, or over any Messenger as a result of interaction in this Thread. You will not endanger this thread by posting improper material or details that will be considered far above PG-13. You will respect the Thread Owner, members of the Crew, and any other Moderator and heed their words.
2: You will take a good look at Gaia's Terms of Service. Especially these two sections: 4.a and 4.b, The same ones that you are required to quote should you be joining this guild. We do not want any behavior or things posted that will endanger this guild's or this thread's future. Should any such post be made you will suffer the full consequences of your actions.
3: You will respect your follow roleplayers. You will not take the images of their profiles or copy any material from this Thread without permission of the creator of that material. It's considered very rude to have an Image you have made a very good profile out of reused in a poor way. That's insulting to the creator of the original profile. We do recognize that unknown events of copy might happen but in these cases we do ask that you either change or update your profile in such a way that it no longer will be considered offensive to the original creator or poster. What is insulting will be decided by members of the Crew.
4: We Require Literacy in this Roleplay. However we do not define Literacy by how long the posts you make are, but on the quality of the posts. This means a lot of the times one liners cam be just fine, but most of the time the need for detail exists and we expect that everyone tries to make the roleplay as interesting as possible for everyone. We can't read your mind, so for us to get a full view of what your trying to write the need for details exist, and with details comes quality. In terms of spelling and grammar we aren't too strict about it as long as it's not difficult to understand what your typing, but we do not accept Chat speak in any form what so ever unless its OOC. This should never be done in this Roleplay in any other form then (Is anyone here?), (I need to go for a while) and short responses to such posts. Other than posts of this nature all OOC is banned.

[-Thread Rules-]
1: All Players must read the opening story line to understand where we start off. (Besides its beautifully written if I do say so myself), and are expected to regularly check for updates in the story line underneath it. They will be dated for user friendliness. These updates will announce up coming events that will effect the ongoings of the RP and the match ups of the fights...so CHECK THEM.
2: Because this is an application RP with only certain people posting, each Role player is expected to let the others know if they will be unable to post for any length of time, exceeding 2 days. It is rude to hold up the others without an explanation because the RP hinges on everyone continually posting.
3: This RP is going to be held in rounds. Only 8 Gladiators will be allowed each round. So the first 8 applications accepted will be able to participate in that round. Each will be paired up for their first fight, and the winners advance. It is a double elimination so the losers will then battle each other for a chance to survive. This will continue until there are only four players left, in which it only takes one loss to be eliminated from the game, and a Champion is named. EACH PAIR WILL HAVE 1 WEEK TO FINISH THEIR FIGHT. ON THE 7TH DAY THE WINNER IS CHOSEN BY THE EMPEROR!
4: The Champion on that round is then placed in the Champions post, and will not be able to participate in the next round of game play. They may then re-enter the RP the round after that, with a new character, because obviously their last character earned his/her Freedom.
5: Characters that were 'killed', or eliminated from the game may re-enter the next round if they are within the first 8 to apply. There are no mandatory edit needed on re-entered profiles, though they are recommended.
6: Once each Goddess has gained her Champion through the 8 rounds of battle. All 8 Champions will battle for the title of Jupiter's Champion, and a prize of Special Gift from the Demonic Productions team and a 2k reward.
7: I shouldn't have to put this...but no God Modding or piggy-backing. This means no making characters unbeatable, no pre-determining the others actions and so on and so forth. Your all lit RP'ers but it has to be said.

Skill Specialty:As a fighter Constantina's skill is her speed, being nimble enough to get away quickly and get around her competitors weak side before they have time to react. This tactic has saved her time and time again in the streets of Rome as a woman who was gifted with looks. But as less of a fighter she has gotten ahead in life not by her beauty, though surely it has helped, but with her intelligence, schooling herself when her brothers came home with their books and even tutoring them when they needed the help. Working with her father in the senate, dressing as a boy, eventually introduced her to the Emperor. Her final most vital skill is her ability to reason with anyone, even the Emperor when he found out her true gender. Instantly taken with her skills, he wanted her as his bride, but her father would not have it, and she agreed to be his assistant until she grew older.
Personality: At the age of 18, after two years of service to the Emperor, Constantina has him by the ear for several reasons. The main reason being that her softly said, dominant opinions are intelligent and well spoken, and her ability to be decisive in harsh situations, being of extreme value to the Emperor. The other being her beauty and sensual exuberance that she carries herself with. At the age of womanhood, not only does her body know how to show itself, but her mind encourages the eye with well placed words and laughter. A woman of high quality, who knows what she wants and knows how to get it, Constantina sits with the Emperor and persuades him either way on a battle. It isn't uncommon for her favorite fighter to be named the winner, her taste leaning toward the warrior who can draw the most blood, and break the most bone. A sadistic cord in her somewhere is drawn to the sound of bones crushing, and wills breaking.
Biography: Growing up as a normal girl in Roman times, Constantina followed her mother around and learned to control a house hold of slaves, the value of a social party and the position a woman should take toward her husband...subservient. Her Father, a Senator, had other idea's for his bright Daughter. When her brothers went off to school. He made sure they brought home an extra book for Constantina to have. Her father, though rooted in tradition and scripture, was a man who only wanted the best for his children. Constantina spent all her spare time reading and studying the books her brothers brought home, and it didn't take long for her to actually have to tutor them in their studies.
A girl with a high intellect, her Father had the brilliant idea to take her in as a page for the Senate. Only problem was that only males were allowed in the Senate unless under trial circumstances. Her Mother greatly disapproved but, with only a glance from her Husband, she aided every morning in dressing her only daughter as boy so she could attend with her Father. And that she did, she was her Fathers assistant for a year before she was taken along with him to a trial hearing, where the Emperor attended. Instantly he saw through the guise and came up to Constantina's Father after the meeting, and unmasked Constantina, seeing her for what she was. She was so worried she had just cost her Father his job, but instead the Emperor offered her Father a Marriage proposal. "Your Daughter is as beautiful and intelligent as any woman worthy of my hand". Even though Constantina was only 16, a normal age for girls to be getting married, but again her Father refused to let her become a house wife only to bear a male heir for the Emperor and responded. "She will not be married until the age of 20, until then I will allow her to be your personal Assistant. You may come to me for her hand on her 20th birthday if you still find yourself interested."
As Surprised as the Emperor was, that not only was he denied what he wanted, but was given stipulations, he agreed happily to have Constantina as his Assistant. Since then she has lived in the Emperor's palace and served him each day, given the best education and the best commendations. Day to day she assists in his affairs from meetings with the military as the Empire continued to expand, to what color to redecorate his room. In each situation her word is weighed equally heavy by the Emperor, as he values her educated and logical thinking. The Emperor still makes advances towards her, but she smiles, obliging only his mild flirting before reminding him of his given word and the exact amount of time until her 20th birthday.
