Aaaaah, spring. One of only two seasons that Adamu had encountered so far, the young stallion was thinking that he far preferred the faint warmth of the sun and slow greening of the vegetation to the frigid iciness of winter. It was a pleasant morning, with the sun well on its way to shining overhead, and Adamu was taking full advantage of it by laying prone upon his side, letting his dark coat washed with red soak up the sun. One would think he was asleep, if they didn't notice an ear twitching back and forth for the sound of any approaching creatures.

The day was truly lovely.
It had drawn Zhenga out and about to wander in the sunshine. Not flying although. She would rather get a grounds eye view than a bird's eye view. Sure seeing the world beneath you is nice. But being able to see everything up close is what she preferred the most.
Her black wings shook as she gave them a small stretch before folding them against her back. Silver eyes gazed out upon the land before her. So green it was. A very drastic change from no long ago.
She admired all the green. The subtle hints of color that flashed before her eyes as her head turned slightly. But all of a sudden, a strange mass of red and black appeared. How curious. Was it another Soquili? Well of course it would have to be...shouldn't it?
This wasn't the first time she had encountered someone laying in the grass. And it reminded her of the little start she had gotten from then.
Taking a deep breath, she moved over towards it. Eying it carefully as she got closer and closer. Almost tip-toeing. She wondered if whoever it was was asleep? Or maybe injured...or?

Though his eyes were closed, Adamu was not asleep...the sun was bright, and if he didn't keep his eyes closed he'd be blinded. Not pleasant in any circumstance, it would also rather negate the whole reason why he was laying in the sun--to soak it up and be comfortable. So it was that when he heard soft, quiet footsteps, he flicked an ear and rolled up onto his belly. He tried not to do it too quickly so he didn't startle whoever was approaching, but...well...if he was to get up, he had to do it somehow. "Hi there, miss," he remarked in a pleasant tone to the cautiously approaching alicorn.

She stopped a few feet away from the stallion as he rolled onto his belly. Well, she certainly hadn't really expected that. It startled her just slightly but only caused her body to twitch a bit.
It seemed to her that she startled more now a days. Or at least it seemed so.
Her black nose wrinkled, causing her white whiskers to wiggle about as she did so. At least he sounded pleasant. "Hello..." She finally choked out after a bit of awkward silence. Slender tail moving back and forth behind her slowly as she studied him. His colors had an odd combination. But hey, who was she to talk?
"I guess you were just resting then? Thats a good thing. I'm not sure what I'd do if you were hurt...I mean! I'm not sure...I uh..." Taking a soft breath, she tried to figure out what she was trying to say. "I think I mean, if you were hurt I'm not sure what I'd be able to do to help you. There aren't many others around...." Zhenga glanced around, silver eyes scanning the expanse of land around her. "I'm not all that good at healing or tending to wounds either."

At the mare's startled jump, Adamu laid his ears back in a contrite manner. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to surprise you," he apologized, grey eyes studying her with concern. "There's no need for you to apologize, really. If anything I should be the one apologizing...are you alright?" He wasn't sure if he'd succeed in soothing the mare's nerves, but the least he could do was try. Augh, but he was completely forgetting himself! Shaking his head at his own ineptitude, he continued, "I should introduce myself. Adamu's the name, miss."

By now her tail had stopped moving, though the end gave random flicks every now and then. The fuzzy end flopping side to side. "Its ok. No need to apologize yourself." She pawed at the ground lightly, letting a few braids slip over her nose before tossing them back into place. "Just seems like I'm a bit more startled these days. Never know who or whats running around for sure."
Taking another soft, yet deep breath. Zhenga closed her eyes for a moment before letting them slip open once again. "Its a pleasure to meet you Adamu. My name is Zhenga."

Adamu nodded in what he thought was understanding. His parents had told he and his siblings some of what had caused them to be, after all, and so Adamu knew well of the existence of powerful, wicked creatures such as Plague. But he had never met one of these 'evil' beings, so in truth he was as innocent to their ways as a foal. "There are many dangers to be sure...but they say there is safety in numbers. How much do the two of us combining our efforts have to fear? So while we talk we should be safe enough." With a grunt, he heaved himself to his feet, tail swishing back and forth to knock off bits of dirt and grass. "Care for a bit of a walk?"

Even though there was enough space for him to stand and her not to be in the way, Zhenga took a few small steps backwards. It was a sub-conscious movement in which she wasn't even really aware she had done it.
"Yes, safety in numbers is a good idea. But evil tends to draw evil. Even if that evil seems to be alone, you never know which of it's 'friends' are waiting in the shadows. Shadows have a wide expanse for onces to hide." The thought sent a small shiver up her spine. Her tail snapping back and forth a couple of times before it rested against the back of her legs.
Perhaps it was time to move on from this topic of conversation.
Ears perked up as he talked about taking a walk. With her? Well, she had never really been asked to take a walk right off the bat. But she much preferred walking over flying anyway. And well...Adamu didn't have wings. So he couldn't fly even if she wanted to. "Sure. A walk sounds nice."

"I...don't know much about darkness, save for what I see around me at night. And I don't think that's what you meant, really," Adamu admitted. He was trying to keep his gestures slow and non-threatening, having noticed the subconscious caution with which Zhenga moved. It did not seem bred of fear so much as an intrinsic nature...that of a wild thing, that was wary of being caged. He chose a random direction in which to walk, careful not to press too close to the mare and cause her to feel too enclosed. "I haven't seen too many like you," he said honestly. The only winged ones he'd seen were directly or indirectly related to him, and none had a spiraled horn like she.

"No, thats not quite exactly what I meant." She admitted. Zhenga knew quite a bit about what lurked beyond the line of sight. Though she had never come across any of those beasts personally, she had heard many tales of horror that made her cautious about where she was at night. Or anywhere dark for that matter.
As he moved to walk, she followed. Her tail moving slowly behind her as she walked carefully. Hooves making light sounds as they touched the ground. The mare had always been light on her feet. "I'm afraid the same could be said about me. I haven't really come across any that look like myself either. Makes me wonder if they're hiding or something...."

Adamu turned his head slightly towards her as he walked, ears pricked curiously. "I had heard that it was a crossbreeding of the horned and winged types that causes such features...was this so with your parents? Forgive me if I intrude, I mean no such offense," he added in contrition. "I'm...younger than I look, I suppose. I don't know enough about the world to be of much use yet." His tail, so much longer than those of either of his parents, swished gently behind him as he walked. It was relaxing, walking like this, and he found he was enjoying talking with someone that he wasn't bound to by blood relation.

"Sometimes. Though more often than not the offspring usually come out with just horns, wings or the unicorn tail. Though there are those who come out with all three. Only way to ensure a child would come out with all three is to have both parents be Alicorns I would guess." Her eyes glanced to the side for a moment as a sprig of brightly colored flowers caught her eye.
"I don't know. I never really knew my parents. Never bugged me really and I've never really thought about them either." Wrinkling her nose, her whiskers moved back and forth. "Gosh, now your making me feel old." Zhenga teased. She had been around for quite sometime. "Everyone has some use in this crazy world. Weither or not you have the knowledge or experiance. You just gotta find your little niche. What feels right to you. Or at least comfortable."

"Yeah...I see where you're coming from, but I never thought of it that way." Adamu thought of his nephews and niece, older than he but full of spirit. Only Aurum had inherited Tsani's wings, while Halia and Dalonega took after their dam. It was all in the luck of the draw, he supposed. "I should have though, I've seen examples of that before this." He laughed sheepishly. "Sorry...I didn't mean to."

"M'yea well. When you have a lot of time on your hands like I do you tend to ponder things more others wouldn't. Though it can lead to some interesting thoughts."
She giggled lightly. Shaking her head and making the beads in her braids clink together. "No, its quite alright. Its inevitable that one would run into those who are quite younger than one's self. You tend to loose track of time and before you know it another full set of seasons has passed. It doesn't really bother me any because as long as I stay young at heart thats all that really matters."

"So, you're by yourself a lot? That would make you braver than I, in some ways...I was alone when you found me, yes, but often I'm safely tucked away with my family." Adamu laughed softly at himself, digging at the ground with one forehoof in embarassment. "That is good to hear, though. I don't think I'd like to become old and crotchety too soon. Dad hasn't though, so hopefully I'll be lucky!"
