I am currently reading Bentley Little's - The Store

I've just started this book, first recommended by author Stephen King, and then my very own husband who took this book from me and made it his b***h in a day.

I understand that it will creep the ******** outta you and make you think twice about shopping Walmart. Having read about a hundred pages so far I can say that the interview scene certainly raised my brow and sped up my pulse.

****

As most of you know I prefer horror over most any other genre. I am definitely a reader of fiction. Like a mind movie I must watch. Horror/psychological thrillers, fantasy, action, scifi, mystery, drama... pretty much in that order.

I have a tendency to really explore and stick with a particular author if s/he grabs my attention. Hence I have read just about everything Stephen King, Dean Koontz, and David Eddings have ever written.

I just got finished with

- Jillian Michael's "winning by losing". I learned some science behind weight loss here. She talked about how to vary your total caloric intake to fool your body's metabolism from readjusting to get used to it. She discussed the need to exercise for 60 minutes 5 times a week (though I was recommended to do 60 minutes of exercise 4 times a week by another trainer).. it's a very well-rounded book for losing weight but the food recommendations don't even acknowledge veganism, it is the furthest from veganism and this is where I think she's off the mark.

- "The crazy makers". I learned about the importance of supplementation in the diet to promote mental health and function in this book (sad but true, not only is the food supply less nutritious than 100 years ago even, but most people on the S.A.D. (standard american diet) eat food that is cooked so much and most of the nutrients are gone on top of the sodium, sugar, trans fats, msg, aspartame, and other crap in the food). Not having enough nutrition in your diet not only affects your physical body, it affects your mental health and function, which makes sense.

- "the enzyme factor". This book taught me the importance of drinking water at the correct times of the day (it's a lot more complicated than one would think, but the information makes a lot of sense), and the importance of chewing a lot each time you bite something (30-70 times) in order to eat correctly and break down the food, and it had more valuable information on WHY milk and meat was harmful to the human body. I learned that antacid tablets were harmful actually, and that too much consumption of green/black teas were also stressful for the body. This book also taught me the importance of eating the last meal 4-5 hours before bedtime (with eating fruit or drinking water 1 hour before bedtime if one felt like they really needed it).

I learned valuable things from all three books, even though they are not perfect. No "one" book is perfect with information, even though a high-profile personal trainer, a nutritionist, and a highly-sought after medical doctor were among the authors here. Ya gotta read lots of them to balance it all out.

Still reading The Store. It's a very creepy book which imo makes for an excellent read.

Slow going though because I'm only able to read at bedtime. Damn my life! stressed
